Here in Germany it was released neither in theaters nor even on video. I was lucky enough to catch it screened at film festival. It's not a brilliant film but I felt very engaged watching the story and the performances, and so did my friends. Definitely deserved better!

Nice showcase for the incredible Liza Minnelli, and Julie Walters is a wily scene-stealer. This is also one of Shelley Winters' best latter-day roles, and she is memorable.
interesting note that I think Liza claimed that she never really tapped before she began this show, and she took the time to really dig in and study hard to be a hoofer. What I find fascinating is that one of her early beau's was Tracey Everrit (who was also on Judy's show), started out as a tapper. Liza at that time was trying be like her mother was when Judy first got to metro was a sponge and soaked out so much from so many talented people. Liza during the 1960s was doing the same thing. Which is why I find it a little weird that even though Liza and Tracey worked on Steam Heat together, she never asked him to show her how to tap.
Liza's incredible dancing skills combined with her iconic voice puts her in a class all on her own.
