for real guys, please stop commenting about the beat. this is a fun edit I made spontaneously. I'm getting the same kinds of comments over and over about beat counts. but if you really want to comment, then do because it helps the algorithm. thanks :) hope you all are having a great day!!
All I know is that this is a unique representation of MJ at his best with the dance moves to match. Excellent job 👏 ❤️
I've always wanted to see Fred Astaire dance to "Sharp Dressed Man" by ZZ Top.
Please?
Or put your own video out. Clowns
It's wonderful, Elissa.
@@helenfitch3440 I would if I could, but I lack the requisite talent to do something this freakin awesome.
The great thing about this video is that Michael was a huge fan of old musicals ! Those dancers were his idols !
I heard when he did his first moonwalk ..Fred Astaire rang him and complimented him
I heard that about Fred Astaire too. I thought that was a fantastic thing for him to do since Michael Jackson was such a fan of his.
You could totally see it in his moves. That's what makes the greats legendary; learn from the best and put your own spin on it.
I love the old musicals and dancing such as Fred and Ginger.
😊
When dancing was dancing.
Yep, when a lot of things were what they were and not identifying as something else!
I'm trying hard not to make an idiotic response
You know gam gam and pop pop weren't doing this when they went out dancing right?
@@jameyst.peters4678 Wow, that was deep.
Was it? Cos younwas acting like folks burst into song and dance choreographed routines have slowly descended into mindless gyrations. You're watching idealistic musicals. It's not a historical documentary. You can still very much see this kind of dancing and singing if you watch musicals from today too.
I am 80 and grew up watching most of these musicals. Your video clips show the younger generation what great moves these dancers created. Wonderful clips.
@@Robert_Robertson Judy Garland with Gene Kelly.
The fitness level and skill of the old Hollywood 'hoofers' as they used to be known is off the chart. Gene Kelly was an unbelievably talented dancer. As for the first time I saw Donald O' Connor effortlessly dance up an actual wall? (no camera trickery). It was breath taking.
Yes!
Totally agree! My personal favourite is Fred Astaire, but they were all remarkably talented. Great days!
I agree all the way. Some of the rehearsals must have been grueling.
Yes, Donald O'Conner was fantastic. There's a video of him dancing on roller skates. That would be fun to see set to one of these uptown funk music videos.
@@andrewvelonis5940 , Yes, Debbie Reynolds did an interview where she talked about how difficult it was for her to do the dance scene over the sofa with Gene Kelly & Donald O'Connor. They were already experienced professionals & she was just starting out.
Brilliant.
The person that synchronized this video is a GENIOUS. Wonderful masterpiece. Kudos
thank you so much!!
Yes❗️synchronised at a degree of excellence❗️soooooo cool😎😎😎😎
@@ElissaStelzner Could you post more old movie clips of Michael Jackson songs cause they will go together well. Especially Wanna Be Starting Something, And Otters off the Off The Wall Album. I must say this was a great era of songs before the Thriller album, so much that I always got both albums mixed up cause the songs sound very similar.
@@cdsouthsidec1 it takes a very long time to make these, so if I ever have time I will
Superb Job!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🥰🖖
The really cool thing about this is that Michael Jackson was one of the few people who ever could have seen ALL these dance moves and legitimately think “I could do that.”
Michael has said he copied a lot of the moves from these very people, some of them were on his video "The Legend Continues"
Yesssssss, you are soooo right! Never thought about it that way! 😳👍
Je comprends pourquoi j'adorais ces films de danse qd
j'étais enfant et 30 ans plus tard cette même 'énergie que dégageait MJ
Michael was fond of Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers. But once James Brown came years later on the scene, that was a wrap. 🕺❤❤❤🎼
He became a king of pop music.
@@evinlov 89ki
Loved it
Michael actually got a lot of inspiration from these old times actors, so this is great to see!
Sammy dancing on the bar while shooting pistols... you gotta love that one!
when dancing was an art beautiful
Even more amazing than the editing is the fact that someone has actually seen and remembers the dance sequences from so many vintage films.
thank you!! I'm a film student and have been studying old musicals in my spare time so it came naturally lol
Awesome job!
Mj will be smiling from heaven, his two favourite dancers, gene Kelly Fred astaire dancing to his music, absolutely brilliant
I’ve got MAD RESPECT for Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly & Donald O’Connor!! Those cats have got serious rhythm!! You could synchronize any R&B tune to their dancing skills and they would light it up!!
You forgot all the women dancers!
Vera-Ellen could dance as well as any of the men. (Besides being a total doll! So sad she passed at only 60 years old.)
I could watch that until I fell asleep at my keyboard.
don't forget the Nicholas brothers
What about the kid's? Sherlly Temple and others.
Awesome!! MJ would have LOVED this!!!
Incredible production!!! Love the creativity of mixing this music with all these old movies. Congratulations!
thank you so much!
ME, TOO! ❤❤❤🕺💃
@@ElissaStelzner ... are you the one who compiled & edited this??
@@briannab5296 yeah!
I like all these moves..
Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire,Ginger Rogers, dance on air.
They had style, they had grace...
@ZACHARIAS PLANK:
Madame X couldn’t have put it better!
I’m about to share this video, & if you don’t mind, I’ll use your/her comment 💃

@@Cristobels-Green-Boots OK, do it honey . ❤❤❤ from Germany .
This was a time when there was real talent........
OK -- this is AWESOME. I love the details too -- like clap alignments and super tight cuts. Really nicely done. This must have taken forever.
thank you so much! and yeah it took a few days to edit
@@ElissaStelzner Final Cut? or Adobe?
@@LateNightIM adobe :)
This is talent and discipline. Both of which are lacking today.
Great...
Michael Jackson's type of Entertainment.
Can you believe he sang
A song THAT COULD BE USED AND
CHOREOGRAPHED BY MULTI TYPES OF DANCE MOVEMENTS AND BE IN SYNC.......
THAT WAS MJ....THE ABSOLUTE ENTERTAINER.
I'm huge fan of all these old dancing movies. I love watching these compilations
OLD HOLLYWOOD...When actors had talent.
You mean instead of opinions?
Maggie Garber...no one mentioned OPINIONS...
Michael Jackson is a unstoppable genius
👍
Very clever indeed and loads of fun. _Off the Wall_ is one of my favourite albums of all time, and Fred Astaire is watchable any day of the week - pure class. Thank you!
He's my favorite, too.
Fred Astaire is my #1 idol. I adore him, love his style and grace and elegant form and wish only that he had been born, say, a decade or two later just bc by the time the films began, he was already in his 30s. Imagine how cool it would have been to watch him grow from a young adult into his 20s with his talent and energy! (Not that I can think of anything in particular we missed as a result of him starting late but still…) 👏👏👏👏👏
A testament to two things: The master talent of the dancers and the timelessness of Michael Jackson’s music produced by Quincy Jones. A lot of greatness happening here!
Absolutely fantastic. Really enjoyed watching this.
thanks!
No one can dance as great as these top dancers just Brilliant!! ♥️♥️
*Amazing how it ALL works with these old film dances!* _Epic_
Absolutely astonishing how well-done this is!! I’m an Apache and we simply observe, mainly. Not many comments. But this one makes me want to dance again. So thanks!!!!!😀
thank you!
Sweet! Apache and Cherokee here ( and two other non-Native American ancestries ).
I agree, but I didn’t get what you meant by observing and usually no comment because you’re an Apache. What did you mean by that?
Incredible editing! Shows different generations have the same dance energy early on
thank you!
Absolutely wonderful. The hours spent finding the right moves to go with the music.
Kudos to the people that put this together absolutely fantastic
it was just me who edited it. thanks!!
I think I've seen every one of the movies these dances were taken from. I grew up watching the musicals from the 40s. Great job syncing the music and the dancing.
awesome! thank you!
Do you know what movie was at the 50 second mark? They are wearing red and green. Maybe a Christmas movie? I would like to check it out!
@@edbackos8456 yes! that's White Christmas. I would really recommend it. it's a good one
@@edbackos8456 White Christmas with Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and the powerhouse dancer in the clips, Vera Ellen. It's available on most of the streaming services these days. Wonderful movie. Lots of fun.
Can you please list the movies . I would love to see them all . Thank you
This is so cool. Michael said he would watch and learn the dance moves from old movies when he was young. Janet did also.
What’s very sad, most young adults and children have no idea who these great artists are!
there's a whole Old Hollywood community on Instagram run by mostly gen z! I'm part of that lol
Don't worry, there are still those of us who do. :')
That is so true.
@@ElissaStelzner gib me da ig
@@gatsbymaguire im @timeless.sinatra on IG!
Back in a time when people had talent
I wish Michael was here to see this. He’d love it.
Now that's swagger at 00:41. The professionalism and talent to make it look so effortless and light on his feet to look like he is literally floating, is off the charts.
Best Dancers of all time 😘😘
The Nicholas Brothers at 1:30 actually danced with Michael Jackson as part of an ensemble in the 70s!
Best of both worlds. Loved it
I'm glad you enjoyed!
amen
absolutely fantastic! just shows the timelessness of those dance routines and yes the awesome skills of Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire in particular and Michael Jacksons music.
Love the mash up. What a god Gene Kelly was. What I've give to be able to move and look like him. Everyone in this is wonderful and beautiful. Pure joy!
glad you enjoyed!!
Love me some MJ. Always have and always will!
Absolute Elegance Grace and Beauty.. Electric and Powerful !!!!!! Wow! Respect
MJ would have loved this!!! He was a huge fan of the classics.
Incredible talent.
Brings joy to my heart.
The best entertainment for the evenings with your family.
Thanks MOM
Great song and Great dancing
The foot movement is fantastic!! 👏👍👍
Awesome. Whoever put this together is a genius.
thank you!!
Masterful compilation … this was excellent.
I STILL think Gene Kelly could beat out anyone today. You do t realize how much energy/ stamina/rhythm that guys had.
He was fantastic! So masculine🥰
Fred Astaire was unbelievably talented, followed by Gene Kelly. They were the very best!
Gene Kelly was made of 100% human muscular tissue. He was artistic and athletic in perfectly blended measure and that is why he could move like there was no gravity.
5 heel clickers on roller skates while feigning losing balance then running msn finish smile for the camera all in 1 take amazing
Definitely couldn't beat the Nicholas brothers
That music and dance makes me so happy to see and hear it.
White Christmas is one of my favorite movies. The dancing is incredible.
yesss
Great movie! But who was the young man dancing with the blond lady. She's wearing white and he is wearing the green outfit. He is a great dancer., Just wish y knew his name.
Vera Ellen and John Brascia@@Tmeister677

wow thank you so much!!
Gene Kelly - epitomizes charm, talent and extreme physical shape- the best dancer ever.
100% agree with you....masculine, and so talented.
Absolutely agree!!
Gene Kelly fantastic male dancer who allowed it to be cool for men to get into dance. Everything and he was a pretty decent guy too xxx
Oh Absolutely... Couldn't agree with you more... Amazing Dancer!!
Which one is he
Have just accidentally found Tony Coates. Love them. What a joy to watch. Not enough dancing and joy in films these days. Keep doing it. 🎉🎉🎉
Mike would be LOVING this! ❤️
A masterpiece 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Fabulous! This deserves millions of views. Thank you so much for creating it.
thank you so much!!
I loved this. So much energy and style.
I'm glad you enjoyed!
This is so cool. Reminds me of the Uptown Funk video. This video is celebrating all the GOATs, including the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson. Great job to whomever edited this video. Timing of the music and clips together were so good. 😎👍
thank you so much!
I'm loving this .😃😃😄.they put this together very well.I sure do misses Sir Michael Jackson. Long live the king of pop.also some of these people dancing is legendary. Respect to them also.this is my favorite song.

I loved musicals. I've seen quite a bit of the ones shown. This video takes me back to childhood, and it is paired just right with MJ's music.
So cool how you put this together. Michael would be amazed to see all these great old stars like this. He had the utmost respect for them. Thank you.
That was FREAKING awesome! Thank you. 👏👏👏😁
thank you!
So much fun to watch. It must have taken hours and hours to not only find these movie clips, but choose just the right dances to go with the music! Well done!
thank you!
Donald O'Connor was the one on Roller skates,, even walked up the wall,, very talented dancer and comedian..
This video proves that legendary Hollywood Stars can dance to Michael Jackson's songs 🎵.

That was Excellent all the way.
Much hard work to coordinate the steps with Michael.
Sammy Davis Jr. Actually Did the Moon Walk. King of Pop Lives in everyone's memory. Thank you.

you never know 🤷♀️ it’s possible!
Ann Miller - Best legs in the industry. Appreciate the recognition.
You can see MJ in their dance steps! You can even see a few of his videos too. I saw smooth criminal and the bar scene from you rock my world! That was so fun to watch! 😁 💖 🤗 MJ really captured the essence of all these great dancers.
More to the point, you can see THEM in MJ. Remember who came first...
Wasn't Michael a Gene Kelly fan?
Absolutely brilliant!

This was a joy to watch. Thank you for making this. The editing was on point. I'd love to see a list of al of the films featured in the video. I love old movies and some of these scenes making me want to watch some I didn't recognize.
thank you! there's a list of the movies somewhere else in the comments.
I think that Michael Jackson is smiling down from Heaven 👍😊
Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire..the two greatest dancers to walk the earth. The like won’t be seen again.
To think Gene Kelly wanted to play shortstop for the Pittsburgh Pirates. I hate to say it but I'm glad that didn't happen.
Thank you...This is Fabulous !
Great dance is great dance! Brilliant, and so much fun!!
Micheal was so far ahead of his time. His music was ageless. R. I.P Micheal
Going down the stairs at 1:59 was too cool.
Massive fan of musicals here! Loved watching this compilation! Thank you so much!
so glad you enjoyed!!
Oh, what times those were!... When the dance that women did was Elegant, Graceful and above all Respectable!....(and this comes from a Woman)
it is so good that his music beats with the old stuff love it thank you
WONDERFULLY DONE!!!!?
I read in several places that Michael really loved Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire. I think MJ would have loved this!
It’s amazing! How super professional these dancers are) Bravo
Absolutely BRILLIANT!

I love the old movies. That's all, I love ❤️ the old movies.

You could watch these clips without sound, just to appreciate the talent of these stars and the choreography.
I think Michael Jackson would have absolutely loved this, and I think that all of these great dancers would have loved it as well to see them dancing to his music:-) one day, maybe they'll all be dancing together in heaven :-) what a show that will be!
