for real guys, please stop commenting about the beat. this is a fun edit I made spontaneously. I'm getting the same kinds of comments over and over about beat counts. but if you really want to comment, then do because it helps the algorithm. thanks :) hope you all are having a great day!!
All I know is that this is a unique representation of MJ at his best with the dance moves to match. Excellent job 👏 ❤️
I've always wanted to see Fred Astaire dance to "Sharp Dressed Man" by ZZ Top.
Please?
Or put your own video out. Clowns
It's wonderful, Elissa.
@@helenfitch3440 I would if I could, but I lack the requisite talent to do something this freakin awesome.
It was a real treat to watch these amazing dancers to MJ's music.
The great thing about this video is that Michael was a huge fan of old musicals ! Those dancers were his idols !
I heard when he did his first moonwalk ..Fred Astaire rang him and complimented him
I heard that about Fred Astaire too. I thought that was a fantastic thing for him to do since Michael Jackson was such a fan of his.
You could totally see it in his moves. That's what makes the greats legendary; learn from the best and put your own spin on it.
I love the old musicals and dancing such as Fred and Ginger.
😊
Ann Miller - Best legs in the industry. Appreciate the recognition.
Fabulous! I lived in those decades, saw all those movies, and remember every actor.
Thank you.
Why is the movie.in the closing segment?.. In red and green...i wqnt to wqtch it!! Anyone help me?
Awesome!! MJ would have LOVED this!!!
He was too busy playing with young kids,, To know what was going on around him,.. Sick young man..
Massive fan of musicals here! Loved watching this compilation! Thank you so much!
so glad you enjoyed!!
You could watch these clips without sound, just to appreciate the talent of these stars and the choreography.
it is so good that his music beats with the old stuff love it thank you
Not only is the production really good with impeccable timing, but the selection of many of these old time dance pieces really made me smile. Such a joyous video!
thank you so much!!! glad you enjoyed!
@@ElissaStelzner 👍🏻
I LOVE THIS VIDEO COMPOSITION OF FINE FOND MOVIES WE LOVED AND THE DANCERS, TOO.
I USED TO THINK I WAS CARMEN MIRANDA (THE CHICA BOOM & FRUIT BASKET WEARING SAMBA QUEEN) AND LITTLE SHIRLEY TEMPLE. 😁😁😁🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃 MY BABY SISTER WHO IS LIKE 4 YEARS YOUNGER ALSO THOUGHT SHE WAS THE SAMBA QUEEN DANCING WITH MONDO (SHORT FOR ARMONDO A FAMOUS MUSICIAN BACK IN THE 60s).
THANK YOU FOR SHARING THE VIDEO. ❤❤❤🕺💃🕺💃😇
I'm glad you enjoyed!
Festival de talentos e elegância! Maravilha de outros tempos.
These dancers are captured forever in their glory, and you did an excellent job syncing things up. Not a lot makes me laugh and smile these days. But this, oh wow . . . wonderful. Thank you so much!
thank you! glad you enjoyed!!!
I enjoyed it too
Maravilha ! Amo esses bailarinos ! 👏👏👏👏👏👏💖
Thank you this was phenomenal!!!
thank you! glad you enjoyed!!
Amazing choreography from times past put to Michael's magical voice 💕
Long before I'd gotten to this point, I was already slack-jawed over the primo synchronization of this editing. THEN 1:34 rolled around & those handclaps spot on the beat made me pause and rewatch a couple times in absolute awe. Just genius work on display here. Thanks for the time/effort I know this took. Much respect!
thank you so much!!! so glad you enjoyed!!!
Great dancers are a joy to watch, but I do love these modern montages and updated music.
Oh Yeah, I remember these, Frank, Fred, Sammy, Shirley and all the others - Perfect match right, Michael loved these guys, just loved 'em. Great enjoyment to see them again! Thank you, I was grinning the whole time:)
@@Niecie so glad you enjoyed!! 😁
Wonderful creation. Love to listen every now and then.
thank you! so glad you enjoy!!
Brilliant piece of editing ❤
@@ralphdouglas7066 thank you!
"On the Town" was a great dance movie! I'm glad you included a lot of clips from the film.
it’s one of my favorites!
This is going in my “When You Need a Smile” playlist. Thank you (still smiling)!
@@M0odyBlue aww I’m so glad!!! 🫶🧡
The wonderful human gift we share of creating beautiful dance and music 👍
Those old movie are great to watch. It’s to bad kids now days turn their noses up to watching old movies. They can learn a lot from these old movies. I enjoyed them when I was young and still enjoy watching them. They are called classics for a reason.
there's actually a lot of young people into old movies. most of the old hollywood accounts on Instagram are run by young people, and it's a whole community.
OMGOODNESS,. THIS WAS ABSOLUTELY GREAT...I truly LOVEIT...Thank You Very Much for sharing.... TO ALL PRAY.... Blessings Shalom....
thank you so much!! glad you enjoyed!!
Thanks for sharing, it’s awesome
What a marvelous idea!

Well done!
thank you!
I don't know how they did this but the Best
Well done, and funny AH!
Excelente!
Way Cool!
The best thing Michael Jackson ever did.
SUPER
thank you!
If there were still dancers, of this caliber, we'd sill have movie musicals.
I hope to bring back musicals for the screen one day! One reason why I made this edit is that the old musicals are so amazing!
Sammy at 2:50 worth the watch. You go man!
Seems like I have seen this years ago?? Still great
that was probably the uptown funk version
MARAVILLOSO 😘😍
thank you!
Nice
Just think, some of this footage, is nearly 100 years old now.
I think Michael would like this. Did they get approval right to his music to produce this? Hope so.
🗣️ I LOVE the Dancing 💃🕺
ᕕ[ ˵ ☯ ڡ ☯ ˵ ]┐
Felucidades. Trabajo excepcional
thank you!
All were Michael’s inspirations. Especially Fred Astaire.
As always, Vera Ellen showed that she could dance just as well as even the very best of the men.
yeah! she was so talented
Fun! 😊
Would have preferred Billy Jean, dint stay to the end, clever editing.
Damn bro these guys are dancing in their suits.
amei ❤️😍 regrado a o Rei 👑 do pop 🙋 muito legal 👏♥️♥️♥️✌🏼😁
When Hollywood built dreams...
I am 80 and grew up watching most of these musicals. Your video clips show the younger generation what great moves these dancers created. Wonderful clips.
@@Robert_Robertson Judy Garland with Gene Kelly.
I remember these as well. It seems like every movie was a musical. The actors always broke into song and dance, except the westerns and horror movies
When dancing was dancing.
Yep, when a lot of things were what they were and not identifying as something else!
I'm trying hard not to make an idiotic response
You know gam gam and pop pop weren't doing this when they went out dancing right?
@@jameyst.peters4678 Wow, that was deep.
Was it? Cos younwas acting like folks burst into song and dance choreographed routines have slowly descended into mindless gyrations. You're watching idealistic musicals. It's not a historical documentary. You can still very much see this kind of dancing and singing if you watch musicals from today too.
The best compliment you can give Ginger Rogers is that she matched every move that Fred Astaire made.......except backwards and in high heels.
Exactly!! 😊
Incredible production!!! Love the creativity of mixing this music with all these old movies. Congratulations!
thank you so much!
ME, TOO! ❤❤❤🕺💃
@@ElissaStelzner ... are you the one who compiled & edited this??
@@briannab5296 yeah!
I like all these moves..
Brilliant.
The person that synchronized this video is a GENIOUS. Wonderful masterpiece. Kudos
thank you so much!!
Yes❗️synchronised at a degree of excellence❗️soooooo cool😎😎😎😎
@@ElissaStelzner Could you post more old movie clips of Michael Jackson songs cause they will go together well. Especially Wanna Be Starting Something, And Otters off the Off The Wall Album. I must say this was a great era of songs before the Thriller album, so much that I always got both albums mixed up cause the songs sound very similar.
@@cdsouthsidec1 it takes a very long time to make these, so if I ever have time I will
Superb Job!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🥰🖖
I’ve got MAD RESPECT for Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly & Donald O’Connor!! Those cats have got serious rhythm!! You could synchronize any R&B tune to their dancing skills and they would light it up!!
You forgot all the women dancers!
Vera-Ellen could dance as well as any of the men. (Besides being a total doll! So sad she passed at only 60 years old.)
I could watch that until I fell asleep at my keyboard.
don't forget the Nicholas brothers
What about the kid's? Sherlly Temple and others.
The fitness level and skill of the old Hollywood 'hoofers' as they used to be known is off the chart. Gene Kelly was an unbelievably talented dancer. As for the first time I saw Donald O' Connor effortlessly dance up an actual wall? (no camera trickery). It was breath taking.
Yes!
Totally agree! My personal favourite is Fred Astaire, but they were all remarkably talented. Great days!
I agree all the way. Some of the rehearsals must have been grueling.
I know that scene well, from, 'Singin' In The Rain'. O' Connor, as with many of his peers, could dance up a storm.
OK -- this is AWESOME. I love the details too -- like clap alignments and super tight cuts. Really nicely done. This must have taken forever.
thank you so much! and yeah it took a few days to edit
@@ElissaStelzner Final Cut? or Adobe?
@@LateNightIM adobe :)
Gene Kelly, Fred Astaire,Ginger Rogers, dance on air.
They had style, they had grace...

@@Cristobels-Green-Boots OK, do it honey . ❤❤❤ from Germany .
Masterful compilation … this was excellent.
I STILL think Gene Kelly could beat out anyone today. You do t realize how much energy/ stamina/rhythm that guys had.
He was fantastic! So masculine🥰
Fred Astaire was unbelievably talented, followed by Gene Kelly. They were the very best!
Gene Kelly was made of 100% human muscular tissue. He was artistic and athletic in perfectly blended measure and that is why he could move like there was no gravity.
5 heel clickers on roller skates while feigning losing balance then running msn finish smile for the camera all in 1 take amazing
Definitely couldn't beat the Nicholas brothers
Sammy dancing on the bar while shooting pistols... you gotta love that one!
Yeh..but most don't know it but Sammy was one of the best real gunslingers in Hollywood. Check out his gunslinging skills.
Very clever indeed and loads of fun. _Off the Wall_ is one of my favourite albums of all time, and Fred Astaire is watchable any day of the week - pure class. Thank you!
He's my favorite, too.
Fred Astaire is my #1 idol. I adore him, love his style and grace and elegant form and wish only that he had been born, say, a decade or two later just bc by the time the films began, he was already in his 30s. Imagine how cool it would have been to watch him grow from a young adult into his 20s with his talent and energy! (Not that I can think of anything in particular we missed as a result of him starting late but still…) 👏👏👏👏👏
Absolutely astonishing how well-done this is!! I’m an Apache and we simply observe, mainly. Not many comments. But this one makes me want to dance again. So thanks!!!!!😀
thank you!
Sweet! Apache and Cherokee here ( and two other non-Native American ancestries ).
I agree, but I didn’t get what you meant by observing and usually no comment because you’re an Apache. What did you mean by that?
The really cool thing about this is that Michael Jackson was one of the few people who ever could have seen ALL these dance moves and legitimately think “I could do that.”
Michael has said he copied a lot of the moves from these very people, some of them were on his video "The Legend Continues"
Yesssssss, you are soooo right! Never thought about it that way! 😳👍
Je comprends pourquoi j'adorais ces films de danse qd
j'étais enfant et 30 ans plus tard cette même 'énergie que dégageait MJ
Michael was fond of Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers. But once James Brown came years later on the scene, that was a wrap. 🕺❤❤❤🎼
He became a king of pop music.

Loved it
What’s very sad, most young adults and children have no idea who these great artists are!
there's a whole Old Hollywood community on Instagram run by mostly gen z! I'm part of that lol
Don't worry, there are still those of us who do. :')
That is so true.

thanks!
Even more amazing than the editing is the fact that someone has actually seen and remembers the dance sequences from so many vintage films.
thank you!! I'm a film student and have been studying old musicals in my spare time so it came naturally lol
Awesome job!
@@caroleemoreno8086 You NEVER forget the super, and classy dancers in those old movies. They had pure STYLE oozing out of their bodies. Now all that is left for an old man (90 years of age) is to sit at my PC and pay homage to the style, timing, and class that they embodied.
When Hollywood had talent
I think I've seen every one of the movies these dances were taken from. I grew up watching the musicals from the 40s. Great job syncing the music and the dancing.
awesome! thank you!
Do you know what movie was at the 50 second mark? They are wearing red and green. Maybe a Christmas movie? I would like to check it out!
@@edbackos8456 yes! that's White Christmas. I would really recommend it. it's a good one
@@edbackos8456 White Christmas with Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney, and the powerhouse dancer in the clips, Vera Ellen. It's available on most of the streaming services these days. Wonderful movie. Lots of fun.
Can you please list the movies . I would love to see them all . Thank you
This was a joy to watch. Thank you for making this. The editing was on point. I'd love to see a list of al of the films featured in the video. I love old movies and some of these scenes making me want to watch some I didn't recognize.
thank you! there's a list of the movies somewhere else in the comments.
Great...
Michael Jackson's type of Entertainment.
Can you believe he sang
A song THAT COULD BE USED AND
CHOREOGRAPHED BY MULTI TYPES OF DANCE MOVEMENTS AND BE IN SYNC.......
THAT WAS MJ....THE ABSOLUTE ENTERTAINER.
Mj will be smiling from heaven, his two favourite dancers, gene Kelly Fred astaire dancing to his music, absolutely brilliant
This was a time when there was real talent........
When life was simpler. This was a great trip down memory lane. Thank you .
glad you enjoyed!!! 😁
Michael actually got a lot of inspiration from these old times actors, so this is great to see!
The Nicholas Brothers at 1:30 actually danced with Michael Jackson as part of an ensemble in the 70s!
Love the mash up. What a god Gene Kelly was. What I've give to be able to move and look like him. Everyone in this is wonderful and beautiful. Pure joy!
glad you enjoyed!!
absolutely fantastic! just shows the timelessness of those dance routines and yes the awesome skills of Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire in particular and Michael Jacksons music.
Donald O'Connor was so underrated!
Agreed - never got the true amount of recognition he so thoroughly deserved.
Gene Kelly - epitomizes charm, talent and extreme physical shape- the best dancer ever.
100% agree with you....masculine, and so talented.
Absolutely agree!!
Gene Kelly fantastic male dancer who allowed it to be cool for men to get into dance. Everything and he was a pretty decent guy too xxx
Oh Absolutely... Couldn't agree with you more... Amazing Dancer!!
Which one is he
No one can dance as great as these top dancers just Brilliant!! ♥️♥️
I'm huge fan of all these old dancing movies. I love watching these compilations
Oh, what times those were!... When the dance that women did was Elegant, Graceful and above all Respectable!....(and this comes from a Woman)
Incredible editing! Shows different generations have the same dance energy early on
thank you!

wow thank you so much!!
A testament to two things: The master talent of the dancers and the timelessness of Michael Jackson’s music produced by Quincy Jones. A lot of greatness happening here!
Now THATS what I call DANCING!! 👍👍😍😍
Michael Jackson is a unstoppable genius

That man was a sick man,, Messing with all those young kids.. I call that sick.
