Your interactions with that old lady are an absolute inspiration. What's that saying? "I'm in the trades to help people with practical problems, not to get rich. If I wanted to be rich, I'd be a politician."
Hi James I would just like to say I have been watching your videos for years and I had never even touched water pipes before but thanks to your videos (and others' videos) I have recently reworked my mum & dads bathroom pipework amongst other bathroom remodelling stuffs so thanks pal. Hold tight!
You help my depression so much thank you. Ive got a window cleaning business and ive been doing it 15 years now. Pays well but I'm thinking of doing your plumbing course, but im severely dyslexic i wonder if i would be able to do it. Thanks for all the effort you put into these videos and your sesnse of humor to.
Yes you will be able to do it! Discovered I was dyslexic when I was 40 well that explained a lot! Early years were very confusing and lets face it your confidence gets smashed. By chance I followed my passion in electrics and engineering ending up running a successful business. When computers came along with spell checkers it was a gift. Dyslexics tend to run their own businesses as we do things our way, your already doing that, think on our feet, solve problems, you will do good go for it. BTW I do my own plumbing just love the finished pipe work in copper, its art! Simple things eh but Im happy!
I love how you guys keep working on the video format - improving the editing, adding new little bits, new styles, that little section with the prof, hehe. Very awesome! :D Congratulations, mate!
4am is the time , as if you were frozen in time , time to sleep , to keep the dream alive , till I awoke and realised you were just a bloke , on the tools , love your channel and your demeanour
Use some Valsir lubricant on the threads made of plastic. Now it will not drip. It'd be easy to screw and unscrew. You will not need the filter tool if Valsir has been used. 15:40 Valsir goes also in the whole assembly (but not on the brass) threads at 25:56. I have lots of it and is a never-have-enough item. For the amateurs, remove the air from the tube before closing the tube, for the lubricant to remain fresh for longer. DO NOT use a tool for screwing the plastic housing of filters when using Valsir in the plastic threads.
You are amazing my Dad and Grandpa were plumbers my self and two brothers are plumbers, You are very kind taking care of the older lady, That was one of the first lessons he taught us , Look after the older people, It’s not all about the money 💰 Congratulations on the new baby, You are not a good plumber 👨🔧 You are a great plumber Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪 Our Sir name is Dunne , If a Dunne can’t do it , It can’t be done 😅😊
Our wonderful contractor did the hosepipe method amd dumped all the fluid out of he heating system in the garden, only trouble is 8ts an air spurce heatpump so they just illegally don't umped many many litres of anti-freeze out. Worse they then filled the system back up with neat water. Every time this company tpuches stiff they make everything worse. Couple years ago they diagnosed an air blockage as a faulty boiler.... Shambles of a company
James ma man I took a days holiday from being the janitor of the local school & what did I do .. sat in my jammies and watched about 7hrs of your videos & mate you are something else when it comes to plumbing and heating & I come across hunners of plumbers & they are a joke.. I’ve been taught many a plumbing tips and tricks from you. Well done James. Ronnie all the way up in Bonnie Scotland 👍🏻
Hello mate , I'm a fresh newbie. I've been doing my lvl 3 plumbing apprentice for about 2 years now , but due to lack of work and working for agencies that don't care for you at all , I lack so much needed knowledge. Blagging can only get you so far. I've been set a task by my teacher at college and I can't find any videos that go in enough detail. I was wondering if us apprentices could get a video of you and a whiteboard going through different types of systems: Can you start off from the mains out in the road and give us all the fittings that lead up to the boiler and why they are needed , for example pressure reducing , strainers , isolation valves etc Can you also explain how accumulator systems work and how a double storage tank system works. Cheers mate.
Great video as usual, you are bonkers! I have a quick question, my expansion vessel is shot in my boiler and I will fit a remote one for now, i hope the valve survives on the faulty one and water does not start to come out at some stage as don't want to take boiler off wall to get to it! My question is about air in the system, i am a DIY'r so guess some will say leave well alone, however I will fit the vessel myself. Will air not get trapped in the vessel? or does air in a sealed system get perculated around and find its way to the highest point? Just thought if air is pushed into the vessel, how will it escape if there is not bleed valve , automatic or manual near it? Appreciate anyone's feedback Jase
Fantastic video. So informative. Question: Ecotec 630, megaflo unvented. The only expansion vessel I have is the one inside the boiler. Megaflo has an internal air gap but I'm always intrigued why my system seems not to need a red or a white one? Never loses pressure and all working fine btw
You answered your own question. Boilers expansion vessel takes care of the heating side. Cylinders air bubble takes care of the hot water side. The cylinder you see in the video doesn't have an internal air bubble so an external expansion vessel is required.
@@MagicDoughnut well I suppose. It's a 14 rad system and the vessel looks quite small. Anyway, why aren't other systems set up this way. So simple without all that iron. I guess that's what I'm really asking. Thanks for responding.
That’s a hansgrohe inbox. The plumber before clearly did not know what he was doing and wanted to rip off the client as they are always serviceable and the whole unit can be changed without touching any tiles. Well done on a great repair
Congrats on your young fella coming into the world btw 😊 Seems silly now but I've a question on expansion vessels... Should they be inverted instead of upright?! Do air bubbles get up into the water side of the diaphragm when fitted with hole at the bottom ! 🤔
Worried me a bit. I had a new boiler/system upgrade in 2021 to a Worcester Bosch 30i and teh engineer said teh expansion vessel in teh boiler is not enough and fitted another. Well I have just looked at it and it is 12 L. So how long will that last as you did not specify the age of the failed one? I have 12 rads various sizes and the boiler is a systems as I have kept the HW cylinder with tank in the loft. You certainly have a variety of jobs.
I was just wondering when you say the house had 13 radiators. Do you mean 13 complete radiators or are you classed a type 22 as 2 radiators? Just so myself, a DIYer can look at my expansion vessels. (Ps, what was the white expansion vessel for in the first half of the. Hope you are all well, we will look for the telltale bags under your eyes as a new dad.)
I understood everything you said except about cricket. That English was near impossible for me to understand here in America. Love your channel and congrats on the new baby.

they can be fitted any orientation.. even sideways...air moves from the bladder to the water chamber.
That expansion vessel the right one in the first place?
James... do u ever use the honeywell automatic air vent with the valve built-in to it. They are awesome
Does the course follow, water supply, water fittings regulation 1999
The professor plumb sketch killed me😂
Most likely the rubber was stuck to the schrader valve internally where it lost air, not letting you now pump up. New vessel required.

they last from 5-10 years. 12Ltr or 16Ltr vessels are what's normally fitted, higher the better for more rads.
