I immediately thought of you for both of those heartbreaking browns games earlier this year lol As an FSU fan it's weird seeing how bad Aguayo turned out as it just seemed like he couldn't miss in college. His younger brother is currently really struggling, so maybe he'll be good in the NFL? Seems to be how it works heh
Roberto can't kick in the NFL, and Ricky can't kick in the NCAA. By kicker logic, Ricky will become the next Adam Vinatieri. It just works out. (Also, as a fellow FSU fan, the Orange Bowl vs. Michigan, when Ricky's PAT got blocked and returned to the house, I fell to my knees and nearly cried. Eric Andreen Honestly, I have no idea. I think he cracked under the pressure, and lost his confidence. It’s really sad. He was a machine, but things just didn’t work out.
My favourite kicker. 2nd round draft pick in 1992. 21 years in the NFL- all with one team, in the top 5 all-time scoring and very reliable kicker. Played with three of the greatest players at their respective positions of all time. And yet, he never won a playoff game. Being part of one of the worst teams all-time didn't discourage him from continuing to play or leave the team. Jason Hanson-Detroit Lions.
Kickers are the deciding factor between a couple games every yr for teams... just this past weekend, a chip shot 37 yard miss by Washington cost them the game vs Oregon and basically ended their season

well imagine you having to kick it 50+ yards and if you dont make it your team will lose the playoffs. you have to judge wind accuracy and know exactly where to kick it, you also have to trust the holder to place it right too so it would be game winning clutch

My father was an all-american kicker and still has school records from 30 years ago, also played with a few NFL teams. When I'd tell people at school about him and see their awestruck faces, all that awe would almost instantly disappear when I'd say he was the kicker. One kid even used it as an insult against me, like "your dad was a kicker, dude." Grown ass adults would shake their heads in disappointment as if I had just said my dad was the waterboy or something. One guy even repeatedly asked "you mean kick RETURNER, right?" It didn't matter how many NCAA-wide honors he had, it didn't matter how many games he saved back in the day, it didn't matter that he was good enough to get NFL letters. Being a kicker meant he was worthless. Even I played punter in high school and hated being under the demeaning shroud of "you're JUST the punter". I was a decent punter and actually got some smaller college offers solely from my JV footage, but I hated how I was treated at school, how non-football players would laugh and mock me as if being a punter wasn't a real position. It got to me so much that I demanded to play an "actual" position, being outside linebacker...which I sucked at. I regret leaving the punting position as it was something I was halfway decent at, but I can only imagine what my father went through; he was actually legendary and people still mocked him solely because of what position he played. True story about Vinateri. When I was in 5th grade he came to visit us. I was born in 86. He signed cards and answered questions. Our town was 45 minutes from foxboro and school had 3 grades of kids. All I remember is some kid asking him about linebacker Vincent Brown and Vinateri not knowing what to say and how uncomfortable he looks in my brain when I remember it.
I had completely forgotten about one of the Packers Bears games all time. Charles Martin hammering Jim McMahon, Instant replay game Chester Marcol. The cocaine you spoke of was tough on him his life after football was not easy he tried to commit suicide by drinking battery acid but survived. Chester if your reading this thanks for the best childhood moments that somehow I forgot.
I'm sad you failed to mention Janikowski at all. That dude is a... weird.. beast of a Polish Kicker. Dude only has like an 80.2% completion rate or something like that (and has almost been in as long as vinatieri ) but what he's known for is he's the Kicker with the most Attempted and most made field goals past 50 yards. His foot is insane. His overall percentage is lower than most kickers of his experience (18 years before retiring) because of his 105 attempts past 50 yards, with a 55% completion rate (that's pretty high for that far out) - He's one of my all time favorite kickers and I actually LOVED watching him come out on the field.
I find it so strange that kickers that are amazing at the college level usually suck when they go to the NFL. Like college quarterbacks having trouble adjusting to NFL defense I understand, but how is kicking at the college level and NFL level very different? Goal post is still same dimensions, and yards are still yards.
NFL footballs have electronics inside, that's how they get the good from yardage on kicks. Don't know how much it affects kicking but the XFL balls also have technology and it was making the balls fly weird and kickers had low field goal percentages because of it.
Funny how even the great kickers are almost all but forgotten until they’re needed and yet they are probably one of the most important. I guess that could be attributed to the fact that most of their interaction on the field is relegated to PAT’s and kickoffs but still they come in clutch many times throughout their career.
KTO, I have a bff who was a kicker at TCU who's now graduated and runs a kicking camp and is very sweet, chill, and religious. Kinda a kickers version of Tim Tebow but not as much ( we don't shove religion at people at TCU, it just isn't our thing) oh, and Jaden Oberkrom is also a cancer survivor, so he's definitely got a never give up vibe.
Wil Lutz & Tom Morestead consoling Gonzalez after that loss was a great display of sportsmanship. Other weird kicker trivia: The Jets signed the US Men's Soccer goalie, Tony Meola as a kicker. Tom Dempsey set a 63-yard record despite being born with 1/2 a foot. The NFL created the "Dempsey" rule due to his success. Justin Tucker is a classically trained baritone. And half and the kickers in the game are cooking too- small shoes before the game, jamming their foot in, and letting it shrink & tighten as it cools.
It's amazing how many times the miss fg by the Vikings in 98 is still mentioned. Vikings were 15-1, but Falcons 14-2 that year. It wasn't an upset. Vikings were outplayed and outcoached in that game. And like so many other championship games, it comes down to a kick. 7:20
I've always liked kickers and punters. I was glad for Harrison Butker of the Chiefs being on the Super Bowl winning team as he was the all-time leading scorer at Georgia Tech.
That field goal that dinged off the bottom crossbar should have never even taken place. Let me explain. There was like 2 minutes left in the game. The Ravens needed a field goal to take the lead. Willis McGahee was the Ravens RB that game and he ran for like 200 yards that day. The Ravens are almost in field goal range. Willis runs for 9 yards on first down and barely puts them in field goal range. Now, instead of running the ball again to burn clock and/or Browns timeouts AND get the first down, the Ravens idiotically decide to call 2 straight pass plays with their awful QB Kyle Boller, which completely stopped the clock with 2 straight incompletions. and THEN they kick the FG. The head coach of the Ravens Brian Billick got fired not too long after this. Can you do a video on idiotic play calls at the end of games?
Kicker even if they arent in the field for most of the game. Has one of the hardest mental job
As a kicker myself I agree, if you over think crap u gonna mess up, so it is very mental.
It's probably as hard as it is BECAUSE of how few attempts you get to do your job.

Hey KTO.
Can you do a video about Non-Americans playing In the NFL? I would like to see It one day.
Saying a 50 yard is good from hitting the crossbar, Justin Tucker, “Am I a Joke to you?”
I love the Phil Dawson days as a browns fan.

ut has showed face, check old videos. He’s actually fat. Like straight up. Yet he’s a better analyst than these retired nfl players

Apparently Zane was playing with a torn groin against New Orleans
Owen Tuckey what about Pittsburgh ? Or last year ?

Hey rodrigo Blankenship was in the thumgbail lol
Ok
I’m a UGA fan so I immediately clicked on it
Make a vid on the 2001 Miami hurricanes!
Imma keep asking you man!
Abhay Iyer7 you could watch the 30for30 but I agree it would be good to watch
Hurricanes?
This is what I call epic storytelling! 06:55
I find it so strange that kickers that are amazing at the college level usually suck when they go to the NFL. Like college quarterbacks having trouble adjusting to NFL defense I understand, but how is kicking at the college level and NFL level very different? Goal post is still same dimensions, and yards are still yards.
Maybe different balls, maybe different weight, maybe the nfl has a version technology in the nfl balls, magnats or something for catches.
NFL footballs have electronics inside, that's how they get the good from yardage on kicks. Don't know how much it affects kicking but the XFL balls also have technology and it was making the balls fly weird and kickers had low field goal percentages because of it.
“Imagine being a bears fan”
*sheds tear* “I don’t have to imagine”
Funny how even the great kickers are almost all but forgotten until they’re needed and yet they are probably one of the most important. I guess that could be attributed to the fact that most of their interaction on the field is relegated to PAT’s and kickoffs but still they come in clutch many times throughout their career.
Football is Handegg
Soccer is Kickball
Anyone else at the super dome when the browns kicker missed 4 field goals, man that was a great day to be a saints fan
What about the 3 college kickers who wore the jersey # 100? (I believe one of them played for WVU and another for Kansas sometime in the 60s)
You sure about that ??
chuck kinder is the wvu kicker who wore jersey #100 in 1963 to commemorate the centennial of wv statehood. lets go mountaineers
@@shadegreen5351 thx for the info!
“Random seatgeek guy”... looks like MG to me
Who is that
U mean mmg
Wil Lutz & Tom Morestead consoling Gonzalez after that loss was a great display of sportsmanship.
Other weird kicker trivia:
The Jets signed the US Men's Soccer goalie, Tony Meola as a kicker.
Chester Michael should have played for the broncos
He truly would have been a mile high
Chester Marcol don't question me I am a packer fan
It's amazing how many times the miss fg by the Vikings in 98 is still mentioned. Vikings were 15-1, but Falcons 14-2 that year. It wasn't an upset. Vikings were outplayed and outcoached in that game. And like so many other championship games, it comes down to a kick. 7:20
I've always liked kickers and punters. I was glad for Harrison Butker of the Chiefs being on the Super Bowl winning team as he was the all-time leading scorer at Georgia Tech.
Robbie Gould was the goat tbh.
*Gould.
Also, he is the greatest.
