  • Step by step how to locate and change a PCV valve on a Toyota Yaris. This job takes 5 minutes and costs $5. It’s the easiest maintenance you will ever do and your car will run so much smoother after. PCV stands for Positive Crankase Ventilation and if your car is burning oil this project is for you.
    Genuine Toyota PCV valve (valve sub-assy) part number 12204-21011. Go to your local Toyota parts and service centre with your 12 digit VIN number and you will always get the correct parts for your car.
    10mm socket for the 4 bolts holding engine cover.
    3/4” socket for the PCV valve.
    If your oil is burnt you will need to change your oil. click the link for ny how to change oil video

    Well done. No stupid music or background distractions. No fumbling with the camera. No foul language. Very clear and informative. I especially like how you tell which size socket to use. I've been working on my own cars for the last 54 years, but will always check out a video on a procedure, even if I've done it before, for there may be a better way of doing something.

    I have diagnosed all mounting and they are perfect but I notice when i don't add Hi-Oct then there are too many jerks but with Hi-Oct or good fuel it jerks but a few times.Secondly, my vitz vibrates when i steer, pressing horn, opening/closing windows/mirrors.I don't know what's wrong with it. May be Battery issue? Electrifier weaken?
    Can you help?

    • @michael77x
      @michael77x  7 лет назад +5

      Jerks are classic symptoms of an ignition coil failing, I would definitely start with that first. It's the black tube sitting above the spark plugs. While your at it, replace the spark plugs because worn plugs and ignition coils can cause significant vibrations. I think this is almost certainly your problem.

    • @michael77x

      It's best to just remove it and look at it. You should hear a clicking noise when you shake it, if not definitely replace it. Other wise if it looks gunky also replace it. If you neglect it you will have to replace the valve cover gaskets, so for $5 bucks just replace it anyway.

      Good question. Yes you can clean it but there is no way of telling if the inside is clean (like the throttle body). You don't want to push the carbon deposits further inside and clog it up. PCV valves are like spark plugs, they are cheap enough just to replace them. I hope that helps.

      Ok if you want to clean it, then it sounds like you have to fully submerge it in solvent or Carby cleaner. Then thoroughly rinse it out using MAF sensor cleaner. Make sure you use anti seize on the threading when you replace it. Where are you located....Antarctica? $150 is way too expensive.
