One thing i noticed about the new game is autosaves eliminate almost all of the difficulty of the original. That suspenseful feeling of running to the nearest bathroom to save is completely gone due to autosaves. I never once felt in danger due to the fact that if i die, i just reload to a point 30 seconds prior.
@clipCommander101 There's only one slot for autosaves and they reload you in the last zone you loaded in. It makes boss fights really easy because you can just retry from there, but if you rely on them too much without saving manually from time to time you can get yourself in a scenario where you are running late on a main mission, fail it, and then having to reload either a save from hours ago or the last autosave (which would probably be useless). A double-edged blade if you're not careful
Very good point I did feel this too, I think I was just having such a good time in the game i kind of forgave it but yes I agree then difficulty has definitely been lost a bit.
Yeah I hope for a remaster too! Definitely a brilliant game and can imagine a lot of people sway more towards the first or second, of which both are worth a whirl!
You’re a man of culture. Someone that recognizes that the original and remaster are S tier. While DR2 and DR3 were good, they weren’t on par with the original. I personally think it’s because they became more goofy with each installment.
The tone definitely began to change, but I think there is something to be said about Willamette itself. Obviously you can't keep the series going in a mall every single time, but the layout of it, the music, the vibe, it was all such specific ingredients that I think set the overall tone of the first over the others as well.
Personally, I think 3 is better than the others. Gameplay wise it's really good, I just didn't care much for the characters (DR1 is better in that regard along with its psychopaths, but I did like Darlene and Dylan from DR3 and the weird costumes)
Oof, i was right with you on the new one until you said Brad sounded good. Lol that was the ONE character i think got a bit of a downgrade in terms of performance. The original Brad had way more gravitas, and the new Brad just seems....forced to me with some of his delivery. Now...the new Brad does a fine job, but comparing them side by side it was the only character that i felt was glaring. Aside from that? Ive been loving the remaster. Lol
That’s completely fair! I guess he just sounded more like a gritty older cop kinda character in the remaster which I liked, but yeah completely subjective and he’s great in both games!
@ZacTheFirst Kent i don't think was too bad, maybe a bit different but overall still gave me the same vibe. The new Brad actor just wasn't sitting well, some of his deliveries just sounded off to my ears.
I agree with OTR being unnecessary. The new zone was cool but I always thought that Frank felt out of place in Fortune City. I'd love a remaster/remake of DR2 as well but if they ever do I hope they bring back Chuck instead of Frank (and I say this as a big fan of Frank West of course). And on a personal note I'd put DR2 in S tier as well. I love Fortune City as much as Willamette, if not more.
Yeah it’s not a particularly bad game or anything, and if folks hadn’t played DR2 maybe they’d favour it a bit more. Ah nice yeah I can see why you’d put DR2 in S to be fair! Quality game 👍

For me personally I really enjoyed DR1 and 2 but I just couldn’t really get into 3 and especially not 4. My main issue with 3 was it just didn’t have any sense of urgency to it and you could go to a safe house and grab 6 mini guns to breeze through any boss fight, the road blocks made traversal a pain in the ass as well, constantly having to check the map for the right route to go.

Yeah, people will tunnel vision the removal of erotica points, communist comments and the voice acting. And despite all that, the game plays fantastically and is true to the original in every way, silent hill 2 won’t be that way so put it in perspective
The remaster is a downgrade for WAYY more reasons than censorship. The A.I. improvements are nice, that’s about it. Mirrors worked 18 years ago but not now? Pathetic. For reference, I’m a huge Capcom fan and I absolutely love RE2 remake and RE4 remake, and have loved almost every single mainline RE game. I also adore DeadRising 3 and I didn’t even *hate* DeadRising 4, I just didn’t like it. So I’m not some snob who hates anything new. No blood splatter on Frank when eliminating crowds of zombies No echo in the mall when people are talking, so all of the fake voice acting sounds even more fake There are NOTICEABLY less zombies in a game that was praised for big amounts of enemies onscreen. The exact same 18 year old animations are used for all of the cutscenes despite the new character models, so the cutscenes look weird and cheap. Characters regularly have stiff facial expressions that feel more awkward than the original. The new voices feel detached from the characters despite having new character models. Some of the brand spanking new character models looking genuinely worse than the originals despite having objectively WAY more detail, many times because of the lighting. The new voice acting is worse across the board, sometimes slightly worse, other times laughably awful anime-dub tier voice acting (Kent, Brad, Brock….. basically any side character has a noticeably fake accent or voice. I can just picture the actor in the booth doing the performance, whereas in the original the characters looked and sounded like they should, even when the acting or dialogue was cheesy. Kent’s is particularly awful in the new game) So much of the charm is lost, with the colorful mall being less colorful, and the “realistic” lighting seemingly looking washed out, and making many of the characters’ hair look grey when it shouldn’t. The cultists don’t pray anymore The game is now made piss easy Bosses are neutered, not just gameplay wise, making them almost a complete non-threat, but also with the censorships to their look and dialogue. VERY noticeable clipping of character models directly on screen in major cutscenes (example: Isabella walking out of the grocery store) The smoke in the “Frog” cutscene looks absolutely laughable. There’s probably more but that’s just off the top of my head. As a giant Deadrising fan who thought the series was basically dead I was extremely excited about this remake until I actually saw (and heard) it. Now I DON’T want them to remake DeadRising 2 because I expect it to turn out like this.
Great list! I think I agree with every placement. The only point I disagree with you on is the new voice acting, but I guess it's subjective. To me, the originals sound more casual and therefore immersive, like I believe them as real people. While the remaster sound to me like professional voice actors preforming, and it takes me out of the world a little bit. It's the same reason I prefer the original Mafia 1 voices to the remake, or the original Silent Hill 2 voices over the HD Collection.
Yup completely understand where you’re coming from! Definitely gives off a different feel for Brad, which I personally liked but yeah each to their own 😁
Ngl you lost me on this tier list after dropping otr in C tier, it’s at least A on par with DR2, DR3 is at best b and yea DR4 deserves a lower tier than F, the deluxe remaster is fine but there’s so many downgrades from the original.
In my honest opinion, the VA work and direction (some not all) was terrible. The most egregious was Brad. I could handle some of the others, even TJ Rotolo not being there, Brad sounds god awful compared to his original actor. I understand replacing a lot of the cast. People don’t wanna come back, have moved on, retired and died. I just do not understand why TJ isn’t there, there’s no reason not to have him come back; he is fully willing to.
People complain about the voice acting changes to the first game in the remaster, forgetting that it is in fact a Capcom game and they’re aren’t really know for their great voice acting direction.

I can just picture the actor in the booth doing the performance, whereas in the original the characters looked and sounded like they should, even when the acting or dialogue was cheesy. Kent’s is particularly awful in the new game)
So much of the charm is lost, with the colorful mall being less colorful, and the “realistic” lighting seemingly looking washed out, and making many of the characters’ hair look grey when it shouldn’t.
The cultists don’t pray anymore
The game is now made piss easy
Bosses are neutered, not just gameplay wise, making them almost a complete non-threat, but also with the censorships to their look and dialogue.
VERY noticeable clipping of character models directly on screen in major cutscenes (example: Isabella walking out of the grocery store)
The smoke in the “Frog” cutscene looks absolutely laughable.
There’s probably more but that’s just off the top of my head.
As a giant Deadrising fan who thought the series was basically dead I was extremely excited about this remake until I actually saw (and heard) it. Now I DON’T want them to remake DeadRising 2 because I expect it to turn out like this.
@ZacTheFirst mirrors work BTW. Idk what settings call are on
How come frank looks different in every game he's in
It‘s a mystery for sure, or he just likes plastic surgery 🤷
Hank East is okay, I guess.
lol okay I’ll give you that
I’m mixed on the remaster
Overall at its core it’s a good remaster. But the fucking changes they made make me want to just play the original
That’s fair, the beauty of having the choice ay! :)
He's covered wars you know?
You’re not wrong y’know
Definitely gives off a different feel for Brad, which I personally liked but yeah each to their own 😁
I loved DRDR!!!!
Nice! Glad you enjoyed!
No TJ rotolo is the only negative for me and Pop-in issues.
Yeah that’s very fair! Would have been cool to hear him back in some way 👍
I actually can’t stand dead rising 2 for the fact of having to keep giving Katey zombrex, the rigorous time limits, and annoying psychopaths
That’s fair enough, hopefully you like one of the other entries!
Ngl you lost me on this tier list after dropping otr in C tier, it’s at least A on par with DR2, DR3 is at best b and yea DR4 deserves a lower tier than F, the deluxe remaster is fine but there’s so many downgrades from the original.
That’s fair enough! Each to their own, and thankfully we still have the original to revisit 🙏
That’s understandable! I think I’m in the minority with my take tbh, but yup I agree it would have been cool to hear TJ back is some form!
@@KlawPeels Luckily the PC modding community works fast and there’s already a mod for that lol.
Haha no ways that’s sick! 😂
People complain about the voice acting changes to the first game in the remaster, forgetting that it is in fact a Capcom game and they’re aren’t really know for their great voice acting direction.
Fair point, I’m not overly familiar with a lot of their games though tbh!
@@KlawPeels The early Resident Evil’s and the first Devil May Cry have some of best examples imo.

They changed the Asian butcher boss…
Yeah I read up on this and it’s fair enough! The character himself is unchanged though I think
Cry about it
He's still Asian they just made him less of a Stereotype
@@XxHessxX7braindead consumer.
@@BlasmoBabbings Larry was never a stereotype. People are only saying that now because of the change. Nobody ever complained about him beforehand.
DRDR should only cost $20 max at release
I personally think it warrants the price but yeah perhaps a little lower would be fair!
The remaster is a joke… VOs have less weight, censorship… supporting this game just gives Capcom free range to keep censoring
Cry about it
@@Snake_eyes0 nah no need I just refunded… LOL
@@TheGreatPooyah Good for you buddy 👏 👏👏👏 we're so proud of you maybe next time you should wait and see if you like it instead of spending money, also two things were changed and you lose your mind over it😂 mad you can't be a pervert in dead rising 1 anymore?
@@Snake_eyes0 Even CAPCOM disagrees with you. The remaster is a downgrade for WAYY more reasons than censorship. Good for you buddy 👏👏👏👏 we’re so proud of you for defending a billion dollar company from criticism even though they *ASKED* to be criticized!
(Capcom just recently created a survey asking why you did or didn’t get DRDR. One of the choices you can automatically choose is “the game did not adequately recreate the original” and “I lost interest AFTER I saw the trailer”. )
Stop whining about people giving basic criticism when even the developers are inviting it.
The A.I. improvements are nice, that’s about it.
No blood splatter on Frank when eliminating crowds of zombies
No echo in the mall when people are talking, so all of the fake voice acting sounds even more fake
There are NOTICEABLY less zombies in a game that was praised for big amounts of enemies onscreen.
The exact same 18 year old animations are used for all of the cutscenes despite the new character models, so the cutscenes look weird and cheap.
Characters regularly have stiff facial expressions that feel more awkward than the original.
The new voices feel detached from the characters despite having new character models.

@@Snake_eyes0 lmfao… the remake ruins the art style, voice actors such as Brad were done DIRTY… it’s okay that they made the game easy and sanitized for you 😂 congrats on your slop
The deluxe remaster is a downgrade to the original in every way
Disagree but each to their own!
I disagree with you about dead rising De-master there is no point to play that game. They did improve things but only tiny things to the game. The bad things they did is they changes things not need to be changes (like there no erotica anymore, voice acting is a downgrade, they race swaps Larry Chiang that a Racist thing they did, True eye cult don’t prey anymore and ect ect) and everything else need to be improve nothing happens. This De-master did not respect the original
These things didn’t detract from the overall package for me but sorry to hear you didn’t enjoy it as much!
I fucking hate these green screens and people holding their mics. Stopped watching after 20 sec
Still felt the need to comment though 😂 RIP
Is man's okay at 16:00
Hahaa I’m glad someone noticed this lol
