I'm glad you mentioned deadzones, as its crucial for throttle and brake management and is often overlooked. However, optimal deadzone settings will be different everyone. Therefore it's important to set them up yourself, instead of taking fixed values like 5-95. Here's a quick and easy way to do it:
    1) Set inside and outside dead zones to 0 and 100 respectively. Do this for acceleration (throttle trigger) and deceleration (brake trigger).
    2) Go into the game and pull up telemetry, switch to the page where it shows you the % of throttle and brake applied.
    3) Do not touch any of the controls and look at the readouts for brake and throttle:
    - If they're both at 0 and not moving, you're golden. Leave the inside deadzone at 0.
    - If they're not completely at 0 or even going up and down a little bit, go up one notch with inside deadzone. Then go back into telemetry. Repeat until both readouts are 0.
    4) Now, fully press the brake trigger and hold it:
    - If it goes up to 100% and stays there while you're holding it, you're set.
    - If it doesn't reach 100% or goes up and down, go *down* one notch with decel *outside* deadzone. Then go back into telemetry. Repeat until brake readout is 100 flat.
    5) Next, drive your car up against a wall. Fully press and hold the throttle:
    - If it goes up to 100% and stays there while you're holding it, you're set.
    - If it doesn't reach 100% or goes up and down, go *down* one notch with accel *outside* deadzone. Then go back into telemetry. Repeat until throttle readout is 100 flat.
    6) Done.

For gear tuning, I find on high HP builds, a long first gear like 1960's race cars that reaches all the way to 60mph/100km/h makes for more consistent, fast launches with controlled wheel spin, and allows all other gears to group closer together in the high end of the power band. Depending on power, 100mph/160km/h might come late in 2nd for high power, or somewhere in 3rd gear for medium power.

Regarding springs and ride height: IIRC spring numbers are "spring rate" (pounds per inch) so to keep the same spring force when lowering ride height one would want to increase spring rate, not decrease.

I love the changes that were done to RWD vehicles. It's noticeably better than FH4. I just wish tires were better, because loss of grip in certain situations is weird...
I don't think they have tire compounds and grip quite as dialed in as it could be. Some cars are extremely grippy, and some, that have set records on real world racetracks don't seem to hook up very well at all. It's quite sad.

Thank you for this video! I prefer RWD up to S1 because i prefer the handling and being light with more power.
It seems like i tuned my cars quite ok, almost exactly like you explained but i think i mess up with tyre compound sometimes. Didn't think that rallye tyres are really that good until i made a really good tune for the hoonigan escort and it was dominating the rivals event (all by accident)

    • @SDTuts
      @SDTuts 2 года назад +1

I found success with rally tires on A class build. They don't cost that much in terms of PI and they grip more than enough for the power you get in that class. B class don't need them and higher than A they're kind of useless, at least on those cars I tuned until now. Of course there's always exceptions, but these are my go-to tyre compounds when thinking of balance.

I only AWD on dirt. Everything else is RWD. It's literally the highest skill ceiling in FH5 as you can easily be faster than AWD.

it makes sense when semislick causes too much PI since it handles in wettrack better than slick, it doesnt slip when semi offtrack like slick, and it brakes better than slick. slick has better accel and better dry/hot track handling.

Nice tips.....Nice to hear someone explaining the finer more crucial points of traction and weight distribution etc. !!
One of my favourite cars to drive in FH5 is the Lamborghini Centenario and I always play using the CockPit view (the view after the one that shows the drivers hands and wheel but still shows the dashboard) as I play with a Wheel and Pedal set-up in a Racing Rig.....There's quite a few reasons why this is one of my favourite, one of them being that it has a Digital G-Force Meter/Reader on the Cars Dashboard, which actually works, showing you the direction and level of G's in real-time !!
I thought this was a nice feature and great attention to detail made by Playground Games !!
Admittedly, it's a bit on the small side but none-the-less it still works and it could be a great learning tool for those players that understand too much about G-Force !!

Hi Hoki, great tips as always!
    I'll list some problems I've encountered since I started my own builds in the hope of someone, if not you, could help me out;
    1. High turning radius on hairpins and/or low-speed sharp corners.
    2. Suspension adjustments.
I love racing in the narrow city streets but my suspension/damping setup always throw me off the ground when hitting ground objects like the small roundabouts. On the other side, if I soften things up the car becomes skittish at corners when the suspension compresses.
    3. First and second gear.
I still don't know how to tune these two gears without making them lose too much time. I either make them too long or too short somehow.
Thank you in advance to everyone who reaches out to me!

    • @aurastrike

Can we have a clip for race/street tuning for some car categories like: supercars, muscle cars and so on. Maybe not all of them together but this help us the plebs who struggle with tuning an nice car to race with.

This is a Longshot. But I've watched all your tuning guide videos, they all are the best for me. I was wondering if you knew anything about game Torque Drift, & could give a good tuning guide for that one. I can't find anything good on it lol.

I’m really trying to stick with manual shifting… it currently takes all my brain power to do it and everything suffers for it. My line, braking, turn in, literally everything went from damn good to average at best and I’m struggling to stay with it. It’s made a game I kill it in to a game that I suck at and don’t really enjoy atm. But I know the potential gains is worth it so I’m pushing thru for the moment. I need a pep talk. Anybody…

Launches seems to be very important against drivatars, with car 1-3 pulling away from the pack and car 4-7 only acting as blockers and not actually interested in racing at all. I have been using AWD to get an advantage over the terrible drivatar AI compared to FH4, but struggle with bad times in rivals, but i will give RWD another shot. Thanks for the guide, top notch as always.

can you explain the camber thing? some cars come with front camber more positive than the rear, others the opposite, whats the difference?

I'm trying to get the Lola #6 Sunoko to go around a track properly for The Trial, but it seems like an impossible task. With RWD it's never able to put the power down fast enough to get a good lap time, and with AWD it understeers so much i need to brake a lot more in corners, so the drivatars rear end me and forces me into the wall.

Older cars arent really capable of coping with a lot of power, you generally just have to accept that they arent going to drive as nicely as a modern car. I used the porsche 917 for the trial, rwd, for a few attempts (had a bad team and ai kept knocking me off checkpoints). It wasnt nice to drive, it was basically a power build so with a lot of effort it was actually very quick. Throttle conrtol isnt a simple thing, with a lot of practice youll find that you can actually go a lot faster than you originally thought you could. Also as a side note, with cars like the lola and porsche driving smooth is crucial and weight transfer tends to have more of an impact

@@Noreceipts400 Yeah i gave up and bought a Ferrari P4 instead, was able to tune that decently enough to get 1st place in the trial, but getting any sort of decent rivals time with it is impossible, understeer/not enough turning radius to get around corners fast enough. Which seems to be the issue with most cars i try to get a decent rivals time on, except the koenigsegg ccgt.

The dead zone for controller is such a problem. Its like playing on keyboard 0-100 no in-between. I'll hit my brakes and suddenly wheels lock up. Meanwhile I'm barely pressing the trigger.

I think the cars in forza series are lighter and grip is less than other racing games, such as ACC, AC or Rfactor. I don't say this in a negative way, they just set up this way so people can enjoy drifting more. But when you want to be serious about road racing, you can't expect the RWD car to work like other racing sim.

I really hated the driving physics of Horizon. It just doesn't compare to Motorsports. But then I switched it to simulation steering and man what a difference. Still not as good as Motorsports BUT a huge improvement I felt has to driver feedback in the car. Simulation steering on Motorsports tho, seems uncontrollable (I play on a controller) and is definitely geared towards steering wheel players. Gonna check this out, as I like keeping my cars RWD for the realism. I keep trying to give Horizon a chance. But keep ending back on the Nurburgring in Motorsports 😆
