Bro, i have to say this, you are really the best in tutorials, you show products , examples, you know what you are saying, experienced, thanks a lot and keep going.
@@fiermanmuch That's like saying "I'm 6' and work in an office, can you recommend me a car?" There are so many more things that need to be known before a recommendation can be made.
Just discovered your videos yesterday and has been watching every one of them. I have never learnt so much and in so detailed about videography and lightings before. YOU. ARE. AWESOME. Please keep the videos coming :)
The Thumbs up to thumbs down ratio should tell you how good your videos are. In every video you are constantly putting out helpful, useful, and logical information. You get straight to the point, and really do a great job explaining everything! Great video!
I need some LED lights for video, and will be purchasing them through your links. Why? This is the most comprehensively created and helpful tutorials available on the Internet. Thank you for putting in all this time and delivering high quality results to educate!
Outstanding. I will watch the next two (0-50 and 50-100). I have just started to make videos for RUclips and just ruined my last one because of lighting (I'm in my shop and the camera saw the overhead lights and I ended up way dark (tried to correct with Adobe Premier Elements 2018 but to get me light everything else was washed out). It always amazes me that someone will give a thumbs down on a quality video such as this. Glenn Lever
Fans, which LED lights make noise and which ones are quiet, silent. I don't want fans because I don't want noise, especially during filming. And thanks for making your videos! -really helpful. Another subject; light flickering. For when shooting slow motion video. Not all LED lights are free of flickering.
Your videos are always spot-on. I love the fact that you are able to get to the point, while still being interesting/entertaining. I'm glad I stumbled upon your channel. Keep the vids coming!
Always great stuff Caleb. I actually purchased the Viltrox light from your last lighting video with your recommendation. I like it a lot. I wish I had these videos before I started my channel!
Great tips! Currently my bench light setup is two old cowboy studio cfl bulbs, one with a flash diffuser on it. Works OK, but it's always nice to see what you're messing around with.
Could you maybe do a video on simple light set ups for cheap LED lights and settings to pay attention on your camera for filming? I bought two Amaran 198 daylight lights but I have no idea what I'm doing.
Hi Caleb, yet another great video on lighting. Few comments and criteria 1/ thermal design = good heat dissipation is important for both reliability and noise (no fans) 2/ dimmer design: I noticed some cheap lights have poor PWM dimmers which may be noticeable on video (interference of dimmer frequency with Fps) - though it seems less frequent these days One side note : when using color gel on a daylight-only light you are actually loosing some output, as you are filtering out some wavelengths. But still a good back-up option when you need this tungsten (or blueish) tint.
Hi your video's are really great. Could you please help me... I don't want to use a ring light for my video's could you possibly suggest a light or lights, I can only record at night thanks
I have a couple of Aputure Amaran panels. Lovely stuff. Just, now I have been looking to up the lighting game a little. Of course Aputure's LightStorm series is awesome, I'd love to have the C120d, but... although it's definitely worth the money, the price is still quite up there. I had found the Yongnuo YN-760 a couple of months back, but one guy that did an unboxing said he returned them the next day because they were such poor quality. Another guy, Lucas Pfaff, recently did a bit on the Godox SL60W. Now those look right up my alley. So I'm getting two of those now. Looking forward to see what they're about for myself. Setting up a little studio space for stills & video, just need to get some Bowen-S accessories, like a parabolic light reflector.
I have a nice Dracast LED and love leds but recently I had a chance to use an Arri tungsten fresnel kit and they're amazing. If you're just doing general video work then LEDs all the way but for film work I feel tungsten fresnels are the best looking option.
I really love your videos and have actually purchased one light already through you because of your videos. I'm planning on a second. What I'm running into is just lack of understanding of mounting the lights and placement in a space with a focal point. What does the real world setup look like? The milk-diffused lights currently appeal to me the most because of your saying you can just put them on a stand and be good. Maybe you could do a video going into more light placement and strategies along with examples of what that looks like through a camera, though? Thanks for your excellent content!
Another awesome video full of useful tips. I am a digital photography newbie and I just subscribed. I plan to watch all of your vids. You are an excellent teacher! Michael
Great video, Caleb - I'm a stutterer who's just starting my channel and am looking to buy my first set of LEDs, and this is really helpful! One suggestion for future videos: Having the 10 things to consider is fantastic, and if you can write them out in a list, maybe on the left side of the screen, and show that list each time you switch to a new point, it'll help viewers to remember what each of the 10 points are. Just an idea... Keep making fantastic content! 😀
Hey Caleb, I've been a huge fan for years! Thanks for all the great content. I wanted to request a video on how to correct LED color tints with gels. The Alzo 300 shift is killing me! Would love to see how your correct these issues. Cheers.
I was slightly interested then you got my focus when you talked about "Multi chip or single chips"....damn that would have been a problem. I planning to get some lights for filming and need to cut the light. Thanks for that!!!! I know now that I'll get single chip lights! Well done!
thanks for the great info! it's really hard to decide what to budget and what to buy! curious about fan noise in some of the lights. is the ambient noise in your audio around 4:40s from a light? thanks
As usual ... Love the video. Keep up the good work. *Not losing output by using single color temp lights with gels* The gels do cut a little light out but yeah not 505 loss in power output. :) I use a Yungnuo YN300 MARK 1 (instead of the Mark 3 or Air) because it is single color and comes with nice sturdy plastic gels. Planning on buying 3 more of them. Very good light for the price. *Power Options* I wish my YN300 had a DC jack option. I might buy a Sony "dummy battery" but a proper power connector on the light would have been nice. *turning multi point light (repeated shadows) into one light source* You lose a bit of power with this but you put a peice of parchement paper (or other diffusion) in front of the light and voila!. It's better if the diffusion material is a bit further away from the light surface of course. My YN300 has barndoors so I tape the diffusion to the barndoors. that turns the diffusion into one light source that casts one shadow.
Really nice video sir. Look forward to your next video. I am been considering to use Smart Light bulbs for small photo/video production work since they have decent level of CRI & Lumens and Colour Temps. Maybe you could do a Video on that - It'll be different content. Thank you.
Great video! I'm curious to learn more about using soft boxes with LED lights. What kind of soft box setup would you recommend with which type of lights? Figure this is more relevant now that we're going upwards from the lower end budget lights.
I have 2 LS1s 5600k, and was thinking my next lights should be COB spots. I love all of the accessories available via bowens mount, and the even light fall off (they don't have hot spots like LS1s). But I'm not sure if I should get daylight or tungsten. Tungsten I feel looks a little better than daylight on talent, and I can match tungsten to existing practicals which I can use to raise the light level, and possibly use as accent lights on talent. I already have junior 5600k kit, and can always use gel to tungsten if I am matching practicals.. Thoughts?
Bear in mind the colour temp of both COBt and COBd, 3000K and 6000K respectively. Also, gelling LEDs doesn't lead to the best reproduction of colour quality as I'm sure you know. In my experience the LS1s are closer to 5200k in reality, what have you found? I often work in environments where it's easier to knock out the practicals / room lights than it is to stop light coming in from windows. So I work with existing daylight. Would be interested to know your thoughts when you choose either COB. Get a few of both if you can afford them!
Hi Andrew. Thanks for your message. 1) I agree, the LS1s aren't exactly 5600k. I have only had them a short time, and the few jobs I've used them on I noticed that the colors didn't look right at 5600k, but I was able to get good results manually balancing to a grey card and rolling. I didn't have any meters to get a specific reading, but as you say they weren't 5600k. They were much cooler. 2) I heard from one user (Curtis Judd) that the COBs and the LS1s mix quite nicely. Which seems odd because as you noted there is approximately 800k shift in temperature. 3) Im going to test the COB120t today. I'll write you back with results. And it would be nice to have 3 of both temp.... ps - the Aputure's Fresnel lens does not look like the best quality or design. I hope I can test today.
Caleb in the next video can you point out which one is the best light for traveling and studio use with DC output and battery powered, dimmable, with a lot of output, no fan and affordable. I want to buy a few led lights for chroma work in the studio and traveling, but they are way too expensive. Thanks in advance.
How long do the batteries work in YN600 ang YN 216? What better to buy 1x YN600 OR 2x YN216? I want to illuminate 2 figures in a cloudy forest . I like this Video :)
Tip you missed: The mount of the LED. Some cheaper ones have a plastic built-in mount - crack it and you're in trouble. Luckily most of the LEDs have 1/4 20 on the body of the LED or a spigot hole for light stands.
wow, this is the only video and person that is able to explain video led lights in a professional way. thank you very much!
Bro, i have to say this, you are really the best in tutorials, you show products , examples, you know what you are saying, experienced, thanks a lot and keep going.
Damn the one at 9:03 - gave you a PERFECT white backdrop lol
Haha! Yeah, crazy bright. My next video uses the same technique for a white background.
Dude can u give me a suggestion. I need LED to shoot at f11 iso 100 and 1/125.

Can't wait for Part 2 of the Budget LED lights! I love these videos.
Coming next Tuesday!
This video was super helpful for my selection of LED lighting for the not too distant future. Thanks for the info
around 9:00 i loved how bright it got in the back, separating you from the back in such a fine way i think, i sort of loved

Thank you James! Took a lot of bad videos to get to this point!
Haha - well the work paid off!
Hi,
I probably missed this but…
The rectangular light to your right, which one is that?
Thanks 😊
great video still not sure which way to go for review videos. what do you think?

So great video. I really love your videos and information. The best on this kind of reviews. Thanks a lot!
Your videos on buying lights are especially good! Sure saves us money and speeds up the learning curve. Thank you!
Excellent information, clearly and succinctly presented by someone over 12 years old. Awesome!

My only doubt is what is the ideal level of LM/output ? Thanks, geat video
yes part 2! ive been waiting because i want to buy the right leds with my no budget

Great video!!!! Thank you so much for all the information!!! Ready to pick the best choice!
Nicely done! Thanks for the information.
Spot light over flood lights huh? Really good advice.
Yep! You can always soften/widen the output but it is difficult the spot soft lights.
I know I say this with every upload, but you bring so much value in your vids. Thank you for making my channel better.
Thanks Clutch, means a lot! Glad you're digging the vids!
Can't wait for the $50-100 range led lights video

Thanks a lot for that video! Currently working on improving my light situation, now I have a better idea what to look for.
nice work and advices, thank you
Could be it right also for photografie ? Does it convine them?
This was really helpful! I actually jotted down the information on a notebook. Thanks as always!
Great video. Very informative. And timely. Due to buy some of these next week. :)

Nice video.
Can you compare the Pixapro 100d and the Aputure 120d ? They look quite similar...
Thank you for the helpful info!
Thank you so much for lighting up my knowledge.
Can u do a video showing the difference about cheapest led lights and the more expensive?
thanks for the great info! it's really hard to decide what to budget and what to buy! curious about fan noise in some of the lights. is the ambient noise in your audio around 4:40s from a light? thanks
Make a video on the different gels
I have one on the way!
thanks man really appreciated
check out the light panel review on my channel it has RGB Built in + Bluetooth no need for gels
He might take what you say into consideration if you're not extremely rude about it. Like, for fuck's sake, were you not taught proper manners?
Can you run the Aputure M9 of the AC recharger cord?
Finally. A useful review.
So useful, thanks!!
glad i saw this before i invested in a bunch of bi-color lights. Thanks for this vid
Great video.
Which one for cooking Videos?
Great tips bro. Thanks. 👌

Budget friendly lights.. Of course.

Have you ever experimented shooting with RGB Lifx bulbs? I have been experimenting with them.

Caleb, so what should be the luminance level?
Are there any cheap, good, high CRI LED lights that come with a Bowen's mount?
thanks for this information man... what do you think about the rotolight neos?
thx ! great info .. can you pls recommend some config for streaming webinars ? thx in advance
