Doing the vimeo online course, this is so difficult! Much harder than it looks, you're an amazing swimmer Adam.

It’s really lovely watching you swim so beautifully but in terms of instruction [for a poor is swimmer like me anyways] and understanding there is only a 4-5 second clip of the mechanics from an underwater perspective to glean off/learn from which for me was away too short- is there more instructional material to work off? So bottom line - lots to enjoy but almost nothing to learn from.

Do you do have a high elbow catch. It looks like your arms is below water most of the time. In wavy conditions this will not work. You need to raise your arm high above the waves to go anywhere. I tried that in open water with 3 foot waves and is not effective.

another video shows, apparently, single kick with leg on same side as you pull.

You got a dropped elbow on both sides! Is that intentionally, does in the ocean walker technique a high elbow catch isnt the best way to pull?

My elbow is always higher than my forearm on entry and the pull otherwise my shoulder wouldn’t cope and I would be pushing water down.

Would like to see different camera angles while the camera is underwater. There was only about 5 seconds where we're able to see the entire stroke; from hip rotation to the demonstration of the two beat kick. It's difficult to see everything that's going in these open water video's. Just saying.

Gliding strokes works good in calmer currents in the absence of choppy conditions and riptide ,Otherwise you will face a wall of water and u won't be able to move nowhere especially with this occasional lousy kicks.
Overall I prefer catching over gliding with dolphin kick in open ocean swimming .

Ive swam the toughest ocean swims in the WORLD with this stroke. I had huge waves across tsugaru channel and 60 kilometres from Molokai to Oahu and 17 hours non stop swimming. I also broke British record from Spain to Morocco and first Brit to swim both ways.

I just can't see such a slow stroke rate being effective in the open water. Especially in chop.

I swam 7 TOUGHEST ocean swims in the WORLD with this technique including 17 hours non stop in Hawaii and 15.5 hours in Japan with 10 foot swells. I was the fastest man from Spain to Morocco. I also swam back again.
