Freestyle Timing - A simpler way to think about freestyle timing

  • The timing of the freestyle stroke is important. It will largely depend on what speed and distance the swimmer or triathlete is racing.
In the end, there is no one technically perfect stroke to suit all swimmers and triathletes.
It's a matter of finding what works best for you as an individual and consistently practicing it in training at or near competition speeds.

really like your viewpoint on this, but its a shame the swimmer in the green cap wasn't demonstrating catch up as her propulsion arm moved before catch up and head returning to water, plus she crossed and entered thumb first, the two latter much easier to put right before the tricky timing thing, but keep it up

Illustrating a movement idea while standing up and wearing a jacket? The viewer will have to interpret what those movements translate to in the water, which can be done in a number of ways.
