Played this for my last middle school Christmas concert, and boy does it ache. High school band is nothing like middle school band, and listening to the music we used to play is amazing. Middle schools are smaller, so that means more Student-Teacher bonding and leaning in layered and complex ways. You just don't get that in highschool, and it makes me sad. This was such a beautiful piece to get to indulge before leaving adolescence for early adulthood, and it will stay sacred to me.
Our school orchestra played this for the summer concert cause the christmas show got cancelled three times due to covid and huge snow. Played the timpani part, was super fun!!
playing this for school and 3:57 is my favorite part because the violins stop playing 😁😁😁 edit: my teacher decided to add the violins and violas back for this part and i’m so mad bc it doesn’t sound as pretty anymore 😭😭
my teacher has got the swing part in "hot chocolate" on the drumset, I somewhat have it down, but I'm having trouble coming up with an interesting drumset part.
You can't just replace replace almost all parts that were originally from the concert band version with strings which typically makes it so that only strings are required. This is why I like the concert band version better.
BASSES ARE FINALLY RELEVANT
Tbh.

These arrangements are meant to be playable with only strings, with the winds and percussion extras.
Is it a piccolo's part ?
no SAXOPHONES?!!! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING
This is a string orchestra..
It's a full orchestra, which usually doesn't have saxophones. But I bet altos could transpose and play the horn part
Obinna Nwakwue orchestras should have saxophones though
@@marketmadden8351 No, they shouldn't
RDVMusic why not? The alto saxophone blends perfectly just like the French horn
i play violin 1. pray for me
same... it's all fun until measure 120 lol
It’s not that bad if you start measure 120 in third position. (I’m also violin 1)
