I used to think I'm addicted to my phone, but i think I'm just addicted to internet, it is so boring to use my phone without internet connection,it feels like you can't do anything, and getting rid of apps is not really the answer for me, since i only use mostly 3 or 4 apps, like youtube Spotify and whatsapp,, and also i think the best way to get rid of any addiction is to simply just have other things to do, like a job or smth
Moderation is key. Keeping nothing is useless, you would never spend hours on apps such as banking, food delivery or utility ones. I ditched most of my apps months ago, but still keeping the useful and, wether we like or not, mandatory apps. Moderation, balance and context are the most important things
I've tried something similar a couple of years ago but I very quickly realized that there are some apps that are mandatory for me to have on my phone at all times. In some cases just so that I can continue having a job, which is depressing and scary AF. It does help however to set your screen's color scheme in grayscale mode. I found myself using my phone less since I made the switch.
I can't even count the times I have been frustrated because I HAVE to have the phone with me, there is a doctors call coming between 8-16, check your e-mail to confirm login, new account etc., google maps, payments, FB Marketplace, calender, notes and reminders, alarm .. its an endless cycle! Also, the smartphones are getting so big they fit nowhere anymore, just some bulky yet fragile piece of electronical device. I was a little sceptical before clicking your video as I thought its another "I deleted everything and lived happily with no need for anything" video but you actually made it interesting, brought out a very important point (the phone is important to function in todays society but not essential to fill in the gaps/boredom of our free time) and gave new ideas on how to manage my own habits! Thanks. 😊
Unfortunately, like most things in life, it's never that simple, but just going through this exercise really helped me. Even if there isn't a "perfect solution," making any progress, whether it's 5% or 50% can really make a difference!
What I do with my samsung Phone is I put him on em energy saving mode, and I limited the apps on the home screen. This way, I'm only allowed to have 4 apps
This video really hit home with me, as I deleted most of the apps on my phone about a month ago for the same reason. I completely agree that the more time you spend on your phone, the worse your life will be. Btw, excellent work here. I've watched a few of your videos in a row, and I'm so impressed by the way you combine tasteful editing with your earnest candor. Looking forward to hearing more from you.
I did it too and I'm happy for you. I've decide to uninstall my social media and honesty that makes my phone bored... I didn't delete everything cuz that's useless. I have two phones, the personal one and the "productive " in the productive one I got my apps to learn Japanese, RUclips and RUclips music between others that really help me, that cuz I'm a person who can't do something if is not listening to music or videos and also cuz without the phone we gotta admit that we can't do almost nothing like for example tune the guitar. So I'm using this phone meanwhile I'm at home and the other just when I go out or want to respond WhatsApp and things like that... What you gotta do is think : "I don't want to cuz there's nothing really important there " not "i can't use the apps cuz they are not in my phone anymore " cuz onces download them again you'll comeback to the addiction.
I'd recommend just using your smartphone for WORK ONLY, and buy a dumb phone for detox In some European countries it's called a "weekend phone". So you can live life instead of glue yourself to a screen
It's so interesting how quickly technology can go from invaluable to detrimental. It's crazy to think of how much smartphones have changed people's minds and habits just in the past 5 years. I agree that having music, podcasts, or (my favorite) RUclips videos can really bring motivation to otherwise grueling tasks. It's that careful balance of having your phone add to your life, not take it away. Great video as always! I appreciate how thorough and honest your videos are. 👍
Great video and challenging experiment. Thanks for doing both 😊 As for me there are scheduled „no screen time“ blocks throughout my week and I experience the same like you. Getting more done, feeling connected to myself and my surroundings. Btw: Your Kirby cup made me smile. I love it ❤
Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down... Btw I've been thinking about paring down my apps for the same reason you deleted all of them. I've got 88 apps on my phone and I want to get down to 44 at the most.
I think, that keeping some apps, that are essential is the key, like I couldn't go without the app I have my ID, my bus ticket, Spotify... Some apps you use, because they're convinient, not because you use them to fill time! anyway, great video
clicked to the end, yet again expected some sort of happy ending, try using the nothing phone 2, it almost eliminates the majority of distraction that other phone companies intentionally put in their phones
I've done it, it's not very fun 😅. I'm not going to say taking a shit requires "focus and determination," but I've definitely turned a 5 minute bathroom break into 10 or 15 minutes of just checking things on my phone. Just being aware of this and not bringing your phone with you when you're trying to get back to something quickly is worth trying once in a while 🤷♂️
bro thinks 4 hours is bad, i am at 12 hours average bro you have a small chance at being addicted to your phone (i am trying to get my average down ( this week was about 8 hours but the week before was 12 hours lol
I don't think 5 hours on day average is bad, and honestly most of time you use your phone, you are doing nothing and have nothing to do, if not a thing that you can learn something deoending on what you do or just entertain yourself, and mostly if you waste 2 hours doing that you are using for 3 hours onny, and it is clear you listen to music, if you listen to music for 1 hour, you probably use your phone for 2 hours which is conpletely normal and mostly below average
Good Video. Without the phone or PC, we really can notice how much time we have and that those tasks we need to do actually takes less than 1/4 time than we think it does. Like cleaning our rooms or laundry
The problem with the gym app is not what Planet Fitness might do to you because you don't have the app, the problem is that you're going to Planet Fitness in the first place.
i just watched a person delete apps on their phone for 1:45 minutes, the phone is not the problem, im sorry but this kind of content is a complete waste of time, but im also at fault here, i clicked on this video expecting more, something educational or more or less interesting

When you at the bathroom, reading the shampoo and conditioner bottle is a good thing to distract yourself.
You're not the first person to tell me that 😅

you should buy an mp3 old player, then you could listen to songs you downloaded, during the gym time
We used to do this in 00's and that was AWESOME
7:04 just because your on your phone a lot doesn't mean it's bad, I'm on my phone a lot because i can't do anything else anymore 💀
There are definitely exceptions!
sometimes doing nothing is better than doing something

Me with my 11.5 hrs of daily screen time..... but I do have Netflix and stuff on it instead of having a TV so maybe it balances?
I'd recommend just using your smartphone for WORK ONLY, and buy a dumb phone for detox

I've never heard of a "weekend phone," that's super interesting!
I had same issue then I switched to iPhone and since then Im less on the phone

Thank you, I totally agree!
I see the cat , he's so cute 😻
I love your Kirby cup it’s adorable and cute I love Kirby
you consider yourself addicted with average 4 hours, so who am I with average 7hrs30min
I'll let you decide that one for yourself 😅
WTF? Mine's 12 hrs (Not joking, I can provide screenshots for proof)
me too my average time is between 10 hours and 14 hours .. I've got all the screenshots I can provide
Great video and challenging experiment. Thanks for doing both 😊 As for me there are scheduled „no screen time“ blocks throughout my week and I experience the same like you. Getting more done, feeling connected to myself and my surroundings. Btw: Your Kirby cup made me smile. I love it ❤
Great idea! And yes, Kirby makes a great mug haha 😅
How did you delete the google apps on a samsung?
Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down...

The google assistant can open hidden apps if you visually remove the apps from all screens
Only 4 hrs screen time 😅 those are rookie numbers I have 9hrs right now as I’m typing this
Y'know people keep telling me that...but given how many hours are in a day I still don't understand how people get 8+ hours 😅
@@JoshWiniarski2 I’m just constantly on the phone periodically throughout the day
🎉 congrats in doing the impossible; i accidentally did the same recently not cuz i wanted too just needed space for an update
0:26 that’s very dangerous don’t use the phone in the darkness
0:16 that's nothing compared to mine💀
12h 😂
4:25 wow😭❤️
What a beautiful cellphone 📱😍
0:15 thats not even that much, mine is 10-12 hours a day
1:58 still have the internet app
This was great. Kudos and respect! +1subscriber :)
Thanks so much!
But why delete timer and music? Those are not addicting apps…
A part of me just didn't want to be on my phone at all. For better or for worse, I just wanted to get it out of my mind as much as possible.
I deleted 39 non necessary apps
Nice!
HOOOOOW DID U DELETE FACEBOOK???????
I couldn't delete I could only disable it
Just delete social media apps, that's the culprit
use a feature phone instead.
On the toilet you obviously read various declarations and ingredients off of shampoo bottles!
Best recommendation yet.
@@JoshWiniarski2 To this day, the only Hungarian I know is what it said on the various bottles
Galaxy S23?
Galaxy S21 actually 🙂
That’s an old Samsung, isn’t it ?
It's from 2021 🤷♂️
@@JoshWiniarski2guessing it’s an s21…
What's so wrong using your phone in the bathroom? When I shit I don't have anything else to do anyway so what do you expect me to do? Watch the wall?

You're not addicted to your phone Josh, you are just alcoholic (you just don't know it yet)
You deleted apps cuz' addiction, i did cuz no more space. We are not the same (Help i need more storage)
