I have been preaching since Oakwynd release that Daybreak NEEDED to lead this server debut with "NO TRADE becoming heirloom"... It is the single-handed reason that this is my favorite server of all time so far.
Having the ability to create side-projects like twinking out a level 1 Shadowknight with planar gear/weapons is so addicting. Not to mention I get bonus exp for raising these side projects to cap! FTE is great, but we all knew it wasn't going to be immaculate. To be completely honest, i'm sure FTE worked better than nearly all of us thought it would lol
This server had some really cool mechanics. I like free trade personally as the alt thinking gets kinda annoying after a bit.
Man those yelinak raids were so fun, you were a great leader. I think we all miss it

This TLP is the first I’ve skipped in awhile, Mischief set the bar high and I wasn’t feeling it for this TLP - hopefully, the next will pull me in.
I finally jumped in to P99 and am having fun casually playing there. 😺👍

I love the suggestion for private picks. I get that there would be more loot generated, but I don't see that as a problem. Only individuals that stand to gain (krono farmers) see this as a problem in my opinion.
I do think Classic era suffers in variety since there are only so many places to level up.
I am having a blast running a guild on Oakwynd, but I could see a switch if the 25th aniversary stuff is anything cool. Hopefully you are able to find the fun you are seeking. :)

I haven't encountered someone stealing a lock from me at all on this server which I think is a testament to how well FTE works at discouraging KSing. It seems like they need to figure out that extremely narrow case where a druid can heal you and then DPS race you but that's extremely marginal in my experience. Great to know though!
I wonder if they ever fixed it.

Can you block heals therefore it would prevent this?
If you block it it might prevent didn’t try it. Also the plvl groups yell the mobs so you can steal their kills with wiz and mage aoe lol
FTE is good, but needs tweaks. Heirloom is BiS. Seriously, people dont know its full potential yet, but its AMAZING.

Same for me, when I heal as my OOG druid, my druid also has access to the mob. I'm not sure my druid "steals" the lock, but maybe share the lock, not sure. I'll have to check. On the "Powerleveling"....geezzzz, never seen it so much, ever. It seems that FTE was suppose to also prevent power leveling, and honestly, it has failed on that accord.
On Oakwynd.... it's fun, BUT, in a year DBG will push a big "25 year anniversary" TLP extravaganza. It's hard to feel like it's going to be home, for any period of time for characters.
On the nonsense of stealing mobs. I guess it's because of FTE, and no one has a "camp". I've had people come into my camp, and take mobs I hadn't engage yet. They have no respect for others personal camp space, it seems.

I think its time they start merging servers together. Some of the older TLPs are ghost towns. TLPs like mischief are doing great.
If they took the mischief rule set and added in oakwynd encounter locking this would really ruin the casual krono farmers. There would be a larger percentage of botters trying to camp the good stuff but bots can still be tricked and defeated
Yeah honestly at this point they should probably work toward a mega server type thing then just join TLP to it over time
Oakwynd is the least toxic tlp yet. The lack of trains and the massively less KSing has made this a really chill server. The only problems with oakwynd imo are the ever so slight bugs with encounter locking and the fact that having a max character is only 10%. The legacy exp bonus needs to be bumped by 50% to 15%.

I'm skipping Oakwynd this time, but having fun leveling up a duo on Agnarr. The FTE mechanic seems interesting, but after Mischief I'll need free trade or another TLP capped at Velious/PoP to interest me.
Fair enough. Personally I think heirloom is better than free trade, but to each their own. FTE is pretty great too, but heirloom is the real new feature, people don't even know the full potential yet.
@@chuckchuckerson5364 I just can't get excited about the heirloom feature; I don't have a lot of time to grind, camp, and raid, so I want the ability to purchase what I need from other players in the bazaar.
@@kirksneckchop7873 Understandable, but it is an amazing way to make money. For example, I make 1,000 plat per hour doing stein of moggok quests. This is simply not possible without heirloom items. There are many other quests that can fetch you money in similar ways, although maybe not at that rate. Free trade is nice for making money, but also made inflation hard to keep pace with. You may not be able to buy all BiS, but you also don't need any of those things unless you are pushing raid content.
Heirloom has allowed me to easily gear all of my toons with better gear than they will need for anything I will do.
A combination of both would be sweet though!

I just started on Oakwynd 2 days ago and having a blast. Plenty of groups to get involved with.
Thinking of playing EQ again, I quit just after the pandemic. Many UK players still play?
I don’t know anyone from the UK that plays but I am sure there is some. Yelinak had a EU guild I bet oak does too

When you're boxing multiple characters, even on separate machines, many people are going to feel the same way about you as they do about MQ2. You're "botting". Botting is like the term "toxic" or "fascist". It's anything they don't like. A very popular EQ RUclipsr (you can probably guess which one) walked by 3 mages and said "Botters" even though he knew nothing about them at all. That could have been your group for all he knew.
Anyway, TLPs bring out the worst in people, so I'm happy they exist to drain off most of the assholes and leave me in peace to 6-box with IS Boxer in instances on live, harming no one.
To be fair he cheats, ruclips.net/video/qhr5Fdz-4Fw/видео.html 7m in, even when true box is removed he's using illegal software, and this was when true box was not removed
ISBoxer is specifically allowed by day break on non TLP

if you do a private pick though, people would just abuse it to get a ton of gear. plus it just helps people that can 6 box which i feel is unfair to people tht are playing 1 true box. Even that i know it sucks when someone is just siting there taking your named mobs
I don’t think the gear point is valid anymore as the server has non stop naggy vox ct deaths from pure profit people selling loot and LR to raid mobs. Let the loot rain from private instances. If anything will kill the KR price because anyone can obtain anything with effort. Without dealing with aoe power level groups or people who invis camp named to take.
Loot rain is good. There is a reason Mischief is so popular.

Hamj dude (not trying to be mean here ok?) you are preaching to the choir here. This has been going on since 1999. The whole KSing and perma camped mobs and dungeons. Sheesh gets even worse with the dragons. I mean everyone and I mean everyone pitched a huge fit over Bards kiting whole Planes at a time. I think it was Smedley who came out and said "Tough, we are not changing it". This is what ultimately started the whole 6 box thing with ISBoxer. People will always find a way to adapt and overcome. And THAT is the real reason why the Devs hate multi boxing is because some enterprising young programmers found a way around their bullshit. Seriously, I would rather 6 box on a live server that is dead to all but the highest content, than to mess around tying to get a group together and then go someplace just to find it camped, let alone ALL the camps are camped. I will give credit where it is due, at least Daybreak is trying to something about the KSing. But this game is 25 years old, and they are just now doing something about it, and they STILL can't get it right. Hate to say it but I think everyone is dreaming for something they just are not going to get.
I mean a ton of innovation has happened over the last 25 years. Instances, mob locking, perma camps, all that broken things in this game have been fixed by other games over the years. If SOE, Verant and Daybreak wanted to fix these problems they could have done it long ago. They don't have to re invent the wheel here, the technology is more than available. They won't even use a new Engine, that they could just buy and plug and play. Reality says that they not only don't care, but they have a whole different perspective of what this game is and could be. They just see it from a totally different point of view. Here let's talk about dreaming ok? Just think what would happen if a group of dedicated EQ players bought EQ from Daybreak. With the intent on making it the best MMO that they could with all the newest tech available. Huh? Now is that dreaming or what? I don't know what the end result would be but it would be a damn sight better than what it is now.
Ok, ok rant off. As you can tell. you touched a nerve here. One of the biggest reasons I quit playing EQ all those years ago. Started playing Wow and never looked back until Blizzrd got bought out by Activision. Boy did things go downhill fast from there. What? You don't have phones? Sheesh, companies these days have no clue who their customers are. Have a Budlight hehe.

after a couple years of expansions won't this server be crazier than test with all the bonuses? seems like you could go experience this on a free shard that overbuffs your char

Yeah, a 6-boxer that openly admits he doesn't want to have anyone else in his group and then complains about power levelers. That is some next level ignorance. The 2-box Aradune rule was the best TLP rule ever but sadly they only enforced it for about a month. Why don't people like this just play solo RPG's?
1 He doesn't want to play with you or your needy toons, and that is ok. 2. Your emotions about this are delusional and should be ignored as such. True boxing is supported by daybreak. Botting and zone disruption are not. There is a real difference even if your fee-fees of entitlement about who should group with you mean you are unable to descern it.

I group with people all the time on TLP. In fact most group don’t even have boxes in them.
Toram online does mob control is best. You cannot kill steal at all, wish that there system was put in all games.

Who the hell plays EQ in 3rd person view? :) The box campers are nasty. They've pushed Charred Guardian shields up to 2000 plat :) Fun times though. Instanced raiding is so boring

Private picks are the way to go imo. EQ isn't desiged for powergaming as it exists today and it shows. Everything is camped all the time. Hit 50 with a shm and a nec and just wanted to chill, afk camping IGs or something to save some plat till Kunark drops, not possible. All I can do aside from raids 2x a week is either start a 3rd alt or not play at all bc there is nothing to camp lol.
Who cares about the market being flooded with loot? Never the big seller anyway, in grps I pass for people who need, and if something gets greeded I usually give it away for free to a guildie anyway.
I think the only people having real issues with it are botter and DB themselves. Despite the black market existing there's probably still enough people buying opfficial krono from them to pay for PL and loot

I've never understood the point of someone playing EQ the way modern games are now. EQ is original because you group with other strangers and make it work. Now if you 6 box its just like a single player game. A very boring single player game. Socializing is what makes EverQuest. Every other MMO has easy SOLO paths. EQ isn't supposed to be that way so when you multibox all you are doing is Singleplayer EQ....FUN!!!
I 6 box with real people. If you don’t understand the benefit of what that actually means. Maybe not comment on how I have fun with the game. Because I don’t play alone. ;) 6 boxing is very fun though ;)
I hope no one takes your suggestion of private picks seriously. Of course that opinion would come from a 6 boxer that wants to treat this like some cringe solo emulated server.
