As a former pro pitcher I can say that all arm potential can be based off long toss, if you can’t full out effort with a crow hop throw a baseball 340ft on a fly at 45 degree angle their is absolutely no chance of you throwing 95 mph! It goes against physics! However to your point, I have seen numerous outfielders who could throw a baseball between 360-400ft but they can’t throw harder then 86mph from the mound. With solid mechanics like these being shown you can harness that overall power and arm strength to the mound! I do agree with some of this work most pitchers can add 2-3 mph consistently. Nice work.. When I played they did not focus much on hip flexors and more power and flexibility in hips.
Long toss kills your ucl and shoulder, it’s the most overrated throwing drill on the planet, I tried long tossing for about 3 months straight almost everyday as a freshman and literally the only thing I gained was elbow pain, there’s a program called TopVelocity that teaches mechanics speed improvement and overall athletic ability, I gained upwards of 8 mph and much less elbow pain

His mechanics seem pretty counter to what is taught by a lot of pitching coaches. I imagine Trevor Bauer would not like these mechanics at all. Very little to no drift, It actually looks like he doesn't create much drop, not a lot of hip to should separation, his hips are late because of counter rotation but no doubt he has an amazing arm and incredible range of motion. His block is extreme causing the recoil. It's incredible to see so many different mechanics work for elite pitchers.

This is the exact reason why some people have no idea what they are talking about. Do you understand how hip anatomy works? Everyone’s is different, all over the globe. Yordano has hip mobility limitations but it’s very clear that these actually worked in his favor. It’s most likely the reason why his arm was so quick. His hips didn’t have a long way to go from closed during drive, to open into landing. Having more or less internal or external rotation doesn’t always mean bad. It just means you will either be in IR dominant or ER dominant positions at different points in your delivery

It’s too bad what happened to him. Looking at his mechanics, I noticed that he does have a bit of an inverted W. Obviously he moves very well and more likely he has 40 plus inch vertical leap and can probably run a 60 yard dash in under 6.5 sec. So he creates a ton of force but on the injury side, what do you think he could have done to prevent injury from a mechanical standpoint/ volume/ recovery standpoint? Thank you!

I feel it's easier to do this with hitting though. shifting your weight properly in pitching is hard, it doesn't naturally happen like with hitting.
It depends on stride length I think. Longer stride = more drag Shorter stride = less drag The reason this is the case is because every pitcher pretty much in MLB and probably as well as the minor leagues release the ball 8-12 inches out front of your lead leg. Long strides require you to drag your foot to get that far out front. Short strides on the other hand can get away with not dragging, though it’s rare for it to be from efficient mechanics. At least from what I have seen.

If you use your scaps then that pulls the rubber band in our upper half and takes away the stress on our shoulder. With the pec we are stretching tissues and tendons in the shoulder with stress and you can’t get efficient arm rotation with the pec stretch. The stride or “leg strength” is overrated change my mind. Your momentum stops when you land so it doesn’t provide much power in the throw. Thats why you can run n gun/ crow hop/ whatever tf and still only get maybe an extra 5 mph (also probably because you’re throwing your body forward after landing but idk)The stride is only useful for getting closer to homeplate.
