I’m so glad I found your channel! I recently became a certified pet nutritionist and after everything I’ve learned, my cat is off all dry foods and is only fed canned food (weruva, PureVita, Fromm, Fussie Cat, or Open Farm), and raw food or gently cooked!
What do you recommend for a 7 year old shih-tzu? I was curious if I could have a dry food, with a dif brand wet food on top, but not all of it, as well as incorporating goat milk etc, please share your thoughts

I literally appreciate your videos soo much! You have helped make me such a better dog mom(switched to Orijen dog food because of a previous video you did and my pups LOVVVVVE IT and I feel so much better feeding a dog food with such good ingredients) , I’m wondering if the different varieties such as (small dog , original, etc) actually matter? I’ve noticed most of the time the ingredients are very similar.
I asked the women at the pet store I shop (Krisers Natural Pet), I asked the difference between stella &Chewy's small breed and the regular, and she said the difference is that the small breed has smaller kibble that may crumble more easily. But she said there is no difference in the ingredients. This is also a question you can email to the pet food company you use. Stella and chewys for example, responded to my inquiry within just a couple of hours. 🖤🐾
Orijen is terrible which causes heart failure in dogs over time. The foods that vets recommend are purina pro plan science diet and royal canine. Canine nutritionist do not have the same credentials as a veterinarian nutritionist. I wouldn't listen to anything on this channel. Also stop reading pet food ingredients. ITS ALL MARKETING TO GET YOURE MONEY!!

Your videos are so helpful❤ at first I had one of my dogs eat Purina puppy food and my other dog authority but I did some research and I didn't like the ingredients so I decided to feed both my dogs the BIXBI brand (Lamb and chicken recipe) and they love it 👏🏻 over all the best dog food in my opinion since one of my dogs have allergies since I switched helped with the allergies and taste better! and their brand is great & also their wet food too! It's a-bit pricey but for my fur babys it's worth it 🥰

My dogs were always super thirsty and not super interested in eating dry food plus some behavior issues even after 2 years of training. After watching a bunch of your videos I decided to just get a recipe from the vet and cook for them. It is definitely so much more work, costs $150/month more, and had to buy a mini freezer just for them but my dogs are much less thirsty and LOVE eating. The behavior issues are kind of non existent now!

I would LOVE to see a ranking video for commercial raw/fresh foods. I feed my pups FreshPet (specifically the multi-protein formula) but if there's a better option I can afford I'd gladly look into it.
I generally love fresh pet for it's ease of buying & use, my issue is the amount of times I've found mould in it fresh from the store 😭

The ingredients low tier in my opinion. I’d recommend apupabove or open farm or small batch for gently cooked and smallbatch, Steve’s real food, primal, tuckers, northwest naturals (I could keep going) for raw food. Hope this helps!

For working retrievers, I feed the highest fat, highest protein kibble on the market: Red Paw Poweredge 32k. First ingredient is menhaden. A favorite kibble among mushers up here in interior Alaska. Expensive but worth it...525 kcal/cup.
Hi Skylar. Love your vids! About the Wellness in the Hell Yeah category. I bought a few bags and there aren’t 5 meat ingredients. My bags look identical but only lists Deboned Chicken, Chicken Meal, then oatmeal, peas and brown rice. No Turkey at all.
Is it still a Hell Yeah do you think?
Can you review in a next video the Backcountry raw infused? Their mix with raw coated kibble and freeze- dried raw.

I LOVE your videos...and watching quite a few as we speak. Im about to get a japanese chin pup,and we care about the right food. Can you give me a couple of YOUR choices on what one to buy him as a pup...and the other as an adult. I also read that chins can get hypoglycemic,if they arent eating the right food....its why i ask.I'd sooo appreciate it. Great videos!!

Thanks for the videos because of them I switched my 7 month old bull terrier to Essence and we top the kibble with fruits and veggies you can already see a difference in just 2 months. THANKS AGAIN

QUESTION! First of all thank you so much for the video. We have three dogs that have been doing great on Castor and Pollux dog food for years and years. One of our dogs lived to 17 on this food healthily, we have a 15-year-old pup who has eaten nothing but Castor and pullox and she is going strong and still chasing squirrels with no meds or dysplasia or anything.. Now they’ve discontinued our dog food, 😢 we have a few bags we’ve hoarded, but are looking for good parallel to that dog food. Do you have any suggestions?

Hiii, this is most definitely a long shot. However, I’ve been watching your videos religiously to learn more about the best food for my puppy! My puppy is 8 weeks old (eating Purina UCK), I went to the pet store and got “Merrick Backcountry Raw Infused Puppy” and cannot find any information from a reliable source on if this is a good food for her. I also got the “Instinct Raw Topper” for her as well from your advise! That was the only raw topper I could find! Could you do a review on Backcountry possibly?? I would LOVE to know more information, I cannot find any😩
Lover your reviews. Based on an earlier video of yours, I have used Karna 4 and Essence for my babies. I add my home made bone broth, a spoon of fresh pumpkin and some raw topper to each meal. How do the Chef's Kiss products listed here compare with the Chef Kiss products in your earlier video where Karna 4 and Essence were listed?
Was looking at the Nutro today, looks like it’s been updated. The updated list is now Chicken, chicken meal, whole grain barley, split peas, brewers rice.

Have you given a review of Open Farm or Stella & Chewy?? My dog does not like dog food but seems to like these brands in the freeze dried. I mix a little kibble with it along with pumpkin.

I've recently started my adult chihuahua on a diet mixing the dry and wet dog food + adding some freeze dried raw dog food as a topper (stella & chewy's meal mixers superblends and orijens' freeze dried tundra).
My family has 3 senior & special needs pom mixes and my partner has a husky. All 3 poms have bad poultry allergies. One also has alopecia & can't digest red meats. He's 18 yrs old and has been allergy tested multiple times throughout his life. We mostly have to stick to fish & insect proteins and vegetarian dog food like V Dog or WildEarth. Hell be 19 in April and is doing amazing. We also supplement with additional fresh fish, brown rice & veggies

We had a Husky and Golden who we fed Eukanuba to. We are bringing home an Irish Setter in two weeks and I have been searching for someone to rate Eukanuba to see if I should continue with the new pup.
Hello! I really like your educated dry dog food rankings. I want to ask have you considered doing one for Petco? Unfortunately, my little pug/bulldog baby has some allergies. He’s excessively licking his paws. I feed him blue buffalo wet dog food and now I’m noticing in the blue buffalo wild dog food has a lot more negative than positives. I didn't know that rice may cause inflammation. I want to buy him the best quality food. Exactly what you say “no fillers, chemicals, or by products etc.”
I’d love to hear your opinion on Canidae. We recently switched to their Pure salmon and sweet potato recipe. I’ve noticed that the kibble has changed in shape and in color. It used to be much smaller and darker. I haven’t looked to compare ingredient panels from the old to newer batches as I no longer have the old bags. I’ve spent countless hours deciding on what to feed our 3 bulldogs. Now that I thought I found one they went and switched up the kibble. Tell me I’m not crazy lol

Thank you for posting these educational videos but I am still needing some help. I have a mini schnauzer, he is 3 yrs old named Arthur :) I was feeding him the Royal canine schnauzer adult food. After watching your video I have now ordered the Royal canine and the liberty chicken recipe small breed food to mix together. I did check the ingredients on the Royal canine and I feel like from the ingredients you wouldn’t recommend it because the chicken is the 6th ingredient which I find sus too but so many vets have recommended it and I’m just kinda confused too because I guess schnauzers have fatty blood and have pancreatitis issues so I’m hoping to get some guidance from you about this if possible. I just want my dog to be healthy

I've been studying animal nutrition for years as well. One thing here I don't like here is your ranking of the Liberty food. Can't forget that the chicken as the first ingredient is by weight before the cooking process, so I suspect the lentils is probably the first ingredient by weight as a finished product. Still better than most I guess, but as an exclusive DIY raw feeder, I have a hard time praising ANY kibble. Great content for kibble feeders to do better, and I have shared some of your videos on my FB page.

What are your thoughts about kibble for overweight dogs? My lab mix is a food driven chow hound and quite a bit overweight. I bought Fat Dog by Natural Balance cause it's marketed for my fat baby... Is it any good? Any recommendations for a diet food? W/D kibble from the vet is really expensive so I'm looking for alternatives.

Do you have any opinion on Nulo pet food, which is also at Petsmart? They were originally grain free, but now have “ancient grains.”
Is "Tribal" or "Celtic" a better kibble? Can you please please rank commercial raw food!! I’m just starting to learn for my cats and want to incorporate convenient more cheap stuff asap while I learn more about making raw recipes. Any opinions on Canidae Pure Wholesome Grains?
Having two English bulldogs that can be the pickiest of eaters, I started buying skin on chicken thighs when they are on sale and boiling up 4 or 5 and then shredding the meat off the bone. I use the broth created from boiling to make brown rice mixed with peas, diced carrots and green beans and the shredded chicken meat.
I now have 5 days worth of meals for them and they wolf it all down like a kid with Halloween candy.
My wife has recently started making them baked treats consisting of oatmeal, peanut butter and canned pumpkin which they'll now eat before any commercial treat.

Our vet approves of this diet as they are getting their nutrients and especially since they are prone to being overweight.

Chewy has some brands you can’t find anywhere else. I’d love to hear your opinion about essence limited ingredient recipes, they definitely seem like a better food.

Our vet recommended Gentle Giants through Chewy and he’s been doing great on it but I’m worried it may not be as good as I’d like. I just discovered you because we’re adding a puppy to our family and it’s been so long since I’ve looked at puppy food. I love your videos!
