Autism Answers - Question 24: Shutdowns

In the twenty-fourth question, we're asked for clarifications on "implosions." That is: Shutdowns.
This is the question:
"I wondered if it's considered Autistic behavior not to explode (for example through a meltdown), but to implode, as in collapsing inwardly in a way people can't see from the outside. I've almost never had visible explosions, only substantial moments of apathy, with the inability to pull out of it, to find the willpower to self-discipline. Can this type of behavior be connected to being on the autism spectrum?"
