    Brilliant idea! I copied your materials but tackled the polishing part a little differently. I had very good results using a rotary buffer and buffing compound. I followed this up with paste wax and it shines like a '65' Cadillac!

    Long ago, on many boats, proper fairing/sanding only needed single coat of one part Interlux done with 1/8" foam roller and badger brush produced deep reflections and high gloss.

    Did you do any sanding between paint coats? I'm doing my 2007 Coachman Mirada. I want more than one color, any tips on that? Thanks for the videos they are really great.

    • @RoamingWithRosie
      @RoamingWithRosie  11 месяцев назад

      I did light sanding with 400 between coats. For multiple colors I would paint the color that would be the majority color first and let that cure. Then proceed with the next color that and so on. You want to make sure the the paint that your going to be masking on for the next color is cured enough so it won’t peel when you go to remove your masking.
      Hope this helps.

    Is this a 1000.hr paint job? Have a 36ft class that im considering painting, not sure if im gonna spray or try rolling, this seems like it would be a full time job for a few months of non stop work.

    • @RoamingWithRosie
      @RoamingWithRosie  8 месяцев назад

      Felt like it, too. The weather seemed to make the project go on and on. That and this old body had to recover for a few days between each section. Especially with the sanding. But I like doing things like this.

  • @kerryhager1841
    @kerryhager1841 Год назад

    One question, why did you not just spray the entire RV? It seems like it would be easier. Also did you end up ordering decals or paint your design? Do you have a video on this?

    • @RoamingWithRosie
      @RoamingWithRosie  Год назад +2

      It’s hard to control overspray when using a spray can. Rolling the rest of the RV was less expensive and easier to control and a lot less masking. I also felt that I got better coverage rolling. We have not decided if we are going to do any graphics. I won’t do any decals they don’t last. I would be right back where I started with faded and cracked decals in a few years.

    As a car/motorcycle painter for a number of years, do your lungs a favor and wear a mask or respirator when you are spraying any kind of paint. The paint is looking good! Are you going to put graphics on it? I've seen some Alfas lately with nice graphics and full body paint.

    • @RoamingWithRosie
      @RoamingWithRosie  Год назад +1

      I know your right I get caught up in what I’m doing and forget the mask. I’m not sure if we are going to put graphics on or not. We are going to leave it white for a while and decide if and what type of graphics we want. If we do I’m going to paint them on. No more decals.

    As somebody that painted for a living using a spray can to paint your motorhome really? You have clean air in your tanks, buy a sprayer, and so enamel and some reducer and do it right. It would stand up for years. Unlike a spray can paint no matter what kind of paint you use.

    • @RoamingWithRosie
      @RoamingWithRosie  Год назад +1

      As you know being a painter there’s a learning curve in knowing how to use a sprayer and getting your paint mix right. I have a few friends that used the method that I used rolling and tipping and the paint has held up. As I said in the video I only sprayed the lower half because of the storage doors. I’ll agree you would probably get a better result using your method.
      Thanks for watching!

    • @jeffmill6683
      @jeffmill6683 Год назад

      @RoamingWithRosie true there is but if you can spare with a spray can you can use a spray gun. The big thing is thinning the paint so you don't end up with orange peel. I was 16 when I started working in a body shop and within 4 months is was doing spot jobs like a fender or a door. No clear coating back then. One thing I couldn't do was match colors well so I quit and drove semi's for 42 years. I retired after 6 million miles with 1 accident and maybe 15 tickets. Or.hates trucks and most of my tickets were there and were BS tickets which cost more to fight than to just pay.

    • @safwsu639
      @safwsu639 Год назад +1

      @@RoamingWithRosieI am on your page. I have all the air equipment needed but I am going to do the roll and tip.
      Why?
      I am outside. Under cover but not wanting the pressure and stress of having to shoot all sides of 38 feet and the height. Way too much risk due to not being in a paint booth. Your method works for me!
