  • The latest version of the F-16, officially dubbed the F-16 Block 70, is a thoroughly modern fighter jet. The original F-16 was introduced in the 1970s, but the new jet is a different beast thanks to advanced avionics. F-16 Block 70 fighter jet can be deployed in suppression of enemy air defences missions, air-to-ground and air-to-air combat, and deep interdiction and maritime interdiction missions.

Roger Wilco ...I wasn’t referring to the weight in my comments, I was only referring to the different types of weapons the Air Force can deliver. The F-16 can carry every different type of ordinance the Air Force is capable of delivering. I believe it still can, however I’m unsure about some of the newer bombs/missiles that will be available soon. Not the weight of them respectively, just the different types.

Lockheed Martin unveiled the F-21 concept at the Aero India air show on 20 February 2019. The F-21 combines the F-16V Block 70-->72 configuration with a single-panel cockpit, avionics resembling the F-35's integrated cockpit display, a triple-rail AIM-120 launcher, and integrated probe-and-drogue conformal fuel tanks from the former F-16IN.

Just started and wanted to offer: This is a great 4+ + Fighter, with CFT, Class Cockpit, Arrays, JH-Targeting, Multi Load-Outs including the B61-Mod-2 and more re FMS. Glas to see a vid about this beauty! Plus, as BLK 80, she's packing that sweet GE Powerplant!
She's a SEAD, A2/AD, C³, CAS and more Beast. With LMT focusing F-35A/B/C & sliming down the F-22 Factory Infrastructure (against Think Tank, DoD, USAF, Strat. Planners and other key individuals and groups {esp. during the initial timeframe. Cheers Sequestration! ~650? Nah. 186 will do! sigh) most of the assembly occurred in the smaller SC Factories, which gives a boost to our Southern neighbours and helps their workforce 👏👏!
Still, the Blk 70 is a gnarly platform and highlights the incredible aspects & technology that made the F-16 such a marvel after she debuted! Inherently unstable, HOTAS, thrust-to-weight and agility allowed her to become the best selling fixed-wing fighter aircraft allowed to be exported. Of course, the F-16I & Lavi Programme may explain how the PLAAN - like the rest of PRC hardware: Counterfit Aircraft Designs J-6, J-10 & 'newly' released J-16 data - came into such tech so early. Especially as the US recanted on sales after Tiananmen Square... but let's not dwell.
India has a chance to domestically build the F-21, and I'm certain Trade Secrets will remain in The Subcontinent.
But F It. Here's to the F-16. Kicking Arse Proper Like for decades to come!👊👊

And you have to consider the Russian airforce is mostly a defensive AF with Su27/35, MiG 29/35 and MiG 31 being interceptors/air-superiority
