  • You enter the confessional and you tell the priests your sins-where you've made mistakes since your last confession. But do you know where those sins came from? What the root cause is?
    Today, Fr. Josh Johnson helps us identify the lies that we believe about God-and how to speak truth into them by staying close to Him in prayer.

    A remedy for Sloth: Meditate on the last words of Jesus on the Cross, “ It is finished.” For myself and all who struggle with this demon, it lies to you that whatever you have to do can be done tomorrow. “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your heart” (Morning Invitatory Psalm 95).

    When Fr Josh said the lie we believe is that God is not enough, it was an eye wide opening event. Just what I needed to hear.

    If someone as wonderful as Fr. Josh can be guilty of some of the Seven Deadly Sins, then I think most of us are in trouble. I finally went back to Confession after 13 years because I kept not making time in the busy schedule to do it.

    • @glaceRaven
      @glaceRaven 2 года назад +2

      In fairness, the reason they're called "the seven deadly sins" isn't because they're the worst but because they are the easiest categories of sin to fall into (especially pride), and thus the most common, and can lead to progressively larger sins if we let them. They're the biggest risk, and thus "the most deadly"

    Amen Father. Sometimes we tend to be so focused on our own sins that we disregard our relationship with God. Thank you for making me realise that! God bless

    Thanks Fr. Josh. I don't watch your videos frequently, but when I do they're always profound. This one came at the right time for me (at least, I saw it at the right time, though after you posted it), and helped me recognize that I'm dealing with pride at the root of current patterns of sin. Thank you for your ministry, and may God bless you! (P.S., if anyone reading this could pray for God to bless me with humility (gently, I pray), I'd appreciate it.)

    Very well said, Father. You have described my struggle perfectly. As I reflect upon my habitual sins, I realize that I am spiritually lazy and this keeps me from truly growing in a relationship with Our Lord. Help me O Lord to keep Thee first in all of my thoughts, words, and actions.

    Thank you Fr. Josh for your message. It was just what I needed to hear. I need to do a thorough examination of conscience and get to the reasons, as to why, I do the things I do that offend God and others. In my heart, I want to be pleasing to God and be an example of a good Christian. After this examination of conscience I need to go and receive His forgiveness through the Sacrament of Reconciliation. God Bless you.

Ever since I started going in person school I have been busy being a student althete I haven't make time to pray. I'm just too focus on school but not in God. Please pray for me.

    Forgive me father, for I have sinned. I hurt my mother a lot sometimes. I feel she's so much in to material world., She's a Hindu and doesn't get inclined towards Christ. But my problem is even as a Hindu she doesn't increase her devotion.
    I dislike my dad.. because his heart is closed.
    I know I am flawed too lord and I know I don't have to point at others mistakes. But, I just wish things weren't like this. I just want to be me. By myself. Alone alone alone. Jerry McGuire was a great movie... 😀

      With God EVERYTHING is possible.
      Humbling yourself to allow Him to heal you is hard. Pride (my big one) says, “God is not enough, I need to do it.”
      Honey, I’m 66 and believe me until I let go and let Him work on me, I was a mess. At 35 I found Him, my Savior, at 50 when my husband died, I accepted Him as my Lord.
      Now He runs my life. Not easy, but filled with love, joy and peace especially in the midst of difficulties.
      I am His daughter, a Princess. Unfortunately, too much like Peter for some folks, so I head to confession more frequently😊 The more I confess, the more I grow.
      You are His beloved-never forget that. He sings joyfully because of you…Zephaniah 3:17

    You'd think that a perfect, all knowing, infallible God could create beings that aren't this blatantly fallible and full of sin??? Is he enjoying watching his creation fail all the time? And wiping them out on a regular basis?
    Sounds kind of maniacal\psychopathic...

      So you would prefer not having a choice to love? You can only truly love if you love freely. Coerced or forced love is not love and who would want that, it would be a lie. Your vision of what God should be is actually despotic and psychotic. Love is based on free will. So is sin.

    • @chachatruth3534
      @chachatruth3534 2 года назад

      God is perfect!
      We are not! We choose the sin out of free will!
      But OUR LOVING GOD!! WAITS WITH ARMS OPEN FOR US ! TO SEE THAT SIN GETS US NOWHERE!!
      SO WE SHOULD LEARN TO FOLLOW OUR GOD!
      IMAGINE IF EVERYONE DID THAT!
      IT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!

    Please don’t use those fake candles on the bookcases in the background. Someone watching who doesn’t know any better might think that they are real candles. And think that what you’re showing is safe and ok (which it isn’t) if they attempt to replicate the look. Sometimes people can be really dumb.
