I promise as soon as I get a job again. Going through stuff. I had dinner with Joel Edgerton’s Dad because of a mandatory law license event. There were like 5 of us at the table and the guy got peppered. Total gentlemen. I wrote an essay about this movie on Medium. It is a top 5 for me.
"Legend"is another good tom hardy movie that isn't well known I recommend it,not as good as this movie but it shows toms ability to act very well👍🏾btw love the reaction Nd this movie hits hard I love it nick Nolte is amazing in this movie
Nick Nolte killed it with the drunk scene. That is the most spot on interpretation of a drunk older man I have ever seen on film. Exactly how my pop was when we were kids.
Damn, I'm sorry you had to see that. I have a friend who dealt with the same thing. The way she talked about it, having to care for him and what not, was in such a nonchalant way that it made me think she really did not want to think about how bad the situation was. I only listened, but it really felt like she was holding back such emotion when I was looking into her eyes.
Hits home because Tommy knew he pushed him too hard. Mocked him and his sobriety, that he fell of the wagon. At that point, even though he was a terrible father, Tommy acknowledged his dad was trying. And his dad was at his most vulnerable.
In the final fight, Tommy didn’t tap till he heard his brother say “I love you”. He didn’t need to hear “I’m sorry” or anything else. He needed to hear his brother say I love you and feel it.
One of the most underrated movies there is. From the outside it may just look like a mma movie, but the fighting is just the vehicle to move along one of the most compelling stories of forgiveness I've ever seen. Also Nick Nolte's relapse scene where he's screaming at captain ahab to turn the boat around is world class.
The man you keep on pointing out to be beautiful. He was an actual UFC fighter. His name is Anthony 'Rumble' Johnson, he sadly passed away in 2022, he was truly loved by the fighter community.
One of my favourite ever fighters. Loved the respectful and even gentle side he showed right up till the cage door closed and then "Rumble" showed up. Gone far too early 😢
@@lethalsnake666a true gentlemen that beat the shit out of women and loved to grope his grandmas ass. Yeah, a true gentleman. Simping for a dead man doesn’t make you a good person, it just makes you pathetic.
The way Tommy recoils when he sees his father drunk you start to understand that his hostility towards his father isn't hate but fear. He turns into the same scared child he was when he left but as a grown man has found the courage to understand and appreciate the remorse and efforts Paddy has taken to be somewhat better.

Manny was military brother who died in the friendly fire incident that he was the sole survivor of. He felt betrayed and decided to leave and went AWOL and stumbled across some fellow soldiers who were drowning in the "tank" and he rescued them and has been hiding. He promised Manny that he would take care of his family and is fighting solely for them. That's why they all still cheer. Because they can all understand the situation and why he did what he did. And still consider him a brother.
I love this movie so much. Rewatched it so many times. Glad that you liked it. Nick Nolte killed it in this role with Tom. That scene in casino is sooo good.
I hate when people simply say, "This guy should've won" without having watched the other nominees. Christopher Plummer was amazing for "Beginners," and Nick Nolte was amazing too, but that's the thing with the Oscars: most of the time it's not going to be 100% objective because there's multiple actors that deserve the award; it isn't as simple as "He should've won.".
Crazy how many people are unaware about this movie. Perhaps maybe even Hardy's best work? I think it gets to people because everyone on this planet has gone through some sort of trauma. Its not some fairytale where everyone wins
Joel Edgerton, too! I feel like he gets overlooked a lot because Nolte was such a scene stealer (in a good way) and Hardy is just so damn intense. But, he was so damn easy to root for and like in this movie. Truly great cast in a truly underrated movie. And, great soundtrack to boot.
I think the way this movie portrays the realistic approach of MMA and forgiveness , it wasn't too "Commercial" and the editing also was damn perfect , no extra scenes , no unnecessary slow mo closeups . Maybe that's why it didn't appeal to a LARGER audience.
One of my favorite movies of all time. I am 38 and my mom had another son with a different man when I was 18. She lost him to CPS when I was 21 and he was 3 back in 2008 and I never saw him again and still don’t know where he is, as he got taken away 3 days before I left for basic training for the Army. Last time I saw my father was 8/18/2008. I punched him in the face 6 times and left for basic training the next day and haven’t seen him since. My mother has been sober for 11 years (2013) and we now have a a beautiful relationship, but I haven’t spoken to my father because he is literally the antichrist, and 16 years later I still haven’t found my half brother. I turned to jiu jitsu for an outlet and am heavily involved in that community so I love the MMA aspect along with the story. The movie admittedly resonates with me more so than it probably does most, and I can’t watch the final scene without crying every single time. I thought everyone did a tremendous job acting in it and I thought they did a terrific job mixing in the stories so it wasn’t just another fight movie. Wish more people reacted to this, it’s a great movie! Edit: Tom Hardy is also a purple belt in jiu jitsu and competes fairly regularly and has won several competitions…and is one of the nicest humans imaginable.
This movie makes grown ass men cry like little babies. When the music sets in, in the end and brendan looks at his father through the cage it's so heavy.

Great choice; impossible not to cry :-) Also you might be surprised, but Joel Edgerton (Brandon) had significantly more mixed martial arts experience than Tom Hardy, which is one reason why they needed Tom Hardy's fights to be very short. They also had very limited time and money to shoot this movie, so lots of credit goes to its writer and director Gavin O'Connor, who played the rich guy putting up the prize money.
I'm a 53-year-old French man, and I love this movie. It hits close to home. I've watched it several times and each and every time I cry to those same scenes. The scene with Nick Nolte getting drunk in the hotel room is heart wrenching. He's such a great actor. And I can't hold back my tears when the music starts during that last fight. Absolutely love this movie, such a great story. Great reaction.

Nick Nolte made my heart and soul bleed with his perfomance. The casino scene where Tom Hardy's character tells him to f off, he's not wanted, and you can literally see the man crumble before your eyes, and the following scene where Nick Nolte's character is blindly drunk, listening to a voice book of Moby Dick, begging and screaming at the captain (Ahab) to turn the ship and not pursue the whale ... and then the son stops him, gets him into bed and nestles him. It's just so beautiful.
Kurt Angle was awesome in this. Everything he does reminds you he was/is indeed a legitimate wrestler and athlete. Also the sounds the actors make during the fights are really well done, the grunt and such, like the Bmrbm from Brendan in the last fight.
I cried watching this film , First time since watching an old film called . The Champ . Some times that shield has to come down . Tom Hardy is an outstanding actor and can play anyone .
Reacting to one of my favourite movies... yeah that is an automatic subscribe. This movie always brings a tear to my eye, it is one of the most underrated movies made in the last 20+ years.
I was loudly sobbing leaving this movie in theaters and I still cry at the ending every time I see it, even right now watching your video I'm a mess as soon as that music starts in the last round and it goes over the edge at the end before they walk out.
I will never forget the first time I saw this film. I was busy remodeling a house to convert it to a museum. I was taking up the very old linoleum, tar paper and roofing nails from some hardware floors and hadn't eaten all day. I ordered pizza, a lot of pizza, put on this film, watched it three times in a row and basically finished that entire floor well after midnight. It was a great night though because of this film and the determination of the characters.
Brendan was played by Joel Edgerton, who is an Australian actor, who has also done some writing and directing in the past. His older brother is Nash Edgerton, who is the director of Mr. Inbetween, which is also being covered on this channel.
This was the movie that made me want to train MMA and i loved every min of it gotta get back at it. Tommy is the bull that unstoppable force that just runs through his opponents, Brenden is the technical fighter that uses his ground techniques loved how they gave each brother there own fighting style
@@chrissiereacts Also for Hardy look up ''The Drop'' (2014) he plays a autistic bartender who gets caught up with the MOB. Naomi Rapace is also in it (personally i think shes one of the most underrated female actresses) , and this also was one of James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano from The Sopranos) last few films before his sudden death. Great movie with a great twist at the end.
This film is incredible. I always recommend it to folk because everyone should see it. I like to think of the brothers as contrasting responses to trauma within the same person. The anger, the cerebral- one of them becomes feral and the other slowly drowns while it tries to maintain a sense of normality. In their confrontation and unity, they manage to cope.
So the brother opposite Tom Hardy is Joel Edgerton. A great Australian who played Uncle Lars (in Starwars, Luke Skywalker's uncle), the antagonist in The Great Gatsby , he's a stuntman and he and his brother make Aussie films. In fact you are watching a show his brother Nash Edgerton directed, Mr Inbetween. The Edgerton brothers are Australian legends that go under the radar but legendary none the less. ;)
I thought it was such a nice touch with how the brothers picked up on their fathers mannerisms even though they rejected his very existence. The "tsk" the father does with his upper lip was mirrored by Brendan on the beach.
It’s a great movie you cry baby 😅 ok I’m an ex fighter and I confess I shed a tear, or 3. A beautiful raw, brutal emotional roller coaster of a movie. Loved sharing it again with you 👍

I went into labour on April 15th 2012 watching this. I wouldn’t leave until the end tho 😂 still one of my fave films to this day
Hahahaha amazing 😅
Man, once that song hits at the end…….. it’s over emotionally.
Great reaction.
THANK YOU for your emotions and reaction to the video!
I'm a guy, but I cried too 🫡 at the end
I am always asking reaction channels to react to this movie,a true hidden gem and what a performance by Nick Nolte
I cried watching this film , First time since watching an old film called . The Champ . Some times that shield has to come down . Tom Hardy is an outstanding actor and can play anyone .
20:45 the guy u ask, "woah, who's that guy?" That Brendan was fighting. That's former UFC fighter Anthony Johnson. Sadly, he passed away 2yrs ago
It’s great watching an intelligent young lady react to movies like this
Tom Hardy is the best
This was such an underrated movie. Great reaction!!!
Reacting to one of my favourite movies... yeah that is an automatic subscribe.
This movie always brings a tear to my eye, it is one of the most underrated movies made in the last 20+ years.
Phenomenal movie. Even on rewatches it makes me tear up
Great underrated movie.. noone get out unscathed from getting in touch with their emotions watching this one
Just going off memory alone, I was wiping my eyes with you. Currently have a grade 3 acj separation so I will be binging your stuff for awhile
Man that final scene with the song "Today"... shoot you just cant hold back a tear.
Oh! almost forgot. Since you are on a Tom Hardy kick, don't forget LEGEND. He plays Twins! SOOOO GOOD! You won't regret it.
Yes! Keep hearing about about this one. Will definitely check it out
@@chrissiereacts Also for Hardy look up ''The Drop'' (2014) he plays a autistic bartender who gets caught up with the MOB. Naomi Rapace is also in it (personally i think shes one of the most underrated female actresses) , and this also was one of James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano from The Sopranos) last few films before his sudden death. Great movie with a great twist at the end.
Best reaction to this movie ive seen. She understood all side. The father, tommy and whoever the guy who won was👀😂😂
One of the best movies I’ve ever watched and one of the only ones so far I’ve ever bought on a phone alone
I need everyone to react to this
This film is incredible.
The end put me in a hurt locker
I loved this when I first saw it. And I cried a lot. It’s just a wonderful film. They are both fighting their demons. As is their father.
The “tap Tommy, I love you” always gets me to this day
In my humble opinion, the single greatest artwork in the history of cinema.
Tom Hardy played this role perfectly. the true heart of a Marine. winning this fight was his mission. he will give everything to complete his mission.
The Edgerton brothers are Australian legends that go under the radar but legendary none the less. ;)
One of the most underrated movies ever.
Just discovered your channel. Enjoy your genuine reactions. Respect.
Tom’s traps in this movie are insane 😂
Fantastic reaction Christine! Please never apologize for being real. Keep it up and be your genuine self.
I thought it was such a nice touch with how the brothers picked up on their fathers mannerisms even though they rejected his very existence. The "tsk" the father does with his upper lip was mirrored by Brendan on the beach.
One of my favorites, they really know how to get the emotions flowing as well its a tough ride but so worth it
It’s a great movie you cry baby 😅 ok I’m an ex fighter and I confess I shed a tear, or 3. A beautiful raw, brutal emotional roller coaster of a movie. Loved sharing it again with you 👍
Sad there is only one season but Taboo the tv show will blow your mind.
Just watched you react to two of my fave movies. I love how you really get into them and how the movies move you. Earned a new sub ❤
Curious what your other favourite is?
@@chrissiereacts Dead Man's Shoes ❤️❤️
Nothing wrong with crying for that movie. It hits me in the gut every time I see it.
Such a great film 👏 and as an Aussie it's cool to see Joel Edgerton in this one 🇦🇺
Massively underrated movie. Doesn't get the love it should. Great reaction!
Just a damn great movie. The acting was superb, and it gives me the leaking eyes everytime i watch it.
taboo one of my favorite tom hardy characters! Super underrated!
One of THE BEST movies!
Another good film with hardy id recommend legend. He played twin mobsters with two completely different personalities!
So glad I found your channel! Love your reactions and your emotions! As a fellow movie lover it's great to see someone appreciate them so much! Warrior did well at the box office! Locke is a great movie completely set inside a moving car! Harding is in a lot more of great stuff so if Joel! Hardy is also in The Dark Knight Rises as Bane and he's really big size wise in it! I'd love for you to watch my favorite movie "Rocky" the first one! Cheers from Canada!
I am here because of your Bronson rewiew, much luv from across the sea here in Ireland
