- Ohio Street Running Train Answers The Question Of Whether Or Not Trains Have To Stop For Red Lights! 2 Giant Norfolk Southern Railroad Bridges & CSX Train Booking Through Railroad Crossing. 5 Track Railroad Crossing With Local Switching Freight Train Delivering Freight Car To Customer. These Trains Are In Franklin And Miamisburg, Ohio. Norfolk Southern Dayton District & CSX Toledo Sub.
I was at a 5 track railroad crossing in Miamisburg, Ohio across from the abandoned power plant. A short local switcher was coming from Dayton, Ohio to deliver a covered hopper car to a customer at the end of the industrial spur that has a section of street running track in Franklin, Ohio on 6th Street. We see an EMD SD40-2 running long hood forward down the middle of the street. I get questions all the time asking if street running trains have to stop for red lights. Well, as you can see, the light was red and the train approached the street with the horn blaring.
This is the second best section of street running track in Ohio. The best is the long section in Marietta, Ohio that I have filmed with trains running in both directions. See my Street Running Trains playlist for those videos.
We see the train going both directions down the street and then I show the train at the five track crossing that I had filmed shortly before the street running part.
Next we see a long Norfolk Southern manifest crossing another giant railroad bridge. This one is in Miamisburg, Ohio. I think this is the first time that I have filmed a freight train on that bridge. The train will pass through here on its way to Sharon Yard in Sharonville, Ohio.
The last train is a CSX auto racks train booking across the Union Street railroad crossing in Carlisle, Ohio. I went here after filming the NS trains in hope of getting some CSX fast trains. I got a few more and used the radar gizmo for Part 2. Part 2 will also include a loaded continuous welded rail train on the CSX that I got right when I was leaving. It will be posted soon. Best frequencies here are 160.980 for Norfolk Southern and 160.440 for CSX.
Don't miss the Live Action Pets and the slide show at the end of the video.
Filmed Monday, May 6, 2024 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!
Please thumbs up and watch another JawTooth video to help my channel.

This video had two new angles on the street running and one can't help but laugh where in the span of 5 Seconds the unit blows a stop sign a no right turn sign and a do not enter sign. Then on the way back four guys in reflective vests try to capture it behind an orange plastic fence but they missed. A poor bird swoops down to get a tasty morsel from between the rails but has to do a touch and go as the unit approaches. Lastly the white pickup truck hugs the curb and comes to a stop the exact opposite of anybody driving in LaGrange KY would do. Even the bike path has enough signs to confuse one but notice nobody ran the stop lights! Special thanks for photographing that bridge especially the way the support peers are placed to spread the weight out and avoid those culverts Bridges at an angle can really bring out some great designs and this one was no exception. Plus Brandy was spot on catching the biscuit
A train does not follow road rules!
Man that street signal has been there a long time! Always liked watchin' you do these videos!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Glad you like them!
Morning Jaw Tooth from Alabama. Short trains need love too!
Sir, do you know why I pulled you over? I ran a red lights. And? 😂😂😂
the answer is no - never admit to anything , the answer is always no
.
😊 they see me chuggin, they hating
But I couldn't stop in time.
I thought red meant go?
Cool filming of the train going back over the bridge JT. Awesome filming of the manifest train over the big trestle Bridge that was a long train! How cool is Brandi just laid there waiting for a treat. Very handsome horse! 🐕🐕🐕🐴❤😊👍
It would be cool to see that street runner in the snow..
Street running trains amazing JT thanks keep up the good work sir and have a great day from Scotland 😊
I liked the news locations that you found to catch the Norfolk Southern local as it ran down the street in Franklin, Ohio, Jaw Tooth! The Norfolk Southern local pulling the covered hopper and the tank car was not the type of train that we would have liked to see at crossing near the former coal fired electric generating plant in Miamisburg, Ohio. I wonder how much cleaning will have to be done before that former coal fired electric generating plant can be repurposed. The Norfolk Southern train working its way on the approach to the bridge in Miamisburg, Ohio looked good from the location that you found to capture the train. The CSX auto rack train in Carlisle, Ohio was a bonus for this video.
Wow! Excellent catching all the trains in both Franklin and Miamisburg, Ohio, I was in Miamisburg, Ohio, about couple of few hours ago today, I like the trains, they're awesome, @JawTooth, Brian, thank you very much.
Very cool! I hope you got some trains in Miamisburg
Great return to a great location Jawtooth! That SD40-2 sure is cool! The old EMD's are my favorite!👍
Mine too!
I LOVE to watch the locomotives doing the local work!
Me too!
Good morning Jawtooth this is a great location. I love these covered train bridges. Have a good day.
Thanks, you too!
Just soaking in the bath after a long day on the ward. Thank you JT you are a good bloke from across the pond
Glad you enjoyed it!
0:44 I agree! Awesome signal! Very cool to see. 😃
Thanks for watching!
Hi Jeff & it's is Randy and i like yours video is cool & Thanks Jaw & Friends Randy
Amazing new filming spots! I love them. That angled bridge was really cool. Hi to Brandi, Chessie, and Loki. Thanks JT. ❤
Glad you enjoyed!
You film at so many great locations and record so many neat trains. But, still my favorite part of these videos: "Is That Cool Or What?"
Your passion for your hobby makes these videos so much fun to watch. Keep up the great work! 🚂👍🏻
Thank you very much!
Whenever I see videos of street running trains, I always wonder which came first, the railroads or the streets. I like to try to imagine how the area looked before settlers came there, how the landscape changed over the years, especially where the spreading urban sprawl of towns would encroach on the railroads. I think it's just as fascinating as the trains themselves.
I also do find short trains just as interesting as the longer, as I like to speculate on the reason for such short trains. That's the thing. There's always a reason for every train. It's just that living in Australia, each video is like looking through a small window and only catching a brief glimpse of a passing parade. And I do love a parade.
Greetings from the Suncoast of Florida USA. I love a parade also... and I love seeing Footy on FoxSports, although the coverage is spotty. They have shown a few more games this year than before, the last one I got was the Brisbane Lions two weeks ago. For some reason, I have grown partial to the Geelong Cats these last two seasons; haven't seen them for a month.
Amazing trains in Ohio,usa...the Best compilation so good!!!!
😱😱😱🇱🇷🚂😍😘💞💕😨♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thank you very much!
Cooooollllll to see long hood forward sd40-2 and how great to listen a little bit a train that cross into the bridge with a air dump😊❤ nice sir jt
I like the street-runners - thanks, Jaw Tooth.
Together with the trains and the pets at Home...a yellow fire engine truck is too amazing,so good!!!!!!
😨😨😨😨📱😍😘💞💕♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thank you very much!
Right after you left the Union Rd. crossing, a southbound CSX train arrived with about a quarter mile of welded rail, fully loaded, followed by mixed freight.
I like ALL kinds of old train stations!! It's great to see old stations that are kept BECAUSE they're train stations!
Good morning I enjoyed that video👍👍
Little trains are still trains and therefore still cool.👍 I love how much you cherish your pets. When I go to Subway for a sandwich I get a chicken sandwich for my dog. Lennon gets treated like a child. He is a blessing.
Thank you very much! I am a big pet lover. Lennon is a cool name for a dog.
Great video JT! Nice catches! Cool shots at the bridge!
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍🇺🇸
Thank you very much!
Nice to see that you’re back at the old stomping grounds rail fanning site jaw tooth 👍👍🤘🤘🤘🤘
The shot of the engine on the bridge - perfect! Spring is for street runners :)
Amazing videos Jaw Tooth keep up the good work
Thank You Jaw Tooth Kool! Best rail fan channel fur shur! A Fan
Wow, thanks!
Great vids Brian! Safe travels !... 🙏👍
Thanks 👍
Another great video, Brian. Funny thing, if you notice at about 8:00 - 8:40, at the bottom, between those two old tracks, a Killdeer is just minding his own business, ignoring both you and the on-coming train. So cute! Marcel from Saskatchewan.
I love living here in Aussie land, but gee man, I tell ya what, if I could live anywhere in the world, it would be Heaton Street in Hamilton, Ohio, USA. Boy, would I be a happy little Vegemite and rail fan indeed! Thanks for the video Jaw Tooth, over and out. Anthony.
Great street running freight great action great video thanks Brian
Thanks Gary!
excellent view of trestle bridge over road.
Many thanks
The shot of the deadhead through the trestle was cool. Great video, enjoyed it immensely. Thanks JT!
Awesome video. I keep thinking that Franklin Ohio must've been fairly busy at one time
That is a neat old station, JT, I love the old steel bridge, too! 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Good Morning all,
I believe that small railroad crossing sign is for the bike path. It was the same size as the stop sign for the bike path.
Thanks for the info
Seemed pretty obvious to me. What I want to know is what is the sign claiming is "Not an Exit?"
You know it makes you wonder how hard it was to pave the streets with the tracks in them like that Brian. I bet it's not an easy job.
That was a good mixed freight going over the bridge. The other small trains were good, too, because all trains are good! It's just that some are better than others. 😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Thank you very much! I agree also
@@JawTooth You're quite welcome, JT.
Street Running Trains are cool!
Awesome video, love street running trains.
Thanks!
The first train in the video (NS SD40-2 #1643 and grain car CEFX 95243) is also the second train in the video. The second train has the 650497 tank car, in addition to the aforementioned loco and grainer. Good video, son!
Yes, I filmed them at the 5 track crossing first and then followed them to the street running track. Thanks for watching!
Mr Jawtooth great video you have my dad said that he likes your video and more content that you put he said he will like every video you upload same here liking everything you have and watching it!
Long ago and far away I ran my own "Hot Shot" rig, one ton dually and a gooseneck trailer!
I had a 24' heavy duty gooseneck custom built instead of the typical 40', which allowed me to haul more weight. I was based out of the Fort Worth/Dallas area, F/W had a Southern Pacific heavy maintenance repair facility. Because of the extra 1000 lbs, I was able to transport the larger "traction motors" for the locomotives. Paid for round trip also, deliver remanufactured one, returned the damaged one. Plus, because it was a dually & goose I was able to go to the site so they could swap motors. Extra money, plus always a tip!
Great men to work with!
Not to mention touring the "Round House" at F/W and seeing locomotives in different stages of repair. "Quicksilver" in the hammer lane, jest a git'n it! Damn I miss those days!🤠
Awesome! I love reading comments like that so thanks and have a great weekend!
Cool video. That is definitely different there. If you get to Hershey Pa.Check out the restored Swatara station there. Cool place to video trains.
Thanks! Will do!
And the flashing lights at the CSX line skip flashes...great video. Been awhile since you've been to Franklin...
I struck out the last time I was there and was blessed this time
Was it legal for the NS train to run that red light? Awesome video. We'll watch it again on Roku TV. Thanks Mr JT, loved it! ❤😊😊
Yes they dont have to stop for them
Thank you for every video JT,Mike in Missouri.
So glad to see a video from you. Was listening to weather reports while checking on sites I visit and watching tornado coverage. Instantly thought about you and Shoestring's friend Matt. Please be safe as there are more for today and tomorrow forecasted. Very interesting video.
The tornados missed my area. Thanks for watching!
Another great video JT and did you notice that SD 40-2 Street Runner had an woman engineer on it but anyway, my friend you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one
Yes I did. Her name is Holly. thanks for watching!
LO❤E your personalized theme music 🎶🎵🎶🎶🎵 👌
Hey jaw tooth lots of live action son. I'd love to live in house on hill by abandon coal co. Hope you and your family and pets stay healthy and safe. Great train action. Have a great railroad day 🚂🙋♀️

Great catches awesome capture and nice video
Thanks Dad we loveum .Good show. Thanks
Great video jawtooth!
Great video tonight that train station is cool, the bridge was awesome in the one video
Thanks 👍
Nice video. Thank you!
Thank you too!
When the Timer reads 7:00. You can Barely see the Signal Lights showing a Yellow over Red. Approach. Not sure if you saw that Jaw tooth. But that's how usually you could tell which train track the train will be arriving on. But then again I'm not sure if that was one set of signal lights or two of them. There's usually two on each side of the tracks.🙂👍❤🚂🚃🚃🚦🚦. Love your Videos. But now I see there's is 2 sets of them. And they are Both Approach. so you're right. That is hard to tell which track the train will be on. Went back and saw the video Jaw Tooth.👍
Great shots.
Many thanks!
That’s cute. One car!
Good Afternoon Jaw Tooth.
Hello there
I counted about 131 cars at Franklin, Ohio.
Nice job catching on trains jaw tooth keep it up, please
Thanks, will do!
Good video Brian
Glad to see you back in my lovely home town of Franklin ohio
Yes, I love filming there if I can catch the train
That’s a great video jaw 👍🏻👍🏻😎 Robin out
Thanks 👍
0:53 SD40-2 + Long-hood Forward + Nathan P5 Horn = Timetravel!
Watching from Sarasota Florida! Learning alot from you! God bless!
Shannon in Jamaica big fan of jawtooth. And all rail fans
That train made a right turn where it says no right turn! LOL!!
lol
Great video JT liked those new angles
Thanks!
The last time I was in this area was back in August 2018 when I was getting ready for graduate school at Miami University. Would love to see some street running here in person someday.
When you see the local get onto the Franklin Sub drive across the river and turn your scanner on. Sometimes they use 160.980 and sometimes 160.800 on the industrial spur. They don't always go over the bridge and down the street when they are on the spur because they work the other customer more. You should try to catch them.
Great video again today, JT! I'm glad Brandi got into the video today. I've missed her! What is your horse's name? Thank you for the entertainment. It was fun! 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤
His name is Baby.
@@JawTooth Thank you 😊.
I don't know how a train can get any shorter...lots of very short trains today!
Street running is my favorite
Me too. I have a few more that I want to film
Howdy JT! I need me an old fire truck to play around with... just not a yellow one lol! Nice catches and thanks for sharing 🤠
Big trains, small trains. There is always more! too bad that isn’t a main line that goes thru Franklin! Full size trains would really be assume!
Another great video Brian love seeing the street running trains....... Question the two siding tracks near the power plant do you know the dates when those were rolled? Just curious
This is really awesome with some street running trains in
Franklin Ohio with Norfolk Southern and watching the
trains on the trestle really nice, i really like seeing this area
another great day of trains with the amazing live action pets
Chessie, Loki, Brandi and Norfy and the slides of the trains
always a wonderful video of trains thank you Iaw Tooth.
🇺🇲🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲
Thank you very much!
Use to see that every few days when Logan Long Paper was at the south end of Franklin.
Cool!
Cool bring at Miamisburg!
Thanks for watching!
Engineer to traffic cop: “You’re giving me a ticket? Well just stick it on the hood”. Btw. That station looks nicely preserved, but if I were parking near the tracks in front of it, really want to make sure my bumper isn’t sticking out too close to the tracks.
Something different cool 😎 !
Thanks for watching!
WOW! Be nice to do "Milk" runs in a locomotive! Thanks for the train ride!
Thanks for watching
I hope you didn't get any severe weather yesterday
So much industry went away,,power plant should still be running,,sooner or later we will realize the mistakes…😊
We've got five more months to do that...but 100K in NJ is a good sign.
Nice angle for the big trestle! There were some cars on that train I haven't seen before. They looked kind of like a coil car but big & square. One was on the very end of that train. What are they?
The new coil cars have squared lids. Not sure why though
Awesome 👍
Thanks 🤗
Happy birthday Buzz!
Brian, I was curious as to why there are street running tracks in many of these smaller towns. Was it to service industry and as the town grew they incorporated streets along the tracks? Cool video as always. God bless and many thanks for your awesome channel.
😅nice short trains video, lol,😅wel buy the fire fichter truck, cool to have 1.😅 greetz:🍐Peer.😅👍👍👍👍
I would like to have that fire truck. I would paint my channel name on it and drive it around. I had a good friend who owned his own fire truck and he took it to parades. We had fun with it
Blew the Stop sign too!!!
Yup lol
Nice video jaw tooth
watching from Quakertown, Pennsylvania USA
@pnuttheclownh2254 hey, how are you doing.
@@LisbonRailProductionsandF1 i want to see Dayton and Xenia Ohio trains too.
@@pnuttheclownh2254 i like trains in the USA, they are amazing.
@@pnuttheclownh2254 and the trains in the USA are very different from my country: Portugal.
Jt you should have went to the end of the line at Franklin yard. There's 25 or more covered hoppers in storage on two tracks there
Wow, that many? why are there so many over there? Its a little difficult to get there
HI JAW KE4RDK I HAD TURN 75 ON9/23/48 KEEP THOSE VIDEOS COMING
Man some of those tacks really have some waves in them
Yes, they are very old and getting worn out
