Didn’t think I would cry watching this...lost my dad 4 years ago and aunt 12 years ago. Dad took me to see nomo pitch here watched jefferies hit for the cycle that night...aunt took me to see sosa hit 2 hrs the year of the “hr race” and just like that the building doesn’t exist anymore...yes it was more than concrete and steel...childhood memories were made at that place....thank you for uploading
I only wish that when it came to stadium replacement we would do it because we NEEDED to rather than because we WANTED to. If they had put half the cost of a new stadium into the Vet, they could've had a first-rate venue with the revenue-generating things ownership wanted, like special super boxes. The Cubs proved you can do wonders with the building you have. No need to be wasteful and build a whole new stadium. As Larry Bowa said the first time he saw The Vet, "It looked like a palace!" I enjoyed every visit there myself. Later, when I went to "The Bank", it just seemed unfinished. Much of the structure looked like scaffolding. Very skeletal looking. The Vet may have been a concrete canyon, but it sure didn't look like it was gonna break anytime soon. I know a guy who has been to Phillies games at Connie Mack, The Vet and The Bank. He said The Vet was the best of the three.
I was a majorette in the Temple University Diamond Marching Band. We were excited and honored to perform in the pre-game at the 1983 Phillies World Series (um...Baltimore won that year). We also performed a half-time show every year at an Eagles game. The Vet was home to all Temple football games at that time. The only celebs I remember seeing there were Howard Cosell and Don Rickles.
I remember getting a DVD copy of Veterans Stadium the final innings at Spectrum Field in Clearwater during a Spring Training game in 2007 for the Philadelphia Phillies
Anyone notice how happy Chris Wheeler looked when he was working with Andy Musser that day that was when they were deep into the feud with Harry Kalas and the two never talked off camera
Harry’s voice was covered in chocolate. HE was the best. I’m sorry Vin scully and Jack Buck and a few who lived in La and Ny who were more famous but this guy was the top of the heap. That’s why NFL films chose him, to replace Facenda.

Just sad to those we have lost over the years. Dallas, Darrin, Paul, Josh, Andy, Harry, Ruben Sr, Danny, Jim and list goes on.
The Vet was a craphole, but it was our craphole!

Was there with my dad when there was ten games left. 3rd base side, 9 rows up.
Bowa had the first hit ever at the Vet
I LOVE VET STADIUM MEGAN AND I USED TO WATCH THE PHILLIES PLAY
Why no Steve Carlton?
My man Harry Kalas also Richie Ashburn plus Andy Musser & Tim McCarver
Best ever. Made watching or listening to games fun when I was kid.
1:19:09 Not a dry eye in a damn stadium that day!
Phillies - One Championship in 33 years
Eagles - Zero Championships in 32 years
One Championship in a total 65 seasons. That is horrible.
