Lots of great memories here - not only from a team perspective, but also from a family perspective - for those who attended games with family and friend before the implosion. RIP Veterans Stadium.
Veterans Stadium might have been a dump, but it was one of the greatest things that has ever happened for the Eagles. In terms of the fan atmosphere, it was better than the Linc.
Hard to believe if the veterans stadium was standing today, it would be 50 years old! Watching this video of the implosion is bringing memories to me! I have seen two games there, one of each sport, football, eagles & baseball Phillies!
The American way.... The Roman Coliseum is "obsolete" yet still stands. Veterans Stadium, Texas Stadium, RFK Stadium, Jack Murphy Stadium, Fulton County Stadium, The Orange Bowl, all gone......
I remember they shut down 95 that day for the implosion. Me and my uncle and a few thousand of our closest friends piled onto the highway to watch our monstrosity come down
She'll be missed. Great memories. Superbowl 52 was for you too vet. The liberty Bell was great glad they added that to citizens Bank park. 700 level will live forever
A year from now RFK Stadium (Which has stood the test of time) will finally join the Vet, Three Rivers, River Front, Metro Dome, Candle Stick, Foxborough, Giants Stadium, Memorial Stadium, etc (NTM RFK opened well before all of the stadiums I mentioned with the exception of Memorial plus Candle Stick)
I witnessed some exciting and great things at the Vet but I can't honestly say I was heartbroken when it came toppling down as the place was a dump in it's final years. The Spectrum was another story...loved the place.
Is there anybody reading these comments because I’ve came to this place as a 5 year old up until I was then a teenager because I remember watching The Phillies play there over the years and I remember The Army / Navy Football games played there too & I really hate to see it go since we have much bigger arenas in the spot where this stadium once stood .
I was in the 700 level for many Eagles games…you came out with bruises and hugs and Phillies Dutch Daulton hit a ball just beyond my reach lol…not to mention U2 and Primus with the Yugo’s for lighting
I often wonder how many people were there for the implosion who were there hen the vet was officially dedicated before the first game. To them it must have seemed like only the week before the implosion was when the dedication and first Phillies game took place. It must have been especially a sad occasion for them.
Building a ballpark on top of the 30th St Station railyard, facing the growing skyline, would have been just MAGICAL .. I hate that that proposal was not brought to fruition 😒
That was a terrible idea. University City can barely handle a crowd of 8000 people at the Palestra for a big 5 game let alone a 50,000 seat stadium next to an under built overused Schuylkill expressway. Center City is the 3rd biggest downtown district in America after Manhatten and Chicago. Those cities don't have dow town stadiums either for a reason. Baltimore and Pittsburgh are much smaller so it's feasible there.
And they have demolished a beautiful stadium like Veteran's for replace it whit that horrible Lincoln Field!??? that's crazy! It's this progress?? I don't understand.
That Eagles won a championship at the Vet's predecessor Franklin Field, and one so far at the Linc its successor. Yet not one in the Vet, seems like that place was cursed. At least for the Eagles. The Phillies won a world series there in 1980 that's about it.
was nice to see PHI Eagles have a good run in the early 2000s and won a Playoff game at the VET in 2000, 2001, and 2002 seasons..🟩🏈🏟The Eagles bashed the Bucs in the Playoffs in 2000 and 2001..2002 NFC Championship game was a different story..Bucs erased the Eagles..
Thank God, they didn't give Luzinski the plunger to hold as he would have dropped it like that last out fly ball in the 1977 Playoffs with The Dodgers. The Phil's lost the game and Playoff Series.
My first football game (meh) The first baseball game I ever remember (meh) My first JW "assembly" as a "non believer" My first real stadium rock concert. Pink Floyd Division Bell Why are they cheering?
Because the stadium is a piece of garbage. The turf was terrible, ending Michael Irvin‘s career. The fans were so bad that they had to have a jail cell IN the stadium.
This was a cool place. Of course they had to tear it down to replace with ....... nothing. Rip Veterans stadium. I hope the imbeciles who took it down are happy.
People complain about the Trop in Tampa Bay and Olympic Stadium in Montreal. Veterans Stadium was right up there as a dump, like most multi-use stadiums built in the 1970's.
Keep the victims in your heart I'm not a philly fan but i wouldn't wish this traegedy on any body. i don't say it to much but in memory of the fans that died go flyers!
Cadet Arthur there were no victims in this....or you are talking with supreme irony and sarcasm...if so i know what u mean. Then again, alot of rats must have perished in this demolition. Anyway, Philly needed new venues for the teams, the vet was a shithole, full if memories and eagles court, but falling down on peoples heads and it smelled llike piss.
They got rid of it because of the true religion, was worshipping there once a year. Wake up people... this whole system going down, just like the stadium. 💯💥🤯🥵 🔥 🔥
33 seasons Phillies and 32 season Eagles and only one championship. Thats one for sixty five. What a losing ballpark. The worst of all time. The rats deserve better.
My 1st & ONLY time I was there was back in 1994, I was 13 then. With my dad & my cousins & uncles. Phillies vs Astros. I think my dad won some tickets from a Phillies trivia off a radio show. The phanatic rode right behind us on his 4-wheeler in the 7th inning stretch. Right when the game was over, as we walked out to the cars, someone gave my uncle like 20 FREE t-shirts & like 10 free hats!!!! NO LIE!!!!😳😲 we thought they were stolen. Lol idk how?🤔🤷🏻♂️ but we took advantage of it, took the shirts & hats & left & went home. 🙂🙂 I'll NEVER forget about that day. -THATS MY VET STORY!!!⚾️🏟
15 years ago today. RIP. It was a dump, but it was OUR dump.
*Soviet Anthem starts playing*

David C and phillies
Add the Bucs
The Vet was terrible. The playing surface was the worst in all of sports.
A minute after I watched the implosion on t.v. I could hear it all the way in NJ
The dust went to Rexy's for a beer.
It was a piece of Philly history. I watched many baseball games with my Dad in that stadium... Great Times!!
The Phillie Phanatic cheering the demolition is the best thing I've ever seen
Hard to believe if the veterans stadium was standing today, it would be 50 years old! Watching this video of the implosion is bringing memories to me! I have seen two games there, one of each sport, football, eagles & baseball Phillies!
I remember watching this from my backyard when I was like 10
20 years ago today, this happened. RIP Vet. Thank you for the magic and memories.
I was in tears when the Vet imploded.
Saw Steve Carlton win number 20…in 1976 with my Dad
The American way.... The Roman Coliseum is "obsolete" yet still stands. Veterans Stadium, Texas Stadium, RFK Stadium, Jack Murphy Stadium, Fulton County Stadium, The Orange Bowl, all gone......
THE VET IS GONE BUT MY MEMORIES WILL LIVE FOREVER!
It was a sad day for all the rats who lived there and suddenly became homeless.
+Ben Miller Look on the bright side! I see no 9/11 cockroaches in the comments section :)
Did you ever end up finding a new home?
They probably died
I think they just died
I have very found memories of going to the Vet multiple times with my parents and miss it to this

RFK still stands as of today
RFK Stadium still stands in April 2024.
I remember seeing g his on t.v to think just 4 years later the phils would win it all.
too bad eagles lost their last game at the vet by a walk off pick-6 in the NFC Championship game smfh
shut the vet down! no more vet!
DisownKaos rhonde barber
that's ok super bowl champs now. bucs haven't won since
It wasn't a "walk-off" but rather more like the game clinching pick-6.
One last plunder.
R.I.P. Veterans stadium
I witnessed some exciting and great things at the Vet but I can't honestly say I was heartbroken when it came toppling down as the place was a dump in it's final years. The Spectrum was another story...loved the place.
THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES, VET I SHALL NEVER FORGET TUESDAY, OCTOBER 21,1980 AT 11:29 P.M.
I remember watching this live. I was also lucky enough to be in attendance at the stadium’s final Phillies game in 2003.
They keep showing the Spectrum and talking about it, a few years later that would be gone also
Fun fact: Adam Fredrick Goldberg Was Right There With His Father
Yup I know. The show is sooooo underrated.
This is literally how I knew this beautiful part, as well as history...Thank you Adam Goldberg!👍😁👌⚾️
33 baseball seasons and 32 football seasons and only one World Series win in 65 seasons. The place couldn't be imploded fast enough.
AND SHOULD NOT BE REBUILT , NEVER , AT TAXPAYER EXPENSE
Breaks my heart to this day...
I almost cried RIP Veterans Stadium 1973-2004 you are missed
It's beautiful seeing the stadium get torn down after we whip your asses in the NFC championship 😂
15 years ago today. Was a sad morning.
I was born on this exact day 13 years ago!
I bet Gruden and the Bucs at the time felt great when this happened.

It was demolished on my birthday
I watched it being built when I lived on the corned of 20th and Pattison. Went and saw lots of Phillies games with Dad.
The courtroom also goes into a heap of dust. Yes, don't forget the courtroom they had especially in that stadium.
Somewhere out in that crowd stood Adam F. Goldberg
As bad as it was, I miss it. Went to one of the last games there, and one of the first games are Citizens. The vet just had a classic feel to it.
stupid Mayor Street . . . couldn't even do a countdown properly.
Warblerab 295 mmmmm hmmmm....that man did Philly no good whatsoever!
They showed this on an episode of the Goldbergs. Adam and his dad Murray were both at the ceremony.
I remember just getting home from a standby detail for my fire company when the implosion happened
ahaha phillie phanatic look so excited about that
xpto41 like: finat we dont share stadium with eagles
"KING" Of Kings Gaming both teams suck
Sad sad day!
I remember the Linc being built n driving past it to NJ but I don’t remember seeing the vet with my own eyes
I'm sorry but that is absolutely jacked up!! I grew up there
I grew up there, what a masterpiece
I often wonder how many people were there for the implosion who were there hen the vet was officially dedicated before the first game. To them it must have seemed like only the week before the implosion was when the dedication and first Phillies game took place. It must have been especially a sad occasion for them.
What a sad day in Philly history

2004 and looks like it was filmed in 1812
Life span of the stadium was 33 years, lots of masonic rituals in baseball
The Philadelphia Eagles has won the Super Bowl and they did it for Veterans Stadium. #FlyEaglesFly
i miss this stadium!!
somebody knows what there doing , great engineering
Seen a lot of Phillies/ expos games there .
🤔 where's the uncut version of the implosion where you heard the fuck you being yelled out??
And they have demolished a beautiful stadium like Veteran's for replace it whit that horrible Lincoln Field!??? that's crazy! It's this progress?? I don't understand.
I agree it makes no sense just lk,like, blowing up the Sears Tower in Northeast Philly when they could of been Million dollar condos now.
That Eagles won a championship at the Vet's predecessor Franklin Field, and one so far at the Linc its successor. Yet not one in the Vet, seems like that place was cursed. At least for the Eagles. The Phillies won a world series there in 1980 that's about it.
I hated seeing the Vet and the Sears Tower in Northeast Philly come down 🤬
19 years ago today
I spent a better part of my childhood was in that stadium. Spent many days at my Jehovah’s Witnesses convention from the time I was 3 weeks old.
Cheese steak and a beer please.Thank you.
And a steamy shit
Philly cheese steak.
Anywhere else you say that, you will get a ribeye with cheese on it.
A great day in Philadelphia when they dropped that dump
great memories
What's on the site now?
Parking lot and you’ll find the old team plaques there
Was that where Randall Cunningham played
Yes indeed
WASTED TAX PAYER DOLLAR'S
The stupid part was why they did not make a dome for the possibility of future Superbowls?
Eagles fans are too tough for a domed stadium.
Domes suck. Football is an open air sport

Why did they destroyed it?
+Erika Martin Follow the money

The Phillies and Eagles both got new stadiums. This site would become a parking lot for the sports complex.
Wowzers lol the phanatic
