This is a treasure. Thank you for filming & sharing. I really appreciate how you went around the stadium for shots. I know too well all the negativity about the Vet, but I loved it. So many great memories there. The place had character.
My father was at the last game at Connie Mack Stadium and at the first game at the Vet. If he were alive then, I'm almost positive he would've been at the last game at the Vet. Good times at that place. Thanks😊
I wish I was able to experience the Vet. I was born in July, 2003. Seems like such a different experience than CBP. The history is awesome, but I am grateful to have grown up with CBP, and I truly believe it is a top 3 ballpark in the mlb
Thank you for sharing this. So many great memories in that place...yes, and some we'd rather forget. My first visit was the final game of the '71 season, the year the Vet opened. My dad took my brother and myself and we sat in the 700 level. I think we each got in for like 50 cents or something. I remember being completely blown away as I walked out of the concourse and into the seats and saw that ocean of green open up in front of me. It was so far beyond what I used to see on TV! I've lived in Missouri for the past 17 years but will ALWAYS love my Phils and Eagles!!!
Kevin, It was awesome to hear from you here! It was my Stadium as well growing up. It was awesome to walk out to the field! I will have a film up in a week or 2 from 1975 when I went on the field for batting practice
I'm really glad you took this video. I was born near Philly, but live in NC and I kept my love for the Philly teams and sadly never got to see a game at the Vet. Thanks for uploading!
I was there in Section 330, Row 13, Seat 15 as a guest of Phillies PR VP Larry Shenk, because of my AshburnStadium banner, which had a 9-2 record when I flew it in 2003, including the "Hurricane Game" in September.
Loved going here as a NY Giants fan for Eagles Giants games! Wore Blue Everytime and took it and gave it back! Great times especially when the Giants won! No better feeling walking out in silence! Go Blue 💪💪💪
Aww man I remember my first game in that stadium those were good times I miss the old place. I went to the game the day before this game I cried all the way home lol
Great upload! Wow, I still miss this place, watching you all walk up the ramps, it feels like yesterday I was doing that heading to an Eagles or Phillies game with my dad. Lot of great memories with him and The Vet. I was at the final night game..thankfully a friend had an extra ticket, the tickets for this final day were all sold out months ahead. But I did see it on TV. Pretty emotional, especially when Tug McGraw came out...not a dry eye in the seats (I imagine)
ScrappleCheesesteaks i dont miss it....the view n the atmosphere is so much better at Citizens and Lincoln!!! To each his own though, best was the Rolling Stones in 94,
Cool vid. My dad took me and my sisters to the vet in 03 but I was only 4 years old. I only have a super vague memory of the place. Really cool to see what the ol donut actually looked like inside
at 6:05 when you hear dan baker's voice and you see that view from behind home plate, it gave me chills. i remember being at the vet. last game i ever saw there was a 13-9 redsox extra innings win on 9/1/03. Trot nixon hit a grand slam and i was pissed. it was originally supposed to be a june game but the weather pushed it off. when i'm at the new place, i feel like it represents philadelphia. but when i was at the vet, it felt like home. i miss the vet.
That "eyesore" brought the Phillies a World Series title. Comcast executives bought into the "Curse of Billy Penn," and put a small statuette on top of their new building in 2007. The Phils won it all the following year!
i agree. i miss the old vet. it was loud and so huge. great video! ahh the memories. the old charge, the great waves we got going. wow takes me back. the vet stood so tall as you walked up on it, i always wondered how high the roof was in feet?
Greg Maddux STILL starting for Atlanta here that's cool. Favorite memory here was New Year's Eve 2000 - Tampa Bay Bucs vs Eagles NFC wild card game. I was 17 with cousins and their 2 best friends. Tickets weren't very expensive and we sat right behind Warrick Dunn's family, 30 yard line 3rd row visitors sideline. What a fuckin game. That 4th quarter td from McNabb to Na Brown to go up 2 scores and sew up the game was one of the loudest most thunderous I've ever heard a stadium. A few Arrowhead games were obviously louder but what a game!
The true baseball fan will never forget the all but forgotten cookie cutter stadium and the grass infield between bases, I'd 1,000,000 times over have grass in between bases over dirt
Your reference to the 700 level's rowdiness, at least you could take your kids to sit there for a Phillies game. For the Iggles that's when it was most notorious/dangerous..
There could never be a picture of Connie Mack Stadium on the last day as the wrecking crew was already taking it apart looking for their own specialized momentos.
My dad was there once he said it was the ugliest stadium he ever went to but last month I was at the citizens bank park now that stadium was amazing August 2012 u could see the game great from ever seat at veterans u couldn't see shit it was terrible everywhere u sat u couldn't see the ball game when I went to citizens bank park I saw the mets take on the phillies I'm a mets fan
no its a dump the seats were messy the field was messy the turf was hard and there were holes in walls lmafo its disgusting and they had to suffer there for 30 years
Worst stadium ever. Had fun there. But it was horrible to see games in. Some of those seats you couldn’t see anything really. And no big screens for most of the games. Scaled the wall an fence quite a few times
What a dump. 33 years of Phillies and 32 years of Eagles and only win was 1980 Phillies World Series. One out of 65 seasons. The place was the epitome of Loserdom.
Well they started to get good that year, and when their core began to form. That of which would eventually win them a World Series five years later, while being annual contenders for a few seasons after. But now they sure suck again, and haven't been relevant for a long while too!
It's like going back in time to when I was a kid growing up in the 70's. Thank you so much for making this video.
This is Philadelphia sports history captured ,Thankyou to the family
Glad you liked it
For people that don’t know, even though the stadium is gone the plates and still here. I’m typing this while sitting on home plate.

I could smell it still as soon as I saw it. Best home field advantage ever!

I remember that game. Ricky Ledee hit a homerun in the 8th and then the Phillies lost it in the 9th with that grand slam. So funny...Good times.
Lady at 6:04 rockin' the rare Jimmy Rollins #6! This vid should be in a museum. Outstanding.
B Kelly Rollins was a fantastic player...tight team back then.
Great vid !! Seriously felt like I was there again for moment. Awesome
Glad you liked it! I loved going to that place growing up as a kid
Seeing Harry again broke my heart.
Great video!
2:24 Beautiful Philadelphia skyline before that eyesore comcast building was built!

I was at that game; still have the framed ticket. Nostalgic 🙏🏼

Greg Maddux faced the Phillies in the 2008 NLCS as a Dodger.
Out of the bullpen, though
I know this is special to Philly fans just like the last game at Memeorial Stadium in Baltimore was to me...Alot of memories
And just 5 Short years later a World Series title would be celebrated in that Roller Coaster looking structure we know call Citizens bank park
????
The true baseball fan will never forget the all but forgotten cookie cutter stadium and the grass infield between bases, I'd 1,000,000 times over have grass in between bases over dirt

Gone are the days of beloved soul crushing donuts.

Too bad they tear down this beautiful stadium. Just like old Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego that I knew well. Sad
This place was a dump, and outdated
lost the game that day
5-2 Squaws.
The farthest seat from home plate?
I remember my dad taking me to one of the last few games. They had a guy on a hang glider and I remember we were right by the platform he jumped from.
That was walking up to the 700 level where the really rowdy fans sat. It was crazy up there
Channel 19 ....yes...the nuts always wound up in the upper levels...it was like ticketron n other vendors knew where to put them.
700 Level was awesome during Eagles games. It was its own County with its own rules
Whats the name of the song 4:01 i heard it before just couldn't figure the name of the song.
The Who "Baba O'Reilly"
@@sterlingtv19 Thanks
Does the baby in the video now like the Phillies?
That baby is now old enough to vote. Today is Christmas 2021. Merry Christmas!
what do u mean (@ 2:03)???
I mean these are the worst stadiums for a baseball game...it looks like your watching it from an airplane hahaha but I do miss that place
I still don't understand WHY !
I know, I know it's all about the money by the one's who have it. The regular people don't matter.
Why would they destroy to stadium?
+Erika Martin Because it was no longer needed, and had to put space for more parking for the new stadiums. Happens all the time, sadly.
because it was a dump
the place might've been a dump, but its one of the greatest things that has ever happened for the eagles.
no its a dump the seats were messy the field was messy the turf was hard and there were holes in walls lmafo its disgusting and they had to suffer there for 30 years
from what I heard players would easily peep cheerleaders getting naked because the walls were so bad.

It was filmed on Sept 28, 2003
@@sterlingtv19 and imploded in October right

Yeah, and such a total shithole for that matter too! (L.O.L.!)
Phillies SUCKED back then.
They still suck with just two World Series wins in 140 years and a MLB high 11,000 losses.
Well they started to get good that year, and when their core began to form. That of which would eventually win them a World Series five years later, while being annual contenders for a few seasons after. But now they sure suck again, and haven't been relevant for a long while too!
