I love the nostalgia of the Nokia 808 but the results are dark and "solid" looking (meaning lack of detail). The iPhone has different processing but it does have an arguably better sensor than the old 808.
@@leroilightning4458 I don't think so. The 808 seemed more detailed to me compared to the iPhone's over sharpened image. The contrast is also better on the 808 which makes it look cinematic with better colour grading than the Iphone. In most of the dark shots you can see the over processing that tries to cram details the sensor can barely make out. Overal the 808 behaves like a camera and the iPhone behaves like an iPhone. Nothing good looking it just needs to be serviceable in most situations. So in terms of camera usability and quality the 808 is just better. Better detail, close to no processing so no ever sharpening which looks horrible and better contrast which gives it that cinematic look.
There is no artificial intelligence in the Nokia 808. Photo shoots made in automatic settings. With hardware only and one camera. Night shots would have been better if the 808 had been fine-tuned using the Camera Pro app. We thank you.
I'm seeing various HDR reels on Instagram and, to be honest, it's kind of annoying seeing regular reels followed by overly-bright reels and back again.
Ν808 photos are memories. Old-school Vibrant Iphone are magazine glossy. Modern Sharpness/saturation. To each their own.But the feel of the N808 images cannot be replicated. Thank you for the video and the excellent music, every time.
The Nokia misses the now days photography process, even so it's a stunning phone and photography reference, thinking its a 2012 device. What grate devices Nokia are! Grate video!
Excellent review. This further cements my belief that while the modern up to date phone are nice ones with the right tech behind them like 808 absolutely can hold their own.

Even though I like natural colours and sharpness, I think the default values on the Nokia 808 are just too muted and conservative. On mine I bump up saturation by +1 and sharpness by +2 and the results are much more to my liking.
TBH if this was blind test, I would pick 808 every time. It just looks more true to life, something that belongs on old school magazine instead of social media.
We miss you Just as everything for 10 years after the 808 was worse, current releases are worse than sensors from 3-4 years ago. The 808 is beating things being released now. Come on back friend.
Hoping to see you to compare iPhone 14 Pro’s camera with Lumia 950 XL. It seems the Lumia still have some good edges to go against the iPhone 14 Pro’s camera. You may compare with the Lumia’s 18MP RAW against iPhone 14’s 48MP ProRAW.
The Lumia will win on distortion (it hasn't), corner sharpness, flare, and most noticable: macro. The fake bokeh output of the 13mm lens on the 14 Pro Max for macro is obnoxious.
@@lovemadeinjapan ? That's probably just an effect of changing the focus to be that close. At minimal distance You get a small area of focus right in the middle and around it blurs fast. I had one of those lumias once and wasn't as impressed as I was hoping
@@RennieAsh The iPhone makes a macro shot with a 13mm equivalent lens, that has a very deep sharpness depth, not blurring the background like a normal macro lens would do. So they apply an effect to achieve something similar. The 950XL makes the shot with the 26mm lens, and the natural sharpness depth is rougly 1/4rd and has background blur by nature. What is also annoying on the iPhone is that because the angle is so wide, there are way more objects in the background. Even a 26mm is not good for this, but again, it has 1/4rd the background objects. My 85mm full frame macro has only 2% of the background objects compared to the iPhone as the background cone is so much smaller.
Personally, I love the 808. The photos comes out natural, no quality modification, no ultra processing. Every thing is produced beautifully, albeit with a bit of contrast, but that is what I appreciated. Sadly, I've been looking all over the internet for the 808 but to no avail. I guess it will be just my dream wanting an antique phone at this age.
Crazy to see the 808 hold up so well. The iPhone looks to have better dynamic range, sharper images, and low light completely blows the 808 out of the water but that’s to be expected. Having said that, something about how natural the photos from the 808 look just feels right. It would’ve been nice to see it updated with better dynamic range and OIS. Sadly there will probably never be another Pureview giant. HMD really let me down
I would like to see more comparisons of iPhone 14 ProRAW’s 48MP against the Nokia 808’s 38MP RAW. Quite impressed with the details on the iPhone 14’s 48MP on ProRaw. Seems like the purity of the latest iPhone is about to reach the old Nokia/Lumia’s standard.
@@culacgiontan7680 perhaps due to the masses love already enhanced photos albeit of the purity concept that should be considered here. People nowadays love oversaturated and over-sharpened photos as they look popping on the screen. Can’t blame them though.

The camera feature of Nokia phones was amazing at that time. Not only this, but the cameras of Nokia phones at that time offered digital photos and digital micro-zoom details. Today's phones don't offer zoom details, so photos get torn up when zoomed. Nokia will always be the best, thank you

I had a 1020 and still prefer it's images to every phone since. Miss that phone. Edit, now I am thinking...One of my favorite things to do was to set it on a stand and just let that aperture say open at night for like 5-15 seconds. I miss it so much .
Hi I need help... I have nokia 808. I didn't use it long time. Today I want to take same picture whit it but When I turn on the phone, the following text constantly appears on the screen........ Disk error, cannot complete write retry or data will be lost........... This warning never goes away from the screen, I can't use the menu... How long can Nokia Lumia 1020 record video? I think its internal storage of 32,64 is too little for a 41 megapixel camera? Will the memory fill up with a few photos and a short video? Please reply because I want to order it from a seller's website and I could not make a decision because of the memory. I still have my Lumia 1020 and camera grip, unless you really really want one you should buy something else. It "only" records up to 1080p30 so you should get some decent recording time but battery life on such old devices will be your limiter

Awesome comp, a lot of work, thanks for that 🙂 By day i still like the more realistic colors and reflections of 808. When it gets dark, the point goes most of the time to Iphone. I wish we could get back the RGB Bayer Sensors from Nokia. Xperia still uses them but smaller and less pixels. The quad Bayer from all other Manufacturers are onle good for darkness and fast HDR but looks everytime overprocessed and unnatural.
Did you post it truly with out heavy editing first? I use Samsung and pixel phone, but i kinda suspect that you added heavy editing like over sharpening to iphone results in return to make Nokia's results seem better and more natural . Are you truly being fair?
I don’t think he was cheating. We know that the current/latest iPhones are known for their aggressive AI processing towards sharpness, exposure, HDR etc. Even my old iPhone XS Max produced some over-sharpened photos than my Microsoft Lumia 950 XL. Hope this clarifies the issue.

С таким модулем, думаю это бы была просто бомба. 1520 на wp10 мне показалась более практичной, как и 950. сьемка в 4k лучше любого айфон. цветопередача лучшая. Im so in love with 808's, the way it did the shadow, the colors seems not made up. I wish i had one before.

It's not crazy. It's the incredible difference it had back then in sensor size.
