  • Lyrics:
    I'll tell you now
And I won't tell you twice
    Where, when, and how
    I got some bad advice

I never thought I could handle
    A girl with guns
    And let me tell ya
You can bet that I'm not the only one (oh no...)

    Stand tall, don't think small
Don't get your back against the wall
    Shoot straight, I can't wait
Aim for the heart and fire away (No! )

    I've come around
    I understand today
    She's the target now
    I'm gonna have my way

    Everybody says,
"Don't go messing with a girl with guns"
    They don't need you
    They couldn't love you
They couldn't be any fun (Noooo)
    Stand tall, don't think small
Don't get your back against the wall
    Shoot straight, don't wait
    To Fire away...
    An innocent bystander
Who forgets to look both ways
Who never tries to understand her
Won't feel the heat 'til it's too late (So I tell you)

    Stand tall, don't think small
Don't get your back against the wall
    Shoot straight, don't wait
To fire away (no, no, no)

    Stand tall, don't think small
Don't get your back against the wall (aaahhh...)
    Shoot straight, I can't wait
Aim for the heart and fire away (uhhhhh...)

    Stand tall, don't think small
Don't get your back against the wall (I'll tell ya')
    Shoot straight, Don't wait
    To fire... away...
    (All right! )

    (Give it to me! )

    (Come on! )

    (Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh... ! )

    (Eeeeeeeeheeeeeeeeeeee...)

It wasn't Styx's idea to not do press releases/interviews. That was their old manager Derek Sutton. He did it because the press had always been so disrespectful to the band.
Unfortunately not doing interviews and such, pissed off some very important people in the music industry back in the 70's. One of them being a man named Jann Wenner, who still has a lot of sway in the RRHOF. That's why Styx hasn't been inducted. Wenner despises the band...

This song was used in the first season Miami Vice episode "The Glades" for the scene of Crockett and Tubbs in the black Ferrari cruising through the Everglades on the Tamiami Trail. And when they arrive at their destination in the Glades, they indeed meet up with a girl with a gun, so the song was quite appropriate!

33 years ago I used to roller skate to this at the rink with actual skates because roller blades hadn't even been invented yet.

Connie Bauer roller blades have been around since the mid 70s. I had a pair for dry land hockey training in 1977 and they had been around a while then. Both Bauer and Winn-Well made them.

Just saw this young fella last Thursday. Still adorable. I remember when they first played this video, I went flying across the room to go sit in front of the tv. I always wanted to be Mrs Tommy Shaw. I outgrew him and never met him, so that's not happening. I'm like Godzilla compared to him. Oh well.
