Thank you, Jenny, for making quilting so much fun! And especially, thank you for not being perfect! It gives all of us permission to play and not be perfect ourselves!
Thank you for taking your time to do these tutorials for us. You probably don't know exactly how much we enjoy them. You've been quilting for a long time but still have such enthusiasm for it.
I just love to watch your videos. I find that I am looking at quilts with a new eye and breaking down the blocks which I have never been able to do before. I finally had to start keeping a book with all of my pre-cuts listed with notes beside them of which quilt I watching when I ordered them so I can remember what I was going to do with them. If my husband actually saw by stash I would be hard pressed to explain it. :)
I'm a novice quilter and I LOVE your videos. Even if I don't intend on making a certain quilt pattern, (I like this one) I watch every week because you can learn so much! I've bought a MQSC ruler and templates from a Canadian company; thanks for thinking of us!
Jenny I really love to watch your tutorials you have such a happy bright attitude and then you make this beautiful quilts I watch along and I figure out what you're doing and then I've been trying to take make some of my own that way and they're coming out just great thanks so much for being there really appreciate you Juanita
Thank you so much Jenny, you really really do come up with such stunning and gorgeous blocks. That quilt is gorgeous too. Stay safe and well too xxx Mags
Oh Wow! I love this! And it doesn't take much fabric and makes a nice size quilt! Love the fact that it uses two different quilt patterns together (HST and Log cabin) also! Thanks Jenny! I am going to make this one next (x2) for Christmas presents!
This is awesome, Jenny! I can't tell you how much I love your videos. Perfect for everyone for a beginner to expert. These videos always get me thinking and inspired
Thank you Jenny for all yr explainations and tutorials that make me so inspired and sometimes difficult for me to sleep. Just cannot resist them all. Wish you all the best and have a beautiful and great life ahead. I am from Malaysia!
Love this! Thank you for another video! Right now Im making home is where the haunt is and Thank goodness for your tutorials on it! Im a visual learner and its so nice having the tutorials to go with the patterns!
I have scrap half-sq triangle blocks from a previous project. Going to use them and a jelly roll to try this! I'm excited to try a log cabin block 😄 Thank-you!!!
I've been looking for a pattern to use to do a reds, naturals and blues scrap quilt for my grandson. Perfect!! I can't wait to get started, thanks for another wonderful, easy to do quilt pattern.
love this block , and yeah , i know how you sew . that is why i love your videos . you are so real . you're a wonderful teacher . I'm much older than you and you have taught me many things . thank you very much . someday i hope to visit your store . i live in indiana , a little south east of indianapolis . it would be a good day trip for my daughter and me . till then , I'll be watching your tutorials.
I love it! This looks like something even I can do. I've been using up scraps and saving bits. This is something that could be done on any scale to surround those saved triangles. I've got hst's sewn and saved, plus tiny 1 inch triangles saved from making binding. This is exciting, thank you.
I love the quilt. You make sewing quilts easy and fun. I look forward to your weekly videos and have learned so much! This is an easy block and I love how you laid it out. Please keep them coming!👍😀
like this one. It looks more complicated than it is. Must remember to start with triangle and build with logs to create block. Great way to get a colourful cloth! Thanks Jenny... you always simplify things. Other tuturials would have suggested foundation papers. Obviously this is not necessary seeing you do it
Looks so cute. I love that line! I have bought a couple pre-cuts in soul mate, i am wishing I bought more of that line. That color palette just speaks to my soul, haha "soul mate".(that was an unintentional pun) As well, as the prints. If I ever see that line again in the future, I will not hesitate to buy it. Thanx for the video.
I'll say it again... Jenny... you "validate" my quilting style!!!! I'm always afraid to show or tell people how i sew because i break the rules and am happy with "good enough".... as you say... "finished is better than perfect".... I think i make about a lap quilt per week,, the the stash is getting used up!!! I'm 70.... this year... don't want to leave it all for my kids to have to find people to give it too...LOL
I like it a lot. Especially the beautiful fabric. It looks so hard but it is really easy. I think Im going to try this. With Saturday September 16 being National Jelly Roll Day this would be a perfect quilt to make with the jelly roll purchased for a special pattern when I found it or buying the Soul Mate Roll by Amy Butler.
This isn't my favorite pattern but I really love the fabric you used. I think I might pick this up in a layer cake to use with one of your other designs.
I soooo look forward to Friday mornings to see the new tutorial each week! But I have a question. Do you make most of your quits the size of a bed so it can be used, or don't worry about it and make whatever size the quilt turns out? I struggle with just making it to "display" vs useability....
Speaking of summer camp, will MSQC be carrying the new Girl Scout themed line by Riley Blake?! I wanted to make a "Jenny's Tents" quilt with it, but now I really like this pattern also!
Lovely quilt... I always enjoy your tutorial... I have a request ... would be possible you can show how to make Twisted Log Cabin block, please.. Regards from Melbourne, Ausralia
What a pretty quilt, Jenny! I've never tried to make a log cabin quilt but I like the twist on it with the half square triangle block and this fabric line really makes it modern. I like the aqua you used in the half square but I think I'm going to try it in red. If I buy the red in yardage will I have to pre-wash it first?
Great question! Most higher quality fabrics no longer need to be pre-washed but if you question it, it wouldn't hurt to pre-wash. Precuts, though, I do not recommend pre-washing.
The fabric I purchased is Kona Cotton - Lipstick Yardage. I've read that pre-washing Kona usually isn't necessary but with it being red I wanted to be sure.
Joyce you can also use "Color Catchers" by Shout (you know that brand of laundry stain remover, where you 'Shout it out'? They also make these washer sheets that look like dryer sheets, except you throw them in the wash). When you are ready to wash your quilt, add a color catcher to the washing machine, and you'll be surprised at how good it is at absorbing any dyes that may run out of the fabric pieces. Instead of running onto the lighter colored fabrics in your quilt, the dye is attracted to and absorbed by the color catcher. You'll know it worked when the color catcher which started out white becomes grey... and your quilt fabrics all retain their own colors. Good luck with your 'Summer Camp' quilt! ~Diana from Toronto
I have a box of those but I haven't tried them yet. I went ahead and ordered a mint green to use instead of the red to be on the safe side. I'll save the red for another quilt perhaps background for the Rhombus Star. Thank you for the advice I really appreciated it and the Summer Camp is next on the agenda.
Hi Rachel! Unfortunately we haven't done a pattern or figured the measurements for making it larger, but it is possible to do so by adding more rows of blocks.
I'm in the process of stowing the blocks together and wish there was an easy way of getting a half triangles squares to match up. I wish there would have been a short tutorial on that because none of mine seem to be matching up and torn so many apart but at this point, I really don't care anymore.😢
Jenny I love your videos and I have learned so much. However, you say to set the seams and you maybe set on out of 20 and then you keep saying it and not doing it. Absolutely cracks me up!!! Have a great day.
I may be barking up the wrong tree( something my mom used to say) I have a question or a problem. I don't have a quilting machine, can't afford one. I have a brother $120 version from Walmart. Disabled and limited budget . I am a beginning quilter. I've watched many many many videos on how to put a quilt together. My family thinks you by the way, they all now have quilts :-). My problem is that I cannot figure out how to quilt the quilt. I tie them now, and it takes forever because of my hands. I am sure people quilt it on Home machines long before all the fancy accessories and machines came around. But so far I've been unable to find a video that teaches me that. How to quilt on a home sewing machine that does not have a deep pocket, an extended tray or any of the other bells and whistles. I know a lot of people read your comments common I'm hoping someone can give me some suggestions.
You could make your blocks quilt as you go (aka quilt as you piece). The gourmet quilter has a few really good tutorials on this on RUclips. Then your just working on block sized squares on your sewing machine and when you put them together, you're all done, but the binding. :-)
I love these tutorials. I am new to piecing and quilting. The thing that holds me back is knowing how to adjust fabric amount from a queen size quilt to a lap size quilt. I have not found an easy rule of thumb. I think the twin size quilts and larger just overwhelm me. I am at the baby step stage. Any suggestions?? Thank you in advance.
I'd get a pattern that shows various sizes for the same block, with the fabric requirements listed for each size. Cozy Quilt Designs has some great ones, although I'm sure there are many quilt patterns for sale on MissouriQuiltCo.com which also include multiple sizes and matching fabric requirements listed by quilt size.
What happens if I flip the HST and sew to the white so the color is primary instead of the white? I would like to have the color in the center square (turned the second way shown in the tutorial ). That wouldn't make a difference would it??
Hi Chris! If I am understanding correctly, it would just swap the dark triangle and the white triangles you see in the diagram. www.missouriquiltco.com/land/tutorials/summer-camp-quilt/assets/summer-camp.pdf
Jenny is the best, best, best, best!!!!
Thank you, Jenny, for making quilting so much fun! And especially, thank you for not being perfect! It gives all of us permission to play and not be perfect ourselves!
This might be my favorite pattern you've designed. Simple, scrappy, and effective and I'm sure there's dozen of layouts. Thanks for the ideas.
Thank you for taking your time to do these tutorials for us. You probably don't know exactly how much we enjoy them. You've been quilting for a long time but still have such enthusiasm for it.

Absolutely love the pop of turquoise! My first quilt was a log cabin, too....all variations are my favorites, also!
I'm a novice quilter and I LOVE your videos. Even if I don't intend on making a certain quilt pattern, (I like this one) I watch every week because you can learn so much! I've bought a MQSC ruler and templates from a Canadian company; thanks for thinking of us!

Another great one to add to my collection! Thanks Jenny!

I used this pattern for a bed runner. Wish I could post a photo! It turned out beautifully!
Love this design! Just bought the jelly roll deal of the day, and I can see those purples in this quilt.
Fun blocks, brilliant fabrics!
Happy birthday bash week!

I wonder if its for sale on ebay.. If someone is destashing...? 💕
I really like this pattern.
Love it! Getting the pattern!

The opportunity is great on the different ways you can make it. You can use Charm packs to make your triangles.
.
I'll say it again... Jenny... you "validate" my quilting style!!!! I'm always afraid to show or tell people how i sew because i break the rules and am happy with "good enough".... as you say... Wow-you do quilt a lot. I thought I was obsessed. I make a quilt every 2-3 wks. My stash is still out of control, oh well, will keep working on it. :)
Love it!
Does anyone else hear Jenny's voice when they are cutting fabric for quilts, or piecing? :-)
Yes!😍
I like it a lot. Especially the beautiful fabric. It looks so hard but it is really easy. I think Im going to try this. With Saturday September 16 being National Jelly Roll Day this would be a perfect quilt to make with the jelly roll purchased for a special pattern when I found it or buying the Soul Mate Roll by Amy Butler.
We would love to see how far you got with this project for National Sew A Jelly Roll Day! Share images with us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! :)
This isn't my favorite pattern but I really love the fabric you used. I think I might pick this up in a layer cake to use with one of your other designs.

Layout kinda reminds me of pecking order. Which I got my charm squares and will start soon
Angle challenged love it, I'm directionally challenged.😂😂
LOVE watching!
Wow
One day, I am going to buy the rulers you have.
thank you Jenny am putting this in my sampler quilt. Is it possible to have a tutorial on the card trick block??
Thanks for the great suggestion! We'll have to see if we can come up with a quick and easy way to make that one.
Jenny just came out with the card trick tutorial......it's great !
Speaking of summer camp, will MSQC be carrying the new Girl Scout themed line by Riley Blake?! I wanted to make a "Jenny's Tents" quilt with it, but now I really like this pattern also!
How fun! We do carry the Girl Scouts Collection. Here's a link to it for you: www.missouriquiltco.com/shop/browse/718
Lindo!
Cute quilt! Did you get a new machine? Looks like a Juki :)
It's still a Baby Lock. :)
Working on the last few squares. This is a fast fun quilt. Thanks for the tutorial. Ps. Have you used the HST ruler yet?
. It's fabulous.
We'll have to try that out! So glad you enjoyed the tutorial!
Lovely quilt... I always enjoy your tutorial... I have a request ... would be possible you can show how to make Twisted Log Cabin block, please.. Regards from Melbourne, Ausralia
One day, I am going to buy that iron.
What a pretty quilt, Jenny! I've never tried to make a log cabin quilt but I like the twist on it with the half square triangle block and this fabric line really makes it modern. Is it possible to make this quilt larger? I love this pattern. I think I can do it! My son is asking for a queen size.
Hi Rachel! Unfortunately we haven't done a pattern or figured the measurements for making it larger, but it is possible to do so by adding more rows of blocks.
It would have looked even cooler with the 4 center blocks having the contrast color as its longest strip
I'm in the process of stowing the blocks together and wish there was an easy way of getting a half triangles squares to match up. I wish there would have been a short tutorial on that because none of mine seem to be matching up and torn so many apart but at this point, I really don't care anymore.😢

What marking pen do you like to use most? I never know what kind to buy.
Would love to see some color variations on this. Scrappy vs nonscrappy.
Jenny I love your videos and I have learned so much. However, you say to set the seams and you maybe set on out of 20 and then you keep saying it and not doing it. Absolutely cracks me up!!! Have a great day.

Susan Mei thank you. I'm going to look up that quilter and then I think I'll try the quilt as you go!
Hi Jenny just love your tutorial, but i just want to ask what is the differents between inches and centimeters sorry about the spelling thanks.
Here's a great converter for you that should help. :) www.google.com/search?client=opera&q=inches+to+centimeters&sourceid=opera&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
I wonder what the quilt would look like if you sewed the strips to the white side?
That would be really fun to try out!
Thank you in advance.

very true comment by jo bernhardt.
it looks like a circus tent the white looks like banners at a circus the center is the big top
