I remember when the Fuel Rats went for a daring rescue out beyond Beagle Point to recuse someone which took several days.
From a recent interview on the ED channel they said the longest rescue took a month to reach.

I had over 30 mil from exploring one time and I was so tired this one night just from constant jumping but I got to the point I was so tired that I forgot to fuel scoop and was left stranded for an hour panicking. Finally a fuel rat come by to help! They truly are a blessing😂

Leprechaun is the correct term, we Irish are aware of Space Leprechauns looking hiding their pots of gold in space. Forgetting that fuel is more important than gold, when one had no fuel.
At least you had rescue close-at-hand. I've only needed the Fuel Rats help once, but I was out near Beagle Point, on my way back from DWE and it took 3 days (in RL) to get rescued. I was so embarrassed too.

@@seantaggart7382 It's not really that *they* shame you, it's just that you end up feeling shameful for foolishly running out of fuel and having to be saved and scoop-trained. It's a shame akin to having to go to the doctor for the clap or something. One of those, "ha! it'll never happen to ME!" kind of things.

This is actually really great to see. I had heard that the Fuel Rats had been attacked so much by ganking players that they just stopped the service as a whole. Glad to see they are still out there saving us all.
We do sometimes get ganked on a call, but it's really rare TBH. I've done 500 missions and it's only happened to me once.

The issue with gankers attacking fuel rats, is that the moment someone on the "ok-ish" side of good, realizes you attacked fuel rats, you may have to change names and play offline for awhile.

No fuel scoop? I never go anywhere without at least some type of fuel scoop, even if its a class 2 on an anaconda, at least it's something..

In real life, that would have been a cake moment. Bring cake to work next day. Of course, if a person is stranded it matters now who they are, none are too big nor to small, there will be fuel rats to the rescue. Love you guys despite hoping I will never have to use your services (but we will see what happen when I venture outside the bubble by accident and forget to fit a fuel scope).

Being able able to call someone to help is the greatest gift all around.
I got my tail last night. So excited to be able to help out stranded cmdrs! Luckily in my almost 1300 hours in game I've never had to call them. The friend who got me into the game taught me to never go anywhere without a fuel scoop, and 7 years later it's still stuck with me.

I've been playing this game for over a year and I didn't even know this was a thing. Never heard of fuel rats before, how do you guys figure these things out, where do you get your Elite Dangerous information from? My biggest problem with this game is I don't know what to do or what's going on. There's no manual or anything.

@@Browncoyote things changed quite a bit in ED in 1 year. The new Odissey (paid ) update ,had lot of issues. you should look for videos in youtube about it, and maybe the space legs are not the thing you are interested in. ED might still be worth buying ( i still play it ), but my fealing that is getting behind "no man's sky" or even "star citizen". A lot of streamers moved out. Not saying you shouldn't get it, just get more updated info. Try watching updated streams here or on twitch to avoid being disappointed.

I got a Fuel Scoop on my Eagle, I make sure I have FUEL SCOOP on all my ships
Most satisfying sound in Elite Dangerous for me was a ship dropping in lol.
Closely followed by a ship entering low wake

I nearly had to call a rat once because I was travelling a lot, and all the stars were carbon stars, and had no hydrogen for me to scoop. So there I was, with only one jump left, taking a gamble and praying, and what I saw then was a major relief: A hydrogen star. I had about 1% or less fuel left when I arrived and got scooping
So glad this pops up in my recommended videos every so often.....
I’m sorry but I’m watching this again. It always buts a smile on my face.

I just started playing this game a week ago and last night I ran out of fuel and requested their help, they got to me in less than 10 minutes from my initial request for help! He helped me out and taught me about scoopable stars and how to filter for them in the map, and I have now bought the best scoop I could, thank you fuel rats!

Not sure what made me laugh more the slow realization that you needed the fuel rats after you made the boo boo or the fact you got wine to cope. 5:52 "FSD injection" two first light are shining. Considering the distances she jumps I think she had about 12 ly jump range.
Her nearest system was less than 7,65 ly away (the one she had routed to had that distance, and at the 4:34 we can see that it's closer)
I think with the 2nd stage injection she would be able to jump there, but I'm not sure if it's even colonized.
A Fuel Rat needs a rescue from the Fuel Rats.

When I ran out of fuel for the first time I was actually excited. It led to the fuel rats which was one of the coolest game experiences I've ever had.
Yeah, I called Fuel Rats once, after that, I came to Fuel Rats myself) We at the Fuel Rats always act fast, abbreviated, and without laughing)
@4:04 - when you're chatting away on the phone, swing the car door shut, but have a sinking suspicion you left your keys in the ignition.
Maaaate. This situation is exactly why even on my combat ships I always have a fuel scoop. Even a crappy little one.
This is why you always carry a fuel scoop regardless of what ship you're piloting, even if it's a crappy scoop, at least you'll have a way to get some amount of fuel lol

Cool, i heard about the fuel rats but never seen them in action. Fuel limpits...cool!
I've only ever gotten to see one other Fuel Rat rescue. That one was amazing because he had a scoop and scoopable stars he could jump between infinitely, but he ran out of jumponium and was stuck between those two systems and couldn't get out without synthesizing jumponium out at the edge of the galaxy. Fortunately he was in a system with a few ringed planets and asteroid fields, but he didn't have a mining laser. So he had to wait for a few hours while a rat with a jumpaconda came out to mine for him while he waited for the one thing he ran out of to make jumponium to pop out and then come in and grab it before it despawned. I forget how many rings they had to mine to find a rock that had the needed resource, but that was an epic rescue! Yours was just as fun to watch though even if it wasn't quite so epic. Subbed!
Every single time I watch a video about Fuel Rats rescuing pilots, I tear up a bit and get emotional, with a smile on my face as I watch them rescue people. 🥰
I watched so many videos on how not to run out of fuel and have my KGBFOAM routes ALWAYS activated. I also make sure I can synthesize fuel as well.
And I always make sure to fit (2) things in my ship no matter what. (25-min Life Support Module and Fuel Scoop).

Everyone has to call the fuel rats! I've called them 8 ish times in my time as a Commander. Once I was in a federal dropship and I was quite embarrassed and I was like "Yeah, I don't know why I didn't pack a fuel scoop"
Always have a fuel scoop and always look out for the KGBFOAM stars
This was great! Been playing a couple years, and thought a lot about becoming a Fuel Rat. Never ran out of fuel or had to call the rats, or ever seen how it goes down. So it was cool to watch. But man. Legit brought a tear to my eye to see... in a game where it would be SO easy to be a jerk and with literally no incentive to help someone they don't know... and they do it just because they want to help others. Every one of them are effing heroes.

When I was an active player, 500 hours gameplay, I wished to apply for Fuel Rats. But then I fainted. Too much responsability. Its a lovely job.

Just saying this but im sure everyone already knows this, but this is my #1 rule for Elite Dangerous: always, ALWAYS buy a fuel scoop. Doesnt matter what your ship is. It's a good investment and you dont have to always buy fuel when you have one. But if you dont want to buy one, map your route so theres a station when your jumping from system to system.

One time I fell asleep while flying and woke up when the critical fuel alert sounded and I was like .1ly away from the star- once the rats got to the system it took them like 45 or 50 minutes to reach my position. Remember kids, if you're going to doze off, always do so in the docks.

Ironically, I recently added a fuel scoop to my combat ship after chasing a bounty across 4 systems, and almost not having enough fuel to get back!
