  • Ranking EVERY State and Territory in the United States of America from WORST to BEST!
We Ranked All 50 States & 5 Territories to live in the USA so you know where to move to and live! Find out which states or territories have the best cities & small towns to live in for 2024!
➽ Join our OFFICIAL Discord Server!: / discord
The United States of America is a very LARGE and DIVERSE country, with hundreds of different types of cultures, cities, and natural scenery. So in order to determine which states and territories are the best (and worst), we analyze a few categories including their economy, climate, cost of living, crime and safety, education, health, and quality of life. I also implemented the pros and cons of each location and my personal experiences as I have lived in 10 and visited 52 of the 55 states and territories on this list!
Whether you want empty space to homestead and buy cheap land, OR live in a big walkable city with plenty of amenities, the US has it all! So my biggest suggestion is to visit these cities, towns, and state before you decide where you want to move to and live.

I'm British - us Europeans often think of the USA being similar from coast to coast, but this video really hammers home how different the states are. It's mindblowing to me that some states have worse life expectancies than Bangladesh while others are richer than Switzerland!

Don’t be fooled by life expectancy data. The number given is an average of all the people. If one state had a large number of men dying from prostate cancer, the state average would be lower, but it would not affect women’s life expectancy. If there is a high homicide rate, the life expectancy would be lowered because most victims are young men, thereby lowering the life expectancy rate. On e again, women’s rate is unaffected. In a state with a high breast cancer death rate, men would not be affected. Averages of anything tell us very little especially when the things measured also differ. All in all, not a very informative video, but good for deterring foreigners.

I always culture/standard of living is always determined far more by cities rather than country/state/region. Even within these states living in some areas vs others make huge differences.

If Massachusetts is the best state in the US then I don't want to be here anymore. Came out of college and worked for Amazon in Fall River, the place was a dump. Then I worked for a consulting company that worked in the greater Boston area, but because of the cost lf living I had to live in Worcester. I had to pay 1500 a month for a 1 bedroom apartment with only road side parking and it was infested with mice. We would hear the mice in the vents and walls, they would fall in the vent system, they were in our oven, we cooked burgers one day and an hour later there were two rolling in the grease in the pan. The celings were 12 feet high and the fire alarm would keep us up literally all night from randomly going off. The winters were harsh as well. I had to learn ways to get unburied from snow real quick. People will shovel out a roadside spot and or salt it, then guard it claiming the spot. So many homeless people. By far they had the WORST drivers. The traffic gets so bad that people got used to just inching out into the road until trafffic is forced to stop. And round abouts.... So many round abouts. Fun fact Worcester has one of THE WORST intersections in the US, its called Kelly Square, the 11 way no light intersection.

Bingo, I've lived in Massachusetts and Southern New England my entire life and it's overrated. It's very difficult to live comfortably unless you make 6 figures. I know a family in Worcester where both the wife and husband work full time and they still haven't been able to afford a home. They're in their 40s! Eastern Mass is IMPOSSIBLE unless you're loaded with money.
A lot of people here are either socially awkward or midwits. Obviously not everyone is like this, and I know tons of great people in Mass. But if you leave the state, you'll notice a general attitude shift in people as soon as you hit Pennsylvania.
We have good education, and crime is low. But every state has bad areas and good ones. Worcester and Springfield have sketchy parts.
I hope you do leave, Massachusetts is a dead end for the lower middle class or young people trying to get off their feet. You might never own a home, start a family, or even make enough to live a comfortable life. I'm getting out ASAP. I can get a nice home in South Dakota or Kentucky for under $200k with plenty of job opportunities and good pay.

It did have its ups and downs but what made up for it was a glacier in our backyard, it’s situated in a temperate rainforest and it has some of the best fishing I’ve ever seen. I now live in New Orleans and the only good about it is that your food doesn’t take a week to get here like in Juneau and the downtown skyline. How do you figure ? Only reason people are moving there is because it’s cheap - why is it cheap? Because of all the issues and lack of opportunity. Theres a reason California, New York, and Washington are expensive - because people are willing to pay more to live there. No ones going to pay California prices in Kentucky, Mississippi, West Virginia, or even Texas (which is why they sell their 1 BR shack in California and get a mansion in Texas).

Migration wouldn’t be the greatest metric, the main reason why people leave states is cost of living (ie. California). If California/NYC had Texas prices people would FLOOD back in because they would rather live there than Texas. Cost of living is most certainly an important metric, but it’s not everything (who would want to live in Mississippi?) it’s better to look at it holistically.

I’m in Nevada, and I’m fine living here and working full time, but if I ever have a kid, I’d rather raise them in New England. I was born there, and my dad had to move us out because of the job market, but now? What state doesn’t want an experienced bacteriologist? Nevada is said to have all the big city problems and none of the big city benefits, but when they’re between projects, the roads and parking are great. But can you please mark the parking lots a bit better? Or reprogram the Garmins to guide you to them instead of to the front of the buildings?
I lived in Virginia for a while, in the Hampton Roads area, and the commutes and schools were awful. But there’s tons of fun stuff to do on weekends (a zoo, museums, historical Jamestown and Williamsburg, amusement parks and water parks and a beach the whole family can enjoy), so I’d recommend a family vacation there. Bring bug repellent.

If you are from a first world country with a high cost of living and a cosmopolitan culture, do not move to an economically depressed region…the politics and the culture will be a serious blow.

From my experience Iowa & Alabama have the most polite and easy-going people. I've never lived in those states other than being stationed at Gunter AFB near Montgomery AL for several months in 1963. It's been many years since I visited Iowa or Alabama and hopefully they're still pleasant states to visit.

Mississippi may rate last but as a move in I can tell you some of these things are true but I can also say it is one of the nicest places to live. The people are kind and caring and the weather is great except for July and August. You don’t have to be money hungry to live here. Comparing us to Bangladesh is just totally wrong.

Make an video "every state that is a victim of the Detroit effect"
Detroit effect: an effect created by me, the Detroit effect is when an state has only one big city, if you live away from that city your life is Good or avarege, but if you live near or in the city your life is an hell hole, like Michigan whit Detroit or Illinois whit Chicago, the only ways to avoid that effect is, or having more than one big city like California that has San Francisco, LA etc, or not having any big city at all like Vermont

Going out on a limb here but I’d say this guy’s just a little biased. It’s not hard from his accent to guess he’s not a southerner. His facts are also way off. North Carolina has a very good economy. US News ranked it fourteenth in the US. If the economy was really that bad, all those people from those better states wouldn’t be moving here in droves.

I’ve lived in Reno and would never go to Las Vegas. Pyramid Lake is beautiful . I’ve been here since 1997 and the health care is great and I was a nurse for 52 years. Lake Tahoe is beautiful and the economy is booming. Great Restaurants. Fine people . Lots of wilderness to explore. The Burning Man festival that was once judged has changed the City. The Black Rock desert is incredible and for one week out of the year Black Rock City has a post office and listed as a city. The art community is amazing and many of the art installations are purchased by the city of Reno and displayed for everyone to enjoy. I was born an raised in Wisconsin and Reno has attracted many from my home state. I lived in the North Woods for 13 years, close to the Upper Peninsula and Lake Superior. Yes , the winters were tough at times, but the North Woods area has some of the best cross country skiing trails in the US.

What you should do is a video ranking the states but without including the big cities which skew stats like crazy. For example, the crime rate in the U.S. without including the 10 largest cities is one of the lowest in the world. The place is big and no one has to live in or near a big city in any state.

Maybe because you called 2023 “Twenty thousand-twenty three” and don’t realize the whole state has become a suburb of Cleveland. 😂 Not to mention the comparison to Alabama beaches was absurd.
