  • Ranking EVERY Country in Europe from WORST to BEST!
We Ranked the Top 50 Best AND Worst Countries to live in Europe for 2024, and while you know many of the popular places, like France, Italy, Germany, and Spain, there are 50 Countries on the continent in total! Find out where to move to in Europe, and which have the best cities & small towns!
➽ Join our OFFICIAL Discord Server!: / discord
Europe is a VERY diverse continent, with hundreds of cultures, languages, and types of cities and scenery packed into a small area! While neighboring states in the USA aren't that different from one another, the difference between many European Countries is stark!
So if you're trying to homestead and buy cheap land, OR live in a big walkable city with plenty of amenities, OR just visit the continent by rail, Europe has you covered!... These countries have MANY crowded AND empty areas. So my biggest suggestion is to visit these cities, towns, and countries before you decide where you want to move to and live!

For anybody considering migrating to any of those countries, please be aware these aren't the only factors that determine the quality of life in a place.
I'm a German that lived in Italy and has been living in Greece for many years.
There are things we can't measure easily that influence how satisfied you'll be in a new country like how compatible you are with their culture or how easy it is to make friends, difficulty level of the local language, foods available, bureaucracy, how to locals view your home country, job opportunities for foreigners, ...
If you like living close to the sea and are an extrovert, Austria and Switzerland will make you feel miserable. If you are a vegan, the less westernised a country is, the more difficult it is to find vegan options.
Also consider that places like Germany, Sweden or Ireland might offer a good job market and strong economy, but very difficult housing situation.
The weather also really is important. Not everyone can deal with cloudy, rainy weather on 250 days a year or with the winter darkness in the north.

There really are very few places that have great climate for me. Sweden (except its southern part and coastlines) is almost perfect.
I prefer real winter with snow and ice for months. But the most important part is that summers don't go higher than 25° (it's rare in Sweden). Summers are ok in Ireland and as far down south as the Netherlands, but there is no winter there.
Long winter nights are not a problem for me. I am more concerned with bright summer nights in the North. That is why I wouldn't choose the northern part of Sweden. Somewhere between Örebro and Östersund should be great.

Many Irish are leaving their own country and they are certainly not happy with the way they have been managed as a whole. I'm from the Netherlands and moved to southern Spain a little over a year ago.... so I moved "down the ladder" theoretically. 🤣 My life in the Netherlands was not bad at all... But I dreaded the 6 months of cold rainy "fall" weather each year and I wanted to live somewhere more relaxed, less crowded and have nice weather year-round. So far it's been great, I have no regrets. In the end it all boils down to personal preference and what you want out of life. ✌

    • @SeverityOne
      @SeverityOne 5 месяцев назад +32

Well, I moved from the Netherlands to Malta 23 years ago. Even further down the ladder, so to say.
We have better weather than Spain. 🙂 While it can be scorching hot, especially now with global warming, the sea moderates a great deal, and we NEVER have snow.
You wouldn't think of the Netherlands as crowded if you lived in Malta. The population density is about 3.5 times that of the Netherlands. Even the Randstad doesn't come close to the average population density of Malta.
One thing that I did learn, though, is that the Dutch complain way too much about their own country. Everything is well organised, they have the best roads in Europe, they have the best (and most expensive) healthcare in Europe.
Would I move back to the Netherlands? No. Once you've lived abroad long enough, there will come a day where you realise that you and your native country have drifted apart. You realise that you're getting older, that travel isn't as easy as it once was, and that the number of times that you'll meet your parents in person can be counted on the fingers of at most two hands. But you're not really an integral part of your adoptive country either. And that yields some very fundamental questions about what you really are.
Migrating can be very enriching, but it's not to be taken lightly. And that, again, is something that many Dutch don't quite realise.

Also one of the reasons I wouldn't move there (also because it is a small island and I'd feel a little limited in my abilities to explore and drive long distances to other places or countries).
Weather wise, well I live close to Alicante and we have probably one of the sunniest climates in Europe, so I doubt Malta will have more sunny weather 😜

Overall, it lists Malta is being a bit warmer and sunnier than Alicante. And contrary to some random website, Wikipedia cites sources.
It makes sense, though: Malta is one of the southernmost places in Europe, roughly at the same parallel as Gibraltar.
Having said that, sunnier isn't necessarily better, as far as I'm concerned. You can't really go out in summer, and in fact, many people in Malta suffer from vitamin D deficiency.

Yes, the narrator didn't say anything about that when mentioning Poland, did he? In fact, I seem to remember he said Britain was the only European country with 'free healthcare' as he termed it. (Of course, it's never actually free, as the people pay for it indirectly via taxes!!) We also used to have a 'free' healthcare system in the Netherlands which was abolished in 2006 (I think) by a totally malevolent cretin named Hoogervorst who at that time was minister of Public Health. He falsely claimed that the expenses for individual citizens would plummet due to 'competition' among the healthcare insurers and 'the workings of the market' and more of the same crap. Needless to say, the expenses didn't plummet. They skyrocketed. With the result that we probably now have one of the very worst healthcare systems in Europe.

Many norwegians also live south of Helsinki, and the western coast of Norway with the second and third largest cities hardly get any snow in the winter. Stockholm is located east of the Scandinavian mountains on the shore of the Gulf of Finland and has roughly the same climate as Helsinki or Turku. The west coast of Norway is affected by the Gulf Stream with its føn wind, so that the warm and humid wind causes the most rain in Bergen in Europe (more than 200 rainy days per year). The same føn wind appears in Finland as dry and warm when moisture has rained on the Norwegian coast and mountains, so Norway is a wet and windy country and the amount of daylight is the same and even less in northern Norway than anywhere else in Finland.

We own at the same time some of the biggest economic giants of the world.
MSC, Leonardo, ENI, Fincantieri, Pittini, all those luxury brands... FIAT...
We are currently spending and investing more in countries like France and America than what these countries are doing to and in Italy.
We own the third largest gold reserve in the world, basically equal to that of the International Monetary Found.
And this list of facts goes on and on...
You know why we always have a low rank? Because: "oh! It's Italy! Pizza, spaghetti and mandolino!"
"Oh! It's Italy! They lost ww2!"

Depression is indeed an important aspect to consider when discussing Iceland and its quality of life. Several factors might contribute to higher rates of depression in Iceland:
Long, Dark Winters: Due to its northern location, Iceland experiences very long and dark winters. The lack of sunlight can increase the risk of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), a type of depression.
Isolation: Iceland's geographical isolation can lead to feelings of loneliness and isolation for some individuals. This can be especially true for immigrants or those living in remote areas.
Climatic Conditions: The harsh climate and extreme weather conditions can impact general well-being and contribute to lower mood levels.
Genetic Factors: Some studies suggest that genetic factors may play a role in the prevalence of depression in certain populations, and Iceland has a relatively homogenous population, which facilitates genetic studies.
Economic and Social Factors: Economic fluctuations, social isolation, and other socio-economic factors can also contribute to the mental health of the population.

Visually Switzerland has the most breathtaking views. It is full of the most incredible looking lakes and rivers that have the most beautiful colors and shades of blue. I've seen many turquoise lakes and you can pretty much swim freely everywhere.
The mountains have divers shapes and heights and you come across them everywhere you go. And in summer the colors of the landscapes look like heaven. It's safe and it's clean. I've ever seen one photo of anything in Iceland looking as beautiful as the nature does in Switzerland.

Poland 25th place. I'm sorry to say but you must be living far away and believe in stereotype-bs as well as old tales. If you are from overseas, this pretty much tells a lot.

"Denmark may not have the best museums, food or natural scenary" ... I don't say we have, but have you been outside Copenhagen and Aarhus and done i.e. island hopping? I doubt it.

Look, this guy hasn't even been to ANY part of Europe. He's just reading a load of stupid stats he found on the web over some random clips he probably grabbed via Google searches (and probably didn't pay or get copyright clearance for) which is why his clip of Luxembourg includes the Jardin de Luxembourg in Paris, France! When my dad was helping promote tourism in Denmark we went to lots of fascinating and quirky little museums, though my favourite, the Mekanisk Musik Museum in Copenhagen, no longer exists. Many happy memories of travelling over on the DFDS 'liners' like Winston Churchill and Dana Anglia, kransekage, Albani beer... etc.

Denmark is nice, but nature wise, there is very little to see, compared to some others. Yes, the west coast is nice, and island-hopping can be fun, but once you've seen one island and one beach, you've seen it all. Basically no diversity. No mountains. Not even hills.

Remember, Iceland is growing at a very rapid rate of 3% annually. That means, if it goes on for a while as it is, in one year the population will be at 410,000. This growth is meeting challenges in a real estate market never having enough supply to meet the demand. Otherwise, Iceland rocks! :) 😊
