Northwest Angle in Minnesota; they’re completely surrounded by Canada and separated from mainland Minnesota by a body of water. In the winter time there is an ice road that gets to it otherwise they have to use a boat. They were completely isolated during Covid

No I was going to sell my house in Baltimore Maryland and move to either the Winterpeg or 27 or so miles south of Winterpeg to a small town called Morris Manitoba Canada and I was told that my Pedigree female German Shepard would be best and less costly and stressful for my dog if I rehomed here or left her with a trusted relative because she would have to be kept in a animal shelter or hospital under quarantine for 4 to 6 months if i brought her with me and this was back in 2000 or 2001but in 2007 or 2008 I was still driving a truck and I was taking a load up through the US and Canadian border and I had this young blonde asked me if I have EVER been arrested and I said NOT since I was in my mid 20's and I'm almost 47 now and she sent me to customs and they were training some new recruits and this young guy around mid 20's came out with 2 chunky blonde trainees who these and this guy says in a rude voice Driver step down out of the truck and I did and as soon as my right foot touched the ground he grabbed my arm and spun me from half way turned around to face him to face back at the side of my truck and shoved me against my truck and says WHAT WERE YOU ARRESTED FOR AND WHEN, so I turned back around to face him and said when I was 17 I was shoved like that by a Baltimore City Cop and I beat the shit out of him and 4 more and 2 civilians in the wrong place at the wrong time so he lost his attitude and told me to follow him inside and I needed to tell his supervisor what I just said so we got in and he gave his supervisor a heads up and I was asked if I had just said that and I said NO I most certainly did no such thing and what he didn't notice was that when he first showed me against the side of my truck his 2 trainees backed away about 15 feet and when said that to him they didn't hear it because if the noise from my truck running and they were back beside my trailer and the tried to get them sat what they heard me say and they said all they heard was 2 trucks running and he got really pissed off and they all went behind the glass enclosure and talked a few minutes and then the supervisor comes out and tells me I to go across to the south side of the lanes ti immigration and he escorts me over and they kept me there for about 2 almost 3 hours and the Big boss in immigration looked up my complete arrest records and they even somehow got my juvenile records from 15 to 17 and I wasn't happy and told him to pound sand and then I got barred from Canada for life and then they decided to let me go to the delivery point and then the north bound scale house pulls me around back and tried to get me for log book violations and I was there for another 2 or 3 hours waiting for their main supervisor for him to go over my log books and then I finally released and I can't make my delivery so I have to stay at the little fuel stop with truck parking area and the sorry SOB had an unmasked cop follow me in the truck stop and parked by the door of the building and sat there AND watched me all night and then followed me back to the delivery and back to the US border and I was told NOT to enter Canada because THEY DON'T ALLOW CRIMINALS IN CANADA. I SAID THANKS FOR THE FAVOR AND LEFT

This border BS has screwed many whose families live on both sides. Both countries signed the NAFTA accords which was sold to us as open borders for people living near there. Instead they closed the open roads and got stupid tough on tariffs and trade and custom duties. Now after millions of undocumented Illegals have been allowed to enter both countries in the last 4 years the borders are open to all but the ones with a record for Anything in their distant past! Having crossed the lines 1000"s of times, the worst hassles were Always when either side were "Training" new recruits. You neglected to point out $6 Canadian is around $4.18 US when you convert the liters to gallons and Canadian dollars to US, so the cost isn’t really much higher.
Filled my gas for 3.1 USD/gal which is around 4.3 CAD/gal or 4.3/3.78 = 1.13 CAD/Liter. On the same day, gas station near my home showed 1.58 CAD/Liter. If I pump 60 liter of gas in my SUV, 60 x .4 = 24 CAD of saving. Maybe for you its not much, for me it is :)

I live in montreal and no those prices aren't what we pay. Milk is 8.00 cdn for 4l eggs are 5 a dzn, which is more expensive but don't exagerate. Gas is more expensive but electricity is cheaper.
There are of course 27 countries in Europe where people can cross the borders without customs & immigration. There’s a town in Belgium where the border goes through multiple properties.
I saw a video like that where some inn and bar building exist on the border. Because of laws, one could walk down the hall and drink on one side, but not on the other while inside a certain age zone.

The Canadian border crossing on the river originally had a trap door that drained right into the river below. That is where they used to drain the illegal booze that they confiscated. You should come back during July or August and see the old lake boat houses and estates on that lake. So many secrets have been hidden there. It’s true that things were more relaxed pre-911. I’m British and drive across the border and back several times. The first time was an ad hoc trip, unplanned. I asked Canadian immigration officials if I needed a visa. They laughed and told me to keep on driving.
FYI, that guy was wrong. You absolutely CAN film ANY interaction with a public official and on public property. Falls under the 1st Amendment. The only place where camera's are banned in court, council chambers or any other municipal place where it is specifically prohibited.

Also right there to the right of the bonjour Quebec sign is the border monument that marks the official border. There are no sidewalks on the American side because obviously the American homeowners haven't paid for sidewalks.
I live in Point Roberts WA, which is inside Canada. You need a passport to drive here from the US. We do have a card, its called a Nexus which speeds the crossing. But you always must report to CBP/CBSA when entering the respective country

It was a actually a whale watching boat that belonged to a bureaucrats friend who was paid handsomely. They reported it as a solution for the people of Point Roberts to go to doctor appointments and Costco runs. However, depart the Point at 0900 arrive Bellingham at 11. Two buses to get to Costco which allowed about 30 minutes to shop before you had to return on the busses. Then when you arrived at the ferry you were allowed only one item the size of an airline carry on, ridiculous. It was a cash grab for the boat operator

Doubt whether it would help because if an American goes from one side to the other, US border control requires a passport. It’s the US Border control since 9/11 that views everyone as a terrorist.
That would be impossible for many reasons. First when entering either US or Canada you must report to CBP/CBSA. I live 500 feet from Canada in Point Roberts, check that one out on a map.
I live close to Stanstead. I remember the good old days where we didn't need a passport to cross the border. They would ask how many Americans and/or Canadians were in the vehicle. That's it, that's all. It was extremely rare that one got pulled over to have their car searched. 911 changed everything. Before 911 we didn't need passports. Even driving on the USA vs Canadian side of the border wasn't as anal as it is now. I use to go to a summer camp every year in Beebe Plain. Half of the kids were Canadian and the other American, coming as far as Texas. The majority of our border is not secure. It's the largest border between two countries in the world. You don't need to have both languages in Canada btw. As for here in the Eastern Townships, Quebec, it's the same exact geography as Vermont. Lots and lots of hills, mountains and lakes.
I lived on the lake in Sargent's Bay. You could get an I64 card for US and Canada customs that allowed up to 13 persons per family. All we had to do was call and report purchases by phone from home after any trip. The US was very different then. Canada too...

For a US passport check with your US post office! I got mine in 2 weeks, my wife it took 4 weeks! It costs about $200 for a 10 yr passport!! There is also a canada/mexico/ carribean/ bermuda card like a drivers license for $85 for 10yrs. Its a plastic card. You will also need 2 passport size fotos!
It's always been an interesting setup....at least since Canada and the United States became countries. I spent half the summer in Newport back in the 70's. Always interesting crossing the border. Into the US, they Border Patrol would see the Massachusetts plates and just wave us through, didn't even talk to us. Canadian Border Patrol....never did that. Always stopped us...and sometimes it was fun with 8 people in the car. HAHA. I figured the 9/11 stuff and COVID had major impacts on the border crossings. I haven't been to Canada since 2006. I need to visit sometime soon!
Interesting interview although some of the information stated it is incorrect. 1) I've always had a primary care physician (family doctor) my entire life of 50 years. 2) I've never waited 16 hours to see an ER doctor but I have waited up to 8 hours however I have never paid any money to see a doctor. 3) We don't sell milk by the gallons in Canada we sell by the liters. 4 liters of milk is about $6.50 - A loaf of bread is $3.00 and a carton of eggs is $6.00 Also, if you calculate the exchange rate, you would be spending less money to buy groceries in Canada. I bet the local kids have fun breaking the law by crossing the road then running back before the police see them😅 What do they do about policing and infrastructure - it must be a nightmare for the local council. This is mad hectic! I'd be nervous as heck trying to visit there, let alone live. That is just mind-boggling that you own a house, but your backyard attached to your house is in another country, and you're not allowed in your own backyard. Wowzers! Just watching the video now, listening to the interview being done with the lady at the gas station, wow you have not shopped in Canada very much. Our eggs have never been $8 a dozen, and if we need medical care it is there especially emergency. You spoke as if we would not be seen in an emergency situation. I say, you might want to interview a Canadian for our point of view. Also our milk is NOT that expensive. $12 a gallon...I don't think so.
Wonderful experience to observe. I'm from Grand Isle, Vermont and have been to Newport often but have never been to Derby Line although we've, my gf and I, often wanted to go to the Opera House. You should definitely take Rick's advice and visit Lake Willoughby; it is stunning. Loved all the people you interviewed. Was wondering if Amy is a member of the Abernaki tribe because my girlfriend is and they bear the same features which are really beautiful imo.

Her "experience" with Canada's medical system are off. Walk into emerg, if you REALLY need treatment, you get it instantly, triage will jump you ahead of the waiting room full of healthy hypochondriacs complaining of the waiting. The deal is you are required to establish a relationship with a GP, who can refer you for tests, specialists, etc all free. Too many people treat the hospital emerg as a walkin clinic, and complain about slow service.

My parents owned a property in Frelighsburg, Quebec. There was an ordinary three-foot high barn fence on the side of the property which was the line between the two countries. It seldom happened that some people did crossings because there wasn’t any road on American side.
Great video! I drove from Waterbury to Derby Line one day to check out the library but unfortunately it was closed. So then I wandered around town and walked down to the river mistakenly thinking that the river bank was the border, so I made sure I didn’t cross. On the way back up the hill however I spotted a small plaque on that red brick building on the right hand side which showed the official border line (unfortunately you walked right past it not knowing). When I got to the top of the hill border patrol in the car nabbed me and I had to walk through the border crossing behind a car!! I’m an Aussie and luckily I had my passport on me the only reason being I didn’t want to leave it in the car unattended. In the years since that happened I always chuckle over the experience but now fail to comprehend how they let all and sundry walk over the southern border??
In the early 2000s I use to hunt in that area. Back then crossing the border was no big deal. I remember hunting and crossing the border by mistake. Nobody even came and talked to me. Things are far different since 9/11

It was interesting, but sad that we are becoming so paranoid. My thought is that if you have a town/city that straddles a border the border patrol should be outside the city limits to allow the community to socialize freely, or give the area to one side or the other. Think of children seeing their next door neighbors kids out playing in their yard and unable to play with them, or seeing a person with a broken piece of equipment that you could help them repair and not be able to help 2 feet away from you. The worst old adage I know is "good fences make good neighbors", not true.
I thought that too - they could have a buffer zone. Saying that, I live in UK and I'm not sure how they police the border between The Republic of Ireland and Ulster. I wonder in reality how difficult it is - do you need to get a visa for instance if you're just crossing for a few hours. I feel a bit sad for them, it's like their community has been forcibly broken up.
That building is not Border Patrol, it is the inspection station for people applying for entry into the US. The Border Patrol station is in a different location.
Correct, it's not Border Patrol, but technically it is a land border port of entry. We saw 3 of them in this video; Derby I91 POE (the big one off the Interstate), Derby Rt 5 POE (the confusing one near the opera house), and Beebe Plain POE by Canusa Rd (where the border is the road).
What a great video what neat history of Canada and US never life would think that one side the street is Canada the other side is you if you drive down the road and you get an accident from like an oncoming car who’s Canadian police mom or in the US orswerved to miss a squirrel or something? Are you drive down one side of the road or Canada and then you go down the side of the road near America turn around what neat experience.
We have similar situation in British Columbia Canada and Washington border where the street is the border and there’s Point Robert’s Washington the only way in is through Canada by car or by boat and 60-7-% of homes are opened by Canadians
OK so here's my question. Canada's speed limits and distances are in metric while the US are imperial. So on the east bound or Derby Line side of Rte 247, why does the speed limit say 'Maximum 50', which is a metric speed? If the Canada/US border is in the middle of the road, and the east bound side of the road is in the US, shouldn't the speed limit sign read "Speed Limit 30"? Just asking.
Also, in MN, with the NW Angle, they have to drive into Manitoba to reach the other side. They only have a video phone booth where you have to verify your crossing. NW Angle also has some of the best walleye fishing.
The same circumstances exists out west. You might want to travel to extreme northwest Washington There is a road out there that straddles the international boundary, but it is not as confusing as things appear to be in Vermont.
There are a couple of other interesting or even somewhat odd borders that I can think of off the top of my head. One is the Kentucky bend, where in order to get there you have to go through Tennessee. And then there's the northernmost point in the continental U.S. in Minnesota where you have to go through Canada to access it. The only other way is by boat. I figure probably the most unusual or tense border in the world is at Panmunjom.
Where the hell does she shop in Canada? Might want to rethink that statement. Milk is $6 for 4L, eggs are $2.99 a dozen, and a loaf of bread is $1.69! MOST groceries are cheaper In Canada now, specially when you include 40% exchange rate on the dollar 🤦🏻♂️

No I was going to sell my house in Baltimore Maryland and move to either the Winterpeg or 27 or so miles south of Winterpeg to a small town called Morris Manitoba Canada and I was told that my Pedigree female German Shepard would be best and less costly and stressful for my dog if I rehomed here or left her with a trusted relative because she would have to be kept in a animal shelter or hospital under quarantine for 4 to 6 months if i brought her with me and this was back in 2000 or 2001but in 2007 or 2008 I was still driving a truck and I was taking a load up through the US and Canadian border and I had this young blonde asked me if I have EVER been arrested and I said NOT since I was in my mid 20's and I'm almost 47 now and she sent me to customs and they were training some new recruits and this young guy around mid 20's came out with 2 chunky blonde trainees who these and this guy says in a rude voice Driver step down out of the truck and I did and as soon as my right foot touched the ground he grabbed my arm and spun me from half way turned around to face him to face back at the side of my truck and shoved me against my truck and says WHAT WERE YOU ARRESTED FOR AND WHEN, so I turned back around to face him and said when I was 17 I was shoved like that by a Baltimore City Cop and I beat the shit out of him and 4 more and 2 civilians in the wrong place at the wrong time so he lost his attitude and told me to follow him inside and I needed to tell his supervisor what I just said so we got in and he gave his supervisor a heads up and I was asked if I had just said that and I said NO I most certainly did no such thing and what he didn't notice was that when he first showed me against the side of my truck his 2 trainees backed away about 15 feet and when said that to him they didn't hear it because if the noise from my truck running and they were back beside my trailer and the tried to get them sat what they heard me say and they said all they heard was 2 trucks running and he got really pissed off and they all went behind the glass enclosure and talked a few minutes and then the supervisor comes out and tells me I to go across to the south side of the lanes ti immigration and he escorts me over and they kept me there for about 2 almost 3 hours and the Big boss in immigration looked up my complete arrest records and they even somehow got my juvenile records from 15 to 17 and I wasn't happy and told him to pound sand and then I got barred from Canada for life and then they decided to let me go to the delivery point and then the north bound scale house pulls me around back and tried to get me for log book violations and I was there for another 2 or 3 hours waiting for their main supervisor for him to go over my log books and then I finally released and I can't make my delivery so I have to stay at the little fuel stop with truck parking area and the sorry SOB had an unmasked cop follow me in the truck stop and parked by the door of the building and sat there AND watched me all night and then followed me back to the delivery and back to the US border and I was told NOT to enter Canada because THEY DON'T ALLOW CRIMINALS IN CANADA.

This border BS has screwed many whose families live on both sides. Both countries signed the NAFTA accords which was sold to us as open borders for people living near there. Instead they closed the open roads and got stupid tough on tariffs and trade and custom duties. Now after millions of undocumented Illegals have been allowed to enter both countries in the last 4 years the borders are open to all but the ones with a record for Anything in their distant past! You neglected to point out $6 Canadian is around $4.18 US when you convert the liters to gallons and Canadian dollars to US, so the cost isn’t really much higher.
Filled my gas for 3.1 USD/gal which is around 4.3 CAD/gal or 4.3/3.78 = 1.13 CAD/Liter. On the same day, gas station near my home showed 1.58 CAD/Liter. If I pump 60 liter of gas in my SUV, 60 x .4 = 24 CAD of saving. Maybe for you its not much, for me it is :)

There are of course 27 countries in Europe where people can cross the borders without customs & immigration. There’s a town in Belgium where the border goes through multiple properties.

The Canadian border crossing on the river originally had a trap door that drained right into the river below. That is where they used to drain the illegal booze that they confiscated. It’s true that things were more relaxed pre-911. I’m British and drive across the border and back several times. The first time was an ad hoc trip, unplanned. I asked Canadian immigration officials if I needed a visa. They laughed and told me to keep on driving.
FYI, that guy was wrong. You absolutely CAN film ANY interaction with a public official and on public property. Falls under the 1st Amendment. The only place where camera's are banned in court, council chambers or any other municipal place where it is specifically prohibited.
What a massive difference there is in borders. US/Mexico. Massive wall with highly controlled crossing points. This town: A literal double yellow line. And I was thinking the xxxx miles of wilderness with a plowed line was practically impossible to enforce illegal crossings.
22:15 The yellow center line is not the border. The edge of the pavement on the right is the border. The road signs are Canadian, so that means the Canadians are maintaining the road. Also right there to the right of the bonjour Quebec sign is the border monument that marks the official border. There are no sidewalks on the American side because obviously the American homeowners haven't paid for sidewalks.
I live in Point Roberts WA, which is inside Canada. You need a passport to drive here from the US. We do have a card, its called a Nexus which speeds the crossing. But you always must report to CBP/CBSA when entering the respective country

@@deirdre108, It was difficult. Both governments could not cooperate for a solution. We finally got a "Ferry" about 16 months in. It was a actually a whale watching boat that belonged to a bureaucrats friend who was paid handsomely. They reported it as a solution for the people of Point Roberts to go to doctor appointments and Costco runs.
However, depart the Point at 0900 arrive Bellingham at 11. Two buses to get to Costco which allowed about 30 minutes to shop before you had to return on the busses. Then when you arrived at the ferry you were allowed only one item the size of an airline carry on, ridiculous.

I live close to Stanstead. I remember the good old days where we didn't need a passport to cross the border. They would ask how many Americans and/or Canadians were in the vehicle. That's it, that's all. It was extremely rare that one got pulled over to have their car searched. 911 changed everything. Before 911 we didn't need passports. Even driving on the USA vs Canadian side of the border wasn't as anal as it is now. I use to go to a summer camp every year in Beebe Plain. Half of the kids were Canadian and the other American, coming as far as Texas.
The majority of our border is not secure. It's the largest border between two countries in the world. You don't need to have both languages in Canada btw. As for here in the Eastern Townships, Quebec, it's the same exact geography as Vermont. Lots and lots of hills, mountains and lakes.
I lived on the lake in Sargent's Bay. You could get an I64 card for US and Canada customs that allowed up to 13 persons per family. All we had to do was call and report purchases by phone from home after any trip. The US was very different then. Canada too...

The reason that you can walkin the library and cross the borders. it is because you did not walk on the land but on the floor of the library! same thing for the lakes. the waters do not belong to the borders. that is why when british conquered Canada. they used admirality law for the ships. because back then the land belong to the aboriginal and only way to create a border was with the water
I’m based in Ottawa but used to work for one of the companies visible on Canusa and used to travel down every few weeks. Luckily I never made the mistake of venturing too far and creating an international incident.

For a US passport check with your US post office! I got mine in 2 weeks, my wife it took 4 weeks!
It costs about $200 for a 10 yr passport!!
There is also a canada/mexico/ carribean/ bermuda card like a drivers license for $85 for 10yrs. Its a plastic card. You will also need 2 passport size fotos!

I spent half the summer in Newport back in the 70's. Always interesting crossing the border. Into the US, they Border Patrol would see the Massachusetts plates and just wave us through, didn't even talk to us. Canadian Border Patrol....never did that. Always stopped us...and sometimes it was fun with 8 people in the car. HAHA.
I figured the 9/11 stuff and COVID had major impacts on the border crossings. I haven't been to Canada since 2006. I need to visit sometime soon!

Interesting interview although some of the information stated it is incorrect.
1) I've always had a primary care physician (family doctor) my entire life of 50 years.
2) I've never waited 16 hours to see an ER doctor but I have waited up to 8 hours however I have never paid any money to see a doctor.
3) We don't sell milk by the gallons in Canada we sell by the liters. 4 liters of milk is about $6.50 - A loaf of bread is $3.00 and a carton of eggs is $6.00
Also, if you calculate the exchange rate, you would be spending less money to buy groceries in Canada.

Our eggs have never been $8 a dozen, and if we need medical care it is there especially emergency. You spoke as if we would not be seen in an emergency situation. I say, you might want to interview a Canadian for our point of view. Also our milk is NOT that expensive. $12 a gallon...I don't think so.

Wonderful experience to observe. I'm from Grand Isle, Vermont and have been to Newport often but have never been to Derby Line although we've, my gf and I, often wanted to go to the Opera House. You should definitely take Rick's advice and visit Lake Willoughby; it is stunning. Loved all the people you interviewed. Was wondering if Amy is a member of the Abernaki tribe because my girlfriend is and they bear the same features which are really beautiful imo.

Used to be a no-concern border, then at 9-11 US freaked out and started acting as if Canada had done that crap.
Her "experience" with Canada's medical system are off. Walk into emerg, if you REALLY need treatment, you get it instantly, triage will jump you ahead of the waiting room full of healthy hypochondriacs complaining of the waiting. The deal is you are required to establish a relationship with a GP, who can refer you for tests, specialists, etc all free. Too many people treat the hospital emerg as a walkin clinic, and complain about slow service.
My mother's family came from Beebe, on the Canadian side. Some of my cousins were born on the US side as the closest hospital was in Vermont.
Many years ago, on our honeymoon, my new wife and i drove thru Derby Line...and whoops.. we almost were in Canada driving down the street......it was a quick stop, gave infor and were on our way.......an unforgettable time.......thanks for the reminder........

My parents owned a property in Frelighsburg, Quebec. There was an ordinary three-foot high barn fence on the side of the property which was the line between the two countries. It seldom happened that some people did crossings because there wasn’t any road on American side.

Great video! I drove from Waterbury to Derby Line one day to check out the library but unfortunately it was closed. So then I wandered around town and walked down to the river mistakenly thinking that the river bank was the border, so I made sure I didn’t cross. On the way back up the hill however I spotted a small plaque on that red brick building on the right hand side which showed the official border line (unfortunately you walked right past it not knowing). When I got to the top of the hill border patrol in the car nabbed me and I had to walk through the border crossing behind a car!! I’m an Aussie and luckily I had my passport on me the only reason being I didn’t want to leave it in the car unattended. In the years since that happened I always chuckle over the experience but now fail to comprehend how they let all and sundry walk over the southern border??

It was interesting, but sad that we are becoming so paranoid. My thought is that if you have a town/city that straddles a border the border patrol should be outside the city limits to allow the community to socialize freely, or give the area to one side or the other. Think of children seeing their next door neighbors kids out playing in their yard and unable to play with them, or seeing a person with a broken piece of equipment that you could help them repair and not be able to help 2 feet away from you. The worst old adage I know is "good fences make good neighbors", not true.

That building is not Border Patrol, it is the inspection station for people applying for entry into the US. The Border Patrol station is in a different location.
Correct, it's not Border Patrol, but technically it is a land border port of entry. We saw 3 of them in this video; Derby I91 POE (the big one off the Interstate), Derby Rt 5 POE (the confusing one near the opera house), and Beebe Plain POE by Canusa Rd (where the border is the road).
What a great video what neat history of Canada and US never life would think that one side the street is Canada the other side is you if you drive down the road and you get an accident from like an oncoming car who’s Canadian police mom or in the US orswerved to miss a squirrel or something? Are you drive down one side of the road or Canada and then you go down the side of the road near America turn around what neat experience.

We have similar situation in British Columbia Canada and Washington border where the street is the border and there’s Point Robert’s Washington the only way in is through Canada by car or by boat and 60-7-% of homes are opened by Canadians
OK so here's my question. Canada's speed limits and distances are in metric while the US are imperial. So on the east bound or Derby Line side of Rte 247, why does the speed limit say 'Maximum 50', which is a metric speed? If the Canada/US border is in the middle of the road, and the east bound side of the road is in the US, shouldn't the speed limit sign read "Speed Limit 30"?

Also, in MN, with the NW Angle, they have to drive into Manitoba to reach the other side. They only have a video phone booth where you have to verify your crossing. NW Angle also has some of the best walleye fishing.

There is a road out there that straddles the international boundary, but it is not as confusing as things appear to be in Vermont.

There are a couple of other interesting or even somewhat odd borders that I can think of off the top of my head. One is the Kentucky bend, where in order to get there you have to go through Tennessee. And then there's the northernmost point in the continental U.S. in Minnesota where you have to go through Canada to access it. The only other way is by boat. I figure probably the most unusual or tense border in the world is at Panmunjom.
