Hi, I cant believe the building since we were last there just over 2years ago. Pleased you enjoyed the breakfast, we have eaten in there many times and the guy you met was Mark . Sadly he lost his mum at xmas who was our friend and she and her husband moved to Malta some 20 plus years ago and live in Bugibba her husband still living there and staying, he says Malta is now his home. Mark at the Bell does a good sunday roast, and not sure if its friday or Saturday lunch , you have to book it , the best fish and chips on the island Nice to have a look around, wow the building. Thanks Steve 🇲🇹👍
I have an apartment in Carolina in the Big Ben apartments on the coast road above Kennedy Grove. I love the area, especially meeting and greeting all the British 'grockles' on holiday. Can't wait to be back for good. Keep up the good work
You see, you can get lost on your own la! Can't be better than the secret garden. I love the qawra palace. The evening entertainment in the summer is proper Malta Cabernet. I love it. Best of luck my mate.
Go to Qawra,Bugibba twice a year last there in December went to the bell a few time for breakfast,Mark the owner Yorkshire lad and into Rugby League,Good to watch RL when its on.Good priced drinks way cheaper than tourist st and nice food too,Breakfast is good and so is the Sunday roast dinner,Try that one Sunday Steve.Might bump into you sometime Steve and buy you a pint and a bite to eat.
I remember a cousin of mine, having a holiday house, back in the early 70's , when there was none of these big buildings. Its gtown so much. Thanks for showing us Steve
We stayed in Qawra for a few weeks in 1976. At that time it was a barren rocky area with fields at the back. There was one family run restaurant, a small shop, a few small houses and not much else. We stayed in the first new apartment block called Salina Apartments looking out across the bay and we were the only people staying in the block as it wasn’t quite finished. It was beautiful then. A few years later they opened the Luzzu pool and restaurant area and now it’s all totally unrecognisable. Thanks for the video Steve 😎
Interesting to see how the building work has progressed since the Pandemic as we always stay in that area. That area has plus points and as well as being 5 minutes from Qawra sea front, it is also only 10 minutes to Bugibba bus station and the Aquarium. I guess that the Qawra/Bugibba area is an acquired taste, but to us it is a great place to stay and hopefully we will be back soon to our favourite hotel which is just around the corner from the old Venus appartment complex and across from the new blocks which used to be the old Salina Wharf holiday complex. Great to see how things have progresses Steve...Thank you.
Thanks for showing us around Qawra, looks a busy place& when all that building work is finished will be peaceful place to visit, that was a cheap breakfast& plenty to fill you up for a few hours.
😄 Thanks Steve👍 for show us around / great walk ,I never go close to the water in Malta😎 ,because the rocks are a bit dangerous and smooth to walk on lol😬 much building🧱🚚 work there....so lifes go on💃 ....from Copenhagen DK 🇩🇰
We have had many a breakfast and other meals at The Bell pub in Qawra. Also spent many nights drinking as well. So much cheaper than eating and drinking on the seafront or the square in Bugibba. Thanks for the memories Steve
Hey Steve 👋🏼 A nice little wander around Qawra there. That place changes monthly with all the construction 🏗 I think different strokes for different folks Steve regarding the area. I was never keen on that area myself but I am actually quite fond of it now having stayed at the San Antonio a few times in recent years. I bet that old villa you walked past behind the new Sun Crest once had a stunning view of the sea! How mad would you be to have that big hotel built right on your doorstep 😩 Regarding the breakfast Steve, I thought it looked quite nice. Although I do prefer a proper tomato rather than tinned ones! 🍳🥓🍞🍅☕️
Only recognised the area around the Bell went in there for some lunch last September really enjoyed it Qawra as changed so much I was totally lost watching the video.Good video Steve 👍.
Steve, Wife(Maltese Canadian) and I have spent many holidays in Qawra and my favorite restaurant is across from The Bell, Reuban's Drive -In, best and biggest steaks in Malta, guaranteed. Keep Safe, Ciao
What a lot of building going on in the area, Steve. Could have shown you a short cut to The Bell, but we would have missed all the new builds, it was good you showed us what's going on in the back streets. We've had many great breakfasts at The Bell, and their Christmas Day Dinners are worth booking. Your breakfast looked yummy, plenty of it, and a great price, well worth a visit. Thanks for the update Steve.
It has been a funny month We have had cold winds and more rain you can shake a stick at which is very odd Glad you did"nt get slimed😁 What a lot of construction going on there Not the middle of nowhere now😁Thank you for sharing your breakfast👍☕Hope to see you soon🤗💕
Me and the in laws and my partner came over and stayed at the il palazin in buggiba last year and we’re back again end of this year! Can’t get enough 🥰
Wow the building sites going on , and we only were in Malta just before the Pandemic, it looks like a jungle there , although I would love to get back for a holiday sometime soon 🇦🇺😍
I live right next to the Bell. I'm in the UK at the moment, pity I could have caught a glimpse of you if I was in Malta. Hopefully the construction will be finished in the next couple of years, the dust and noise is terrible.
I stay in The Dolmen several times a year and walk through Qawra coming out on the sea front between Qawra Palace and The Suncrest just after sunrise each morning and back past The Aquarium the coastline is stunning at that time. Last September I walked the coast road to St Julian’s and from Mdina to Dingli Cliffs amazing way to see the island, heading back in May. Love your videos, Steve
well the bell pub has grown bigger over time ,and yes fantastic value ,it was 2 ,50 euro when i last ate there , did i hear you say you was a brummy in the vid ???? my first time in malta was pure joy ,as i stayed in st julians and met a very famous maltese man ,and was invited to afternoon tea with he and his wife,, the bus terminus was a delight with the old buses arriving in the circle and the wives with the lunches for the drivers in paper bags ,, and in bugibba i found a small maltese pub with a hidden surprise in the back room , a full size snooker table ,,spent many a enjoyable hour in there ,,...great video ,,,i might be over again in the not to distant future ,,,,
@@bobby6517 what a shame as it is a nice pub ,,still the eight ball cafe has snooker tables but not the same atmosphire , but the eight ball does the best english cup of tea ,,,
You'll get indigestion eating the brekkie that quick lol. My daughter in law and grandson live at the back of the Qawra Palace in Triton Mansions so know that area well. Last stayed at Qawra Palace in December 2019, loved it there. Xxxx
Hi Steve. I’ve been staying in Qwara since the late 80’s more or less every year up till now, going back in august. 18:11 in the film is where I spent all my summer holidays through my childhood the blue balcony’s . Always walk down this road and remember my childhood with my grandparents. ❤️🇲🇹
My Apt is in the same street as the Bell "Triq-it-Tamar" at back of Qawra Palace end. It is now a concrete jungle but night life and sea being so near makes up for it. Bell breakfast gotta be the cheapest in Malta.Nice Vid, Thanks Steve.
Thank you for this video Steve. We have been coming to Club Riza since 1990 and are due back this May. When we were last there they were knocking the Palm Court down and now I see they have built a whole new apartment block. Looks like it will be pretty noisy when we get there.
Each country has its own beauty and flaws I traveled a lot in my life due to work.Visited many countries some I liked others not so much. But I never dare to insult somebody’s country. Maybe here in this beautiful Malta we are thought better.
hi steve me and my family stay at the suncreast in 2010 were we got rob when we were at the pool but the hotel where kindly upgrade to full board so we did not pay for anything, it took a few day to sort thing out but we still have a good time
Loved that Steve, my Sister in Law lives in Qawra, so when we are in Malta later on this year we will try the Bell breakfast, but i'll ask for fresh tomatoes. Cant stand those tinned ones, Great Video.
Sold out to developers without any constraints. Could have turned it into nice villas instead, with height & density restrictions, public spaces etc, what a disaster ! Imagine the noise & traffic when complete.
I remember staying in that Venus hotel years ago, was called Reuben’s Court back then, with its sister hotel Palm Court just opposite. That bar on the corner was a nice little place too
Thanks for the video Steve! I know you recently went to Birzebugia but I was hoping you can make a return trip soon. I would love it if you can take a walk around Noqra Lane . I lived there in the early 70s. It's on the other side of Birzebugia, where St George's bay is. It's been 45 years since I moved to Canada and I would love to see it again.
Nice mooch about Steve, took me right back to the days of working on the building sites. Just think of all those flats and hotels in the summer filled with holiday makers, still it's what ever takes your fancy a'. I think I'll stick with Mellieha. How's the Covid situation over there Steve? Scotland has more now than it has ever had. Take care.
Love this video , thanks Steve for showing us how the new buildings in Qawra progress is going, wish they built buildings like this in the other parts of Malta than the horrible and bad new designs they making in some areas

I’m in this area on holiday now. Very dodgy scaffolding on all the new sea front apartments. In these times who will stay there? It was ok for a week but I’d pick a different base next time. Agree with you
Thanks Steve, though I don't think it did much for tourism, it's changed from a dump into a building site in my opinion 🙄 The breakfast looked good, don't know how the poor guy makes a living in that area, btw we prefer tinned tomatos 😋
As a tourist I think it's a shame that there is so much building in Malta. It takes away the nice atmosphere in the towns. And the old houses look not well kept. Broken windows, not painted balconys, etc. I think they should renovate the old buildings.
Wow Steve , looks like they`ve all jumped on the band wagon at once , maybe they`re going for the record amount of high rise apartment blocks in the least space . Did you ever find out the average asking price ?
