    Hi Bridget. From the bottom of my heart I would like to say thank you so so much for all your videos, especially the 13 meditation videos. I was listening to the meditation videos on my gym ball and I was so deep in meditation that I didn't realise I was in labor. I got up from the gym ball feeling the need to.push , I woke my husband up at 4am. 4:20 I was at the hosp and 4:45 on 1 July my precious boy was born. I made it to hospital just in time. I had no tearing this time and was 100% still in tact, I was discharged 4 hours later and got home before my first born even woke up.My first labor was so traumatic but your videos was the ultimate game changer with this labor. Labor is truly all a mind game and I believe that where the mind leads the body follows. Thank you so much, I wish you all the best.

    I am 38 weeks, I have had two cervical exams, baby is softening the cervix but not dilated as of yet. The last two exams irritated my vagina for a week.
    I am going to opt out of cervical exams until active labor/water breaks. My vagina is very sensitive. But there has got to be a better way to check for dilation. There is a lot of changing happening between the uterus, cervix, and vagina. Vaginal exams affects the skin and discourages the mom mentally/emotionally.
    I rather focus on relaxation and comfort, not vaginal pain.

    My sister was checked and she absolutely hated it. The nurse woke her baby up and he was very strong so she felt a terrible pain from him kicking the nurse.
    A nurse tried to do it to me and I asked what she was going to do. When she said "a vaginal exam", I just said "No, thank you". She was very surprised, but didn't argue with me. I felt like a super woman, honestly.

    I needed this video yesterday… I have a history of abuse so there is a lot of trauma surrounding my intimate areas and even with telling them that yesterday at the hospital they checked me 3 times!!! I’m 35weeks3days. I was crying so hard and told them I feel violated and just kept saying we need to see where you’re at. 3 times!!! I was sent home after 9 hours anyways so I’m honestly so traumatized… I’ve literally been balling all day and can’t get over it I feel so uncomfortable. I wish I knew to just say no. To check 3 times in one visit is absurd. Especially knowing how much I panic and hate it. It’s my body to touch not theirs. It is so invasive and makes me feel horrible.

    I wasn’t aware that I had the option to say yes or no. And when it happened, for me it was very painful and something I just didn’t expect. It discouraged me so much because I felt like a big baby for not being able to “handle” a cervix check, so how in the world was I going to be able to push a baby out :p it’s insane how much our brains fight against it. I ended up with another c-section unfortunately. But this time around, I really want to educate and empower myself to just do the damn thing.

I'm 36 weeks and wanted to cry when my doctor said I was 0 cm and 0% effaced because there's so much pain and pressure going on. I feel like all of the hiccups recently have stressed me out and made me tense up as whole and I really appreciate the comfort this video brought me. It's helped me transition into a more relaxed mindset that everything is going to play out when it's meant to play out. I think I'm going to forgo the cervix check at my next appointment so I can focus on a calm and happy mindset these final weeks.

    I am a first time mom. I had my first cervical check at 36 + 4 and baby was very low but my cervix was not dilated neither effaced. I had my second cervical check this week at 37 + 5 and my obgyn asked me before if I had felt contractions but I told him I only felt very mild period cramps (I am used to very bad cramps while on my period) so I didn't think much of it because I also had some the week prior. So he was not very hopeful for the second cervical check...to our surprise I was 2,5 cm dilated and 80 % effaced and baby was still really low at station -1. I was in shock! I now it doesn't mean anything cause I could stay like that for a couple of weeks, but I was still amazed! For me, cervical check don't hurt at all but I am never really stressed about those type of medical procedure and my obgyn is so relaxing and zen! I really hope he's going to be the one at the hospital when I will come in for my delievery.

    I absolutely hate vaginal exams. I was induced and I had about 6 vaginal exams and that was enough for me to choose to get c section because I couldn't go through any more.
    I guess it also has to do the bedside manner of the doctors in my place. They don't ask you for your consent and or even warn you about what they're going to do

    This makes SO MUCH sense! My first childbirth was 2021 and I was being cared for by residents. They were SO not gentle with the cervical checks. That pain was so much worse than most everything else I experienced there. A nurse ended up breaking my water when the residents failed to. I was already maxed on miso and pitocin but failed to get past 6 cm and they were forced to do a c section 😕 Thinking about it now, I wonder if that pain and tension is why I couldn't dilate further.

      Hi! Don’t worry at all, pregnant women are considered full term from 38-42 weeks so you have lots of wiggle room there as long as you and baby are healthy ;) .. Of course consult with your OB but also know that you don’t have to be induced if not necessary and you will meet your baby soon! I will be 40 weeks on Wednesday and I’m going to start all the natural remedies for inducing labor. Due dates are more so estimations rather than a 100% accurate dates. What about women having vulvodynia or vaginismus? How would they know when to give epidural? Please help.

    • @HypnobirthingWithAnja
      @HypnobirthingWithAnja 4 года назад +2

      Hi honey, I thought I would answer this. In general epidurals are given when a women is about 5-6cm dilated. After that it is considered too late and before that, too early. If you have vaginismus and your vaginal area is tense because of this condition (so maybe a cervical exam isn't something you want) you need to be gauging your contractions to have an idea about how dilated you are. Usually, when you are approaching 5-6cm dilation you will be having contractions every 4 ish minutes and they will be lasting 45 ish seconds. This is not set in stone though and it depends if you are a first or second time mum. I would advise asking your midwife to see what they can advise for vaginismus. When is your baby due? Love and best wishes, Anja xxxx

      @@HypnobirthingWithAnja thank you ! Even I get tensed when I hear about cervical exams. I guess I too have vaginismus. I am 37 weeks pregnant. What can I do to avoid cervix exams ? I am going to a gynaec for my delivery & not a midwife. Please suggest

    is it normal for your vagina to bleed after a midwife/doctor do the cervical test?(putting 2 fingers inside)

    Hi Bridget I had two cervical checks today, which was the most painful thing I’ve experienced. I noticed that many online recourses state that only the tips are to be inserted into cervix? I am confused because my nurse sticked her whole finger up my cervix and was wondering if this was normal?

    Hi Bridget. I’m only barely 31 weeks pregnant and yesterday I started having contractions and had 2 cervical exams that showed me I was 2-3 cm dilated!! I was terrified! I’m in the hospital now and I am so very confused. Thankfully the contractions have gotten much fewer and farther between but I don’t know if I should have them do another cervical exam to determine and make sure I’m not continuing to dilate more. I feel like if they don’t I’m not sure they’d be comfortable allowing me to leave and go home on bed rest.

    I'm afraid I'll be super tense and can't relax during or after these exams, because I have some traumatic experiences where this person forsed himself onto me and ignored the fact that I did not consent. Basically sexual trauma. Even when they did ultrasounds where I had to pull my shirt up my legs were shaking and heart was pounding and I could not relax on the ultrasound bed. Strangers touching me makes me really nervous and I can't help it. How can I cope with this in the hospital since I know they'll need to do vaginal exams?

      I'm sorry you had that experience. ❤️ Honestly, you can decline ALL exams. This is more for the health care professionals than you, there are different ways to gauge your progress.

      I'm so sorry you experienced that! Something that helps me is to ask the provider to walk me through every step and tell me what they're doing. Deep breathing and trying to relax my muscles and focus on that can help the exams be less painful too. Remember that you can tell them to stop at any time too! Good luck 💙💙

      So sorry for your experience !!! I didn't get any vaginal exam until 39 weeks, you can wait until your water breaks or u are in labor pain. Also try to shift your focus on something else like deep breathing...
      Essential oils helps too...

      It can also help for you to explain your sexual trauma and request the same clinican/s during your care journey so you have some time to build a trusting relationship.

    Hey Bridget, you talk a lot about first-time vs second-time mothers and I was wondering if this distinction only works for vaginal delivery. I had HELLP with my first and had an emergency C-section at 32 weeks. I never experienced contractions, not even Braxton Hicks, so I don't think my body would know what to do the second time around. So the "when contractions start and if you're a second-time mom you should go to hospital sooner" etc doesn't apply to me right?

      @Shangrafable 4 года назад +2

      I have a similar question too. I'm 36 weeks pregnant with my first child but I have had a missed miscarriage at 10 weeks before. It was a blighted ovum but I still experienced labor pains (induced with help of 12 misoprostol tablets placed in vagina) and I was dilated before a D&C was performed. So does that mean I will go into labor rather quickly like second time moms or will it still be slow like a general first time labor? Confused.

    Hi Bridget, how long shall we wait without induction? 41 week ? 42 weeks?

    • @gabystringer2056
      @gabystringer2056 4 года назад

      It depends on your health and baby's health. If you want to decline induction til 42 weeks this is permitted with informed consent, but you normally need monitoring every couple of days from 40 weeks as there is a slight (and increasing evry day) risk of still birth, which becomes substantial after 42 weeks.

      You'll know when to push! Your body will start pushing whether you want it to or not lol. Your uterus is pushing the baby out and you're just assisting it. It's like when you reeeeeeeally need to poop, it's coming outta there!
