Really well made. You are very good at taking the time to explain step by step.
Thanks Ian I appreciate the kind words.
Like the videos. I always order extra circlips as I have a habit of seeing them spring off and disappearing into the great unknown
Thanks for the tip Alan, I think I might start doing this on future jobs, but I always hope I'll get it right first time, doesn't always seem to go that way mind!
Glad I found this series. I've just bought a 600 Bandit "project" that's in a millions pieces. You've given me some confidence to get stuck Into my first proper strip down 👍
any idea why this might happen? improper shifting, or just normal wear and tear?
My left ear enjoyed this video, but my right ear didn't hear anything.
Thank you for letting us know Vursten, we have been trying some new audio equipment and it's taken some time to work out all the settings
Great video! I have a 92 gsxr1100 which shares this engine(so I've read)...
Any idea why my gearbox would grind when trying to select 1st from neutral?
Also, will the bandit exhaust and headers fit? I've read that the gsxr sump is slightly deeper?
Much appreciated
Ben
Hi Ben, all the oil cooled engines are very similar, with the grinding it could be a number of things but the first thing I would check it the chain isn't too tight as that can affect it. The Bandit exhaust will fit but you might have to change the sump over to the Bandit sump along with the oil pick up, as like you say the GSX-R sump is a different shape.
@@Classicmotorbikes I actually bought a bandit sump last week after my sump decided to leave it's thread on my sump plug. I'll keep an eye out for a replacement exhaust 👌 thank you
I got the B6..So you can basically drop the sump and get at all the gears? Why not do the whole lot with selectors? If your keeping the bike you might as well. Saves going back later
Hi Olaf, the price for a whole new gearbox is VERY expensive so just replacing what is needed, I don't mind doing more work later on if something else wears out and thanks for watching the videos
Don't blame you looking for second hand that's a lot of money just for a couple of bits really there must be some one out there stripping a low mileage one in good condition
Seen complete low mileage engine and box for less than that always some one braking one on the Facebook groups
Good luck
I know it's not the cheapest but I'm glad I don't need to replace the WHOLE gearbox, I'll keep looking at the different options as I don't mind spending a bit on the bikes as I'll never sell it.
Hi Ian i'm sure you will find second hand parts even if you leave it a few days there's always new listings and you have other things to be going on with for a short time, good luck and i will keep my eyes peeled for you we have a couple of breakers here in Warrington, i will give them a call for you that's no problem i will let you know if they have, Regards Mark...
Hi Mark, thank you for the offer but I think I've got something sorted, will keep you updated 👍
Great show again..now used parts versus new...personally I would go new only because you will be mighty miffed if she is still noisey when put back together..still makes for an interesting later show. Very informative stuff..thanks
Would be even worse replacing some bits for new and it still whined 🙈. Even if it still whines after I'll just be glad I know the gearbox is in good order
I have a 2007 bandit 1250. I have a nasty whine from the left hand side. Bike has done 40k miles. I dont no the cause of the whine but if the gearbox needs a rebuild I have not been able to find a gearbox repairer near me prepared to rebuild it or at least change the noisy bearings. Do you carry out repairs on a commercial basis, i.e. would you undertake this job for me if needed ?
Hiya mate, having an issue with my k8 1000, I know gsxr transmissions whine anyway, but first gear is super loud whine wise, people are saying that it's worn gears, so I'm just wondering how I'd go about getting the parts needed
Na my bad.. Did not watch 6
Do you fancy taking mine apart to, I'd keep it forever if I knew it'd been rebuilt as well as you are.
Great video thank you.
Thanks Random Rides, I'm just glad I've found the bits wrong with it so I can get them fixed and keep it forever.
Hy , I am watching your bandit o clock series , i have 1200s 2002 model and I am curious how doea that whine sounds? I am trying to.find video but i dont seem to do it, i have problem with 4. Gear 3. Is not so bad but i am not sure is that the whine that you are talking about, thank you very much for answer
Hey man how can I get ahold of you? Going to restore a 98 bandit and would really like to pick your brain.
Hi Elvis, sorry on the slow reply, I started a new job in November last year and I've been flat out since. Drop me a message on my photography page on FB ISB Media 👍 Ian
The introduction music played well, but cannot hear anything when the guy is demonstrating.
I had a problem with the stereo audio, it works on an iPhone or computer but not android phones, but I found the problem and fixed it
@@Classicmotorbikes I can hear you now. Awesome!
Hi Ian, I'm watching, and enjoying, your Bandit series in readiness to refurb my Bandit 600. It's not been ridden for at least 8 years. Any tips for an extremely inexperienced mechanic before I start the job?
Hi John, glad you are enjoying the videos. I'd say get yourself a workshop manual and have a read through before you start any jobs. Taking lots of photos as you go is always handy, so if you are unsure what something looked like you will have a reference. The Suzuki Bandit is one of the more simple bikes to work on so a great place to try your hand at improving your skills in the garage. Any more questions just fire away. 👍
@@Classicmotorbikes thanks for your advice. I've got a Haynes manual as bedtime reading and will be sure to take LOTS of photos 👍
Best of luck with it John and I hope you enjoy yourself 👍
Top job guys
Thanks Bluehazeboy, going by the name I take it you like a 2 stroke?
Classic motorbikes certainly do, I have an sk2 bandit for 12 years, as well as a good old gt750 Suzuki
Couldn't hear the commentary mate
Hi Stephen, was you watching on an android phone? I did have an issue with audio for a video or 2 but should be ok on all the others. Ian
I hope I dont have to do this part ! :)
I’ve got my fingers crossed for you 🤞
Mileage?
Hello, the milage is around 50,000miles. Ian
Great info !
Thanks Daniel, I’m lucky that I didn’t need to replace too many parts
Thank you so much for your Bandit series 1 and 2. Im qorking on my bandit along with you!
Thanks Joe, good to hear you are getting stuck in working on your Bandit, what are you doing to it at the moment?
Nice job recording the process in this and part 1. One question: with the 4th gear teeth being pitted/worn, was the whine any worse in 4th gear? I realize on a constant mesh the teeth are always engaged, and it is the dogs that select which pairs are the ones transmitting power.
Hey Brian, 4th and 5th gears was the worst whine but it's much better now 👍
