how does an sv650 transmission work? (and i'm sure other motorcycles)

  • struggle with me as i go through the parts of an sv transmission. I go over the shifting, shift forks, various shafts, shift star and cam, etc.

    Am really enjoying these tear-downs and explanations. Could you take a look at all the bearings in the case and the transmission/counter-shaft? I wonder which ones are bearing the highest load and have the shortest life span.

      i'm quite sure the crank bearings will be the first to go. cause thats what dies in race bikes (either that or rod bearings).
      i'll have to do some homework on the other case bearings since I've never really had to deal with them

    Love it. These instructionals are priceless. So to help ease my mind here, if you don't care. One time I took a corner much too wide yet when I recovered I was going too slow and almost stalled in high gear and while doing so I heard a few metal on metal low rpm *clanks*. It's been behaving fine after that but was it the dogs just escaping their placement? Something I should worry about? Thanks, Sergei.

      That sounds more like chain jumping around than anything else
