    It is time for the newest instalment in that beloved cinematic automotive RUclips experience where we film practical cars that can be bought for less than £1,000 in a manner befitting of their inexpensive value! This may go horribly wrong (and frequently does)...
    This time, as we test a 2000 Honda Civic 5 Door 1.5i S (MB), we showcase a car for sale, have a surprising amount of fun, drone on about the Honda D-Series engine and drone on about very little of any importance at all. Nothing untoward, then...

    Perfect daily for hubnut if he hadn't bought a rusty 106 , practical little car Sir

    That would look fantastic once it's been valeted. 🙂 The interior looks like it just needs vacuuming. And I adore a car with a velour upholstery.
    The LE registration suggests it was sold at a dealership in West London. My 1999 SEAT Ibiza was JLE and sold at a dealership in Harrow.

      Yes, may well have originally been from a dealership in West London before it ended up in Salisbury. The interior could just do with a good clean...

    Great cars I've owned 3 and about 25 other civic variants and these mb civics don't suffer from rot nowhere near as bad as the Japanese built civics it's such a shame most of the mb6 vti have been broke for parts for engine swaps not enough people in the honda community like these because of the association with rove which is just silly...

      Yes, the Swindon Civics of this generation are very much undervalued due to the close association with Rover, but they do tend to be very good cars. I did an EG4 on No Budget Reviews in 2020 (link in the description below), and there are a lot of chassis similarities between them, but the EG and EH Civics are worth an awful lot more these days.

    A great honest little Civic, for someone to run about in.
    A excellent review as always Sir.

      Thank you, sir! Most certainly suitable for someone as a runaround, even if it does need a bit of work.

    Original Civic Type R from the 90s was epic sadly cant buy them anymore as they are all in museums or car collections nowadays lol

      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Год назад +1

      The three door Civic Type Rs were not sold over here, but we did get the crazy 1.6 VTi three door with 158 bhp.

      @@lloydvehicleconsulting Ah that’s a shame 🤦‍♀️ was not a fan of the later type R civics they all rust and the new ones are so ugly 💩

      @@christineayres7199 , the 1990s Civic VTis (both 1.6 and 1.8) are most certainly still excellent cars.

    I've never heard of a Civic Aerodeck being converted to a Rover 45 or HHR 400 front end but I'd like to see one. I recall River continued the R8 400 tourer instead of builder one on the them new car.
    That wood on the dash looks Fabulous Joseph, just like the wood in my Grandfather's early HHR 416 SLI Auto.
    I hope the sills in this car are in better condition than the ones on Joe's Grandfather's Civic. A common issue with these cars perhaps?
    Fingers crossed it finds a new home rather than the scrap man.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Год назад +1

      Yes, it's a fairly common thing. Have a search online for Rover 45 Tourer, and a couple will come up. The 400 Tourer continued until 1999, as Rover presumably did not want to pay the licensing rights for the Civic Aerodeck. I don't know about the sills, you would have to take the covers off... Yes, I hope that someone does want to buy it and put it through the MOT!

    I would be happy to pay £1000 and chuck few £100’s to get it upto it’s best if I was looking for a cheap car. I’m sure it would give another few more years service to someone.
    I had two Rover 400 version of that Honda and both of the cars I enjoy driving.
    Hope it don’t get scrapped.

      Yes, it could do with a new cambelt, the rust treating, the mirror fixing and those brakes sorting out, but otherwise it's really not that bad! I hope someone decides to buy it.

    These five door Civics did look great, although the Rover 400 version was more classy. The engine does seem very quiet and you did seem to enjoy the gearchange Sir.
    Fairly well equipped and most definitely a better smoother alternative to a Ford Escort, Vauxhall Astra or Nissan Almera.
    Very rare now so it is great to see one.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Год назад

      Yes, very nice gearchange, surprisingly nice to drive and well equipped for a car of this age and type. They are only going to get rarer if prices for the ones in average condition remain low, I think.
