you obviously have no clue what freemasons are and how the war was tied into THAT secret society, they did this, we werent enemies, we were brainwashed lol
...again, built by the hearts of legend where many a man has grown fond of the sea, a lady appears from the edge of a true river...protected by the guns of her clan, tall and ready, lean in design, full of spirit, she cuts into the natural salt waters of Maine, her first baptism; she carries the name-sake of honor; Danial Inouye. GO FOR BROKE!!! HOOYAH!
I noticed a lot of these Burke class destroyer s only have 1 ciws aft and are missing one in rear of the front terret. With antiship missiles inbound towards the bow, the ship is vulnerable. Or is the space left vacant for a future laser. I would rather have the extra ciws.
Don't worry, the CIWS is for secondary defense they have other methods of dealing with incoming high maneuverability anti-ship super sonic cruise missiles!
lol if you havent worked on these ships youd think they are of high quality. i have refitting their work and have seen the weld jobs on their work and we are lucky these things dont sink out the gate! just sub-par lowest bid crap there is. dont ever forget the lowest bid gets the job, this was the cheapest company we could find, we all know you get what you pay for
Maybe it's just me, but I would never be comfortable on a warship that only had 1, 127 MM (5 inch) gun. and 2 CIWS anti missile defense guns. missile systems are fine until their computer firing systems are out...then what? I miss the old fletcher class destroyers. You look at them and think...you don't want to mess with that ship.
If all the computers are out, you have some very serious issues.. along the lines of the USS Cole DDG-67 a few minutes after the bombing in Yemen. Even then, she was back up and quasi operational not long after till she ran out of fuel in her generators, even while the Sailors were fighting to keep her from sinking!
I agree that little 5 inch gun doesn't look too impressive. But anyone shooting at her will probably be a fighter or destroyer firing a missile from a long distance. So, maybe the big guns would look great, but not much use against a missile. Hopefully she has lots of anti-missile and anti submarine capability.
Naval warfare is over the horizon already no point for naval guns when you’re targeted by missiles. CIWS might have a chance with some of missiles but if you’re primary weapons systems aren’t looking good you’re not in the fight
welp in the end if a computer is gone like that your dead. But at least you still have a chance against a modern attack unlike a fletcher. no advanced computer to help the guns target fast movers. No modern CIWS. It is a easy target. I would still take my chances with a burkes any day even with the computer out. because with burke at least you got EW and Decoy defenses.
Daniel Inouye is an American citizen born in Hawaii prior to it become a state. He fought in WWII and was a MOH recipient for the most decorated US military unit in WWII, the 442nd. He was also a Congressman representing Hawaii and then a long standing Senator. He may have a Japanese sir name, but he is the true definition of an American! He is well deserving of having the newest Arleigh Burke destroyer named in his honor.

They have ECW(Electronic Counter Warfare) systems

Why did they remove the CIWS up front? Seems ill advised.

Why did the US military allow a Japanese name?

Sadly the type 055 is a much better ship and the Chinese are building it faster too.
Well thank goodness we'll melt their ships with Tesla rays before they ever get out of port. All at once.
