- In this tutorial, I will show you how to use Curves in Blender.
➡️ I forgot to mention in the video that I have the "Add Curve Extra Objects" Addon turned on. You can turn it on in Blender's user Preferences, under Addons. It will give you extra curve objects to use.

this changed my life lmao, i understand how so many artists make the bits and pieces they do lmao
Glad it was helpful. : )
This is by far the most comprehensive tutorial for curves, yet friendly for beginners. Please keep up the great work!
Thank you! Glad you like it.
For real. Thanks!
Thank you for the simple, clear and helpful video!
At first I only saw 5 options (Bezier, Circle, Nurbs Curve, Nurbs Circle and Path) in my Add>Curve menu. To see the other curve options shown below Path at 2:02 I had to enable the "Add Curve: Extra Objects" add-on.
Thanks! Yeah, I had forgotten that I turned on that addon, before I made the video.
Thank you!
Thanks….I had the same issue!
Thanks, man! You saved me!
where is that enabled
I got into using Blender to create 3d models/prints for jewelry making. This is hands down the single most useful tutorial I have watched for my intended use. So awesome, I can't thank you enough!
Glad it was helpful!
In newer builds you have to enable the arrows that run along the curve in edit mode. The setting is in viewport overlays, they're the normals/handles checkbox.
Thanks for the info! 👍
omg thank you so much cant even imagine hows your comment is on point much love
can't find that in edit mode, can you be more specific ? these arrows and handles still don't show for me
@@Turb0Transp1 Viewport overlays( it's a drop down menu on the top right), curve edit mode(at the bottom of the dropdown menu), the checkbox is next to a slider, check the check box then select a curve in the viewport. Go into edit mode, the curve should show the normal/arrows.
Only curves will show these types of normal.
By far the best blender teacher i have found. You explain things like we are beginners but also use terminology that everyone will understand, you explain things not in use of crazy theories like we have been doing this for years on end. Most tutorials on blender act like we have been doing this for years.
Thank you!!!
Glad it was helpful!
Honestly I've avoided curves from my blender learning experience, but decided to give it a shot and this video made it so clear, thanks and good job!
Glad it helped. Thanks for watching : )
This is some next level teaching. I love this brief overview of the tool, the most important parameters and some creative use-cases!
I love your stuff, Ryan, please keep it up!
Thank you very much!
Why can't all tutorials be this clear and to the point? Thank you!
Haha, thanks!
Short and straightforward. Working on Anime hair today, so having a video like this to review the features of curves was ace. Thanks Ryan!
Cool, thanks for watching!
A fantastic overview and demonstration of the fundamentals of curves without getting too complicated or taking too long. Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Absolute legend. Thanks so much for this video. In a world of tutorials full of poor audio quality, bad explanations, and poor visual examples this really shines through. Keep it up man. Beautiful.
Glad you liked it!!
alt + s on vertices was exactly what I was looking for thanks a bunch!
Without this video i would never find out on how to make pipes without using a modifier to a cylinder, this behaves better than the modifier, thanks alot!
This is so clear. It's people like you that make me love blender even more. big thanks
Happy to hear that! Thanks for watching!
The way you explained this was genius I was lost at first with curves lol thank you
Glad it helped!
Some instructors move at a crank head pace and you have to slow down vid to 1/4 speed......Some instructors don't have the access to a microphone...some instructors think I'm interested in blasting music that drowns out the voice....some instructors do a 5 minute and skip over 5 steps in the 1st minute...RYAN does it the professional, comprehensive and caring way...making it look easy..Thanks R.K.
Thank you! Glad you enjoy how I teach! 👍
One of the best tutorials for a feature ever, I come here when I forget anyting about curves and use it as a reference. Thank you!

Thanks Ryan -- this was great. Perfect for an intermediate blender user. So many things on YT either assume a newbie or a blender black belt. You have won a new subscriber!
Thank you Michael!
All I needed was the Object Data Properties > Geometry > Bevel > Depth to create a body for by curve. Thanks for the video ^^
Thanks for watching. 👍
100% the best how to use curves in Blender tutorial on the internet.

not only super useful but also very well presented
you have a knack for presenting without all the umm-ing and ahh-ing which plague so many of these tutorials (and i say that without intending to be harsh on those who share their knowledge - presenting in a clear manner is difficult - you do a brilliant job)

omg you helped me with so much in this video. I'm making my first room in blender to learn how to 3d model, and you taught me so many things other videos hadn't to do certain commands I really needed to use, in a easier format, all while also teaching me how to use the curve. So many things you mentioned helped me in different aspects. I'm finally starting to feel like I'm becoming familiar with blender now. Thank you, so much for this video. Truly.
thanks for watching!
Sooooooooo nice! This is helping me enourmously to shape non-symetrical pool-frames. Its way eaysier than messing with cubes and orbs and all the other options. THANK YOU!😍
