This is a superb moment of musical beauty. Young Aksel proves once again what a divine gift he has and is. The cello obligato is masterfully handled. This performance is one of the most satisfying moments of recorded music i've ever experienced. Heavenly!!!
Thank you so much! This is one of my own favourites as well. I recorded it again earlier this year together with the same cellist (Gunnar Hauge) for a new album that will be out later ruclips.net/video/ycofMWG1JTE/видео.html
Looking forward to your second Cd release Aksel. Even though I'm still disappointed that you did not end up recording a record in Norwegian, perhaps folk music etc, I am more than pleased with your classical records on CD and performances on youtube.
Well, even though I enjoy singing Norwegian folk music as a chorister in Oslo Cathedral Boys' Choir, classical music is what I am most at home with as a soloist. The new CD will be released very soon, on March 9, and it will have a nice version of this Handel aria.
This rare joule I need to download also because's so much Wonderfuly, I reallye am passioned by video and shows of Aksel It makes me very well, from my heart, is good to hear remind the good thing there's in our life. Congratulations Aksel. Brazil, South América.
Bravo, Aksel. I was to see that YOU performed at HM The King's 80th birthday event. You must have been proud, and HM happy to have one of the greatest of Norway's cultural gems take part in wishing HM a very happy birthday ! Congratulations, dear Aksel.
Dear Aksel, today I visited my 80 years old mother, she sang in a choir until the age 75, she loves to sing her whole life and in my childhood she always sung with me, me the first and she the second part to all melodies we sang together. Today for the first time I showed her a few of your singing-videos and she was so happy to hear you and she always said: Oh, my good boy, it sounds so beautiful, you sing with your whole heart and soul , ist's so joyful for me to hear you, you feel the spirit of the music! Thank you! Only the best for the future, greetings Simone🌻
Aksel Rykkvin Perhaps you still know that I am musictherapist for old people, I give a concert to them every week , I am playing pieces on the piano or I am singing for them or we hear music together, sometimes with artists, for example : Erna Sack, Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Fritz Wunderlich, Joseph Schmidt and I offered them your Haendel Aria you sang with a trumpet! I told them about you and your development an they we're so astonished that your voice sounds clear and brilliant like the trumpet All of them we're so happy to hear you and they gave a big applause for you and they send you greetings and many many thanks. I promised them to write this to you. And with another old woman I heard " voi che sapete" and she began to crie because it sounds so beautiful to her! Greetings Simone🌻

A most beautiful piece, one which I'm unfamiliar with. This is a superb example of great musical accompaniment. Your talent is amazing, thank you so much for sharing it with the world.
Great performance, Aksel! I really enjoy listening to you singing! You always sing with a great feeling for the atmosphere of the aria! It is more than excellent!
Thank you for referring me to this performance, which I had not heard before. The early music ensemble is excellent and as always, you gave a beautiful and masterful interpretation of the music. Bravissimo.
I have just heard the final version we recorded for the upcoming album, and I think it sounds even better there. Glad we could have the same baroque cellist, Gunnar Hauge, on the album recording as well!
Aksel, you are wonderful and I enjoy listening to you so much. I am a coloratura soprano, so I sort of know how hard it is to sing like you do, but at the same time I can't imagine being as good as you are at your age. Keep up the good work, I'm excited to see where your singing takes you :)
Wonderful performance! And personally, I think performing baroque pieces with period instrument musicians such as this (vs. modern instrument groups) takes your performance to a higher level - it helps you reveal the beauty and true soul of Handel's music and lets your talent shine even brighter. You are very gifted.
circa1720 totally agree with your comments, Bach, Mozart, and a host of German composers from the same period all brilliant, but Handel played on period instruments as here unbeatable when sung as beautifully as this. Well done to all concerned.
OMG, what an amazing voice you have, you are just perfect! I just discover your youtube channel tonight and I'm about to listen ALL ur videos before going to sleep XD
FROM WIKIPEDIA Kongsberg Church (Kongsberg kirke) is a located at Kongsberg in Buskerud county, Norway. [1] Kongsberg Church was constructed of brick and designed with a cruciform floorplan. The design of the church was inspired by Garnisons Church in Copenhagen. The church contains a richly decorated roccoco interior. Virtually all fixtures in the church are of wood, but pillars and surfaces have been marbled. The whole church has a cool blue color as a result. On either side of the altar and pulpit are the pillars that bear the organ gallery above. The Baroque organ is from 1765 and made by organ builder Gottfried Heinrich Gloger. The baptismal font was carved out of marble extracted from Holmestrand in Vestfold. The church was designed by Joachim Andreas Stukenbrock and the construction period lasted from 1740 to 1761. The sanctuary includes ceiling decorations by Eric Gustav Tunmarck. Among the driving forces behind the decoration and interior of the church was mining engineer Michael Heltzen. In 1928, Tinius Olsen gave a major donation to the restoration of the organ which was water damage in the late 1880s. [2][3][4][5]
Hello Aksel. I would like to ask you if you are ever touring America? If not, please consider this. You have a god-given talent that many, including myself, would be delighted from listening to in person. Also, I'd love to get a photograph with you to send to my friend, as she feels you are quite nice on the eyes. Thank you, Aksel~ The Thavage
& CONGRATULATIONS to Sean Lewis. Great balance. Sean, I enjoy seeing the mic at the tail of the harpsichord. What is it please? Is there a second unseen harpsichord mic? And, do I see a mic under the harpsichord? If so what is it picking up.
For singing? Italian, I think. Although I can't speak it and have to learn the meaning of the words for every song, it has wonderful sounds for singing.
I do know of another treble having a go at this piece. To me those two very long sentences look very difficult to interpret meaningfully within the music: which is probably why I have not been asked to sing it. I am so glad I survived our schoolmaster's attempt to destroy our love of music.

Such great beauty and joy you bring to the world, Aksel.
It's always a joy to see Baroque being more appreciated today. So underrated! And of course a stunning performance, as always.
Both voice and cello are outstanding. The sensitivity and musical"breathing" of both are supremely beautiful. That's no small feat!
Cello and voice entwine so well that they sing to us as one....
Makes getting up in the morning just that little bit easier:)..
You good soul. Godd bless you.
Splendid! Brilliantly sung, Aksel, and what marvelous instrumental accompaniment. This piece is another treasure.
Thank you! Yes, it's just wonderful how the cello is used here, I think :)
Aksel Rykkvin i like the music sooo much

Didn't know this at all - excellent, truly...great body of work being left to remember this superb treble !
Thank you, I love it when I get to sing something different than the standard treble repertoire.
Great performance, Aksel! I really enjoy listening to you singing! You always sing with a great feeling for the atmosphere of the aria! It is more than excellent!
Thank you! This Handel aria really grew on me as I practised it.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen Oliver ich bin rrrrrrrrr
That messa di voce at 5.29ff alone was worth the journey to Norway.
Long journey, I am glad I didn't disappoint then!

God inspires and bequeaths talents to all. It's obvious God imparted a quid pro quo to Aksel Rykkvin as they both transform the listener. BRAVO!

Ergreifend. Tiefgreifend.

Which is easier for you, english or german or dutch? French, Italian too?
For singing? Italian, I think. Although I can't speak it and have to learn the meaning of the words for every song, it has wonderful sounds for singing.
If ever a language was designed to sing in, it's Italian. Well worth learning just because it sounds so awesome.

👍
The CD is 63 minutes of entertaining music although his fans will be sorry Aksel sings on only half the numbers .
He sings a lot of Handel. That music no doubt was written for the treble voice, because women were no permitted to perform in those days.

Thank you so much. We recorded it on the Light Divine album too!
