I've spent years 'looking after myself', keeping my weight down, exercising every day, eating the right stuff, why oh why then did I insist on pouring poison down my neck every night? This woman has changed my mindset about alcohol and I could not be more grateful.

I’m on day 5 of the challenge. So much sense coming from Annie and Scott. Amazing content. I went for my usual long walk today with my wife. About 30 mins in I stopped and burst into tears and couldn’t stop crying. I felt sad for myself and my alcohol abuse. I also felt enormous relief. I’m so done with alcohol. It’s a complete hoax. Thanks guys from Ireland.

I am on day 5, I read your book and instantly connected to a lot of what you had written. I have been a heavy drinker for about 30 years (I'm only 47 so most of my life then) I have never felt so empowered to stop as I do now. I have had many goes before and failed miserably. I have highlighted certain paragraphs and keep reading them when I get the "feeling". What amazed me was the fact that everyone feels exactly the same the morning after, "I must stop drinking, What did I say, who did I text?" My anxiety levels, even after 5 days are almost non existent, as I know exactly what I did the night before. Thank you for the great start that your book has encouraged.

Just discovered you tonight on NightLine. I am a former alcoholic, sober now almost 15 years. You are awesome. Refreshing in a world so dominated by alcohol. The biggest lesson you have to learn is that you don’t control the alcohol, it controls you. Once you can admit that to yourself, you can put it away. Not that it’s easy, but certainly can be done. Thank you for your channel here. I listened to you and subscribed right away. Keep up the good work💪

Your book is awesome. I started the 75 Hard Challenge (Andy Frisella) which includes no alcohol for 75 days among other things. It gave me the impetus I needed to explore over enough time whether giving up alcohol permanently might be the way to go. I discovered your book around 40 days into the challenge. It was perfect timing. I have done 30 day no booze challenges but while I learned a lot about not drinking and having to deal with the pressure, the Dry January or Dry July, etc it’s easier to explain away the reasons for not drinking. They’re now attaching charities to these campaigns. What I found was 30 days wasn’t enough (for me) to really sit with this concept of not drinking for the rest of my life. Combining not drinking with the other elements of 75 Hard Challenge I believe and reading your book was exactly the combination I needed. Thank you so much for this book it really is brilliant on so many levels.

Hi Annie! I have always been very slim, extremely fast metabolism. When I was a lot younger (I'm 33 now), I used to get the "drunk munchies", but not anymore - It's to a point, that if and when I binge drink - I don't want to eat at all while drinking, not even the next day (don't crave food when I'm hungover, unfortunately for me) - So I lose weight when I'm binge drinking (unfortunately it spirals into that almost every time I drink). I know that I need to make a change. Right now, I can't wrap my head around quitting forever. As of now, I haven't drank in 18 days and I'm trying to GAIN weight, as I am about 15 lbs under weight - from work stress in a high pressure industry and then often drinking when I am not working (i.e. - Covid shutdowns on and off). It's gotten to a point, where I am way too underweight. ANYWAY, here's my question finally - Have you ever heard of people LOSING weight bc of their drinking? And then being able to gain it back and look healthier when not drinking? THANK YOU, love your videos!

I haven't done much research into it but anything is possible. we all respond to stress and stressors differently. I think with the clarity not drinking brings you're more likely to make healthier choices which in your case would mean gaining weight.

I've done several AF "sessions" over the last 15 years. For some reason, even after 30 days of being AF, I still don't feel any of the benefits. Alcohol actually makes me eat less (so I loose weight when I drink). Obviously, I want to stop drinking because I don't like the 3AM sweats and mostly because my brain feels better. But sometimes I'll argue with myself that in other ways, alcohol makes the rest of my body feel great. It's an annoying discussion with myself! Here I am, trying again. Will start with 30. I hope it will turn into forever.

Often we don't notice the benefits until much later depending on where our body is focusing on healing first. Much as we also may not notice the risks until much too late.

Annie you are the best of all coaches, truly amazing.
So are you saying even after you have stopped the brain will produce dynorfin because its used to that?
Is that the reason you still stay kind of low after you have stopped? X

    • @ThisNakedMind
      @ThisNakedMind  4 года назад +1

Our brain will always produce dynorphin in response to certain situations.

What about delirium tremens? This can be dangerous. Some people can't just stop drinking for an experiment and need to detox in a controlled medical setting
    😞

Only around 10% of drinkers are physically addicted. If one is concerned they fall into that category they should certainly consult with a medical professional.

Wait a minute, I had a friend who was a doctor. He's dead now. He died of a brain tumor, and aggressive brain tumor. He ran over 60 marathons, eight only vegetables fish and chicken, and he didn't smoke and he died in his late '40s. So how do you explain that?

As we know cancer can be caused by many factors - genetics, exposure to certain chemicals, etc. All we can do is try to reduce our chances of cancer developing.

They are not bold as much as they are True. This is actually easy info to find:) She has several drs on her experiment , just check it out. If its scary or offensive then just try it to disprove her. I actually am in the Medical field and have taken care of people with Alcohol induced Dementia , ( its HORRIBLE) one was 62 yrs old. she didn't cover that here. It's certainly promoted in society but the facts about its danger are not new. Have an awsome day sir.
