In April after about a month of fear based COVID evening drinking I decided to go on a 35 day challenge: no booze, keto and do a chloe ting work out program. Two days into my challenge I''m on a friday afternoon zoom happy hour. Everyone is drinking and I feel like garbage, even after the call I am ITCHING for my Friday night beer and wine, my anxiety is out of control. I ended up reading This Naked Mind instead. I remember ROLLING MY EYES when Annie writes 'you'll go from never getting to drink again to never having to drink again'....three days later something clicked and I was like "I never have t drink again!!!" LOL. Thank you Annie!
@@ThisNakedMind A quote from AA/NA "We had to have something different and we thought we had found it in drugs." Really hit it on the head when you said the thing you thought was helping you do everything, was really destroying everything. I just found your channel, great stuff. I hope you are well. Congratulations.
It’s so true. When you feel like you’re giving up something beneficial, in any way, it’s really hard! Giving up a poison is actually easy, but only when you stop seeing any benefit, and that takes a lot or reading and introspection. While I’m sure you get some push back on this, you’re also giving a lot a people a different way of approaching the issue of alcohol.
When I got sober about 5 years ago it was because I had a similar shift in perspective. I realized that I could be a strong, proud, sober person and the desire for that strength and peace was a much stronger desire than my desire to drink. I felt like I was gaining more than what I was giving up. It wasn't just about trying to stop drinking. It became all about what I was gaining and the idea in my mind of the person I could become. That's what made it so much easier for me to "stop drinking".
@Komorebi🕊 I smell projection. Seems to have worked pretty well for me for over six and a half years now, I’d call that sustainable. Much more sustainable than drinking ever was. And staying sober has taken a hell of a lot more work than just a shift in perspective. Not still drinking. Sorry about your issues, bro. Hope you figure it out and stop leaving shitty comments to random people on the internet✌🏻
I find this to be the most powerful and insightful video you have made thus far. Thank you for making this struggle sound so incredibly human and yet absolutely conquerable with the right mindset.
Annie, your book changed my life! I had tried SO many times to stop drinking by using will power. Of course that didn’t work, I really thought I was seriously broken or I was an alcoholic. I found you through Sober Sis and I’m so glad I did, I have been AF since May 30th, and it really hasn’t been that hard. Thank you for revolutionizing how we can stop drinking. I appreciate you so much!
Teresa Standish Annie’s methodologies saved me 3 years ago. She’s an incredible and powerful story teller with SOLUTIONS to seemingly complex situations. I’ve changed my life thanks to TNM.
I found her randomly from RUclips and she is great for her own personal gain and I'm happy that she was able to quit from relying on others but she will never be able to help us with this never ending cycle of drinking!
I found studying how the GABA and Dopamine from alcohol actually effect your brain was the only thing that helped me, understanding how I can drink 30standards and still be anxious or not having a memory of an alcohol 'high' since partying in year 12
I am so grateful that I found you and your channel , I am day two on my sobriety journey with alcohol I've relapsed several times and I just have had a personal painful experience with AA so I choose not to go so finding this channel is a life saver and a God send I hope I can be a part of this wonderful community.
This post is 2 weeks ahead of me but I am also on day 2 sobriety. It’s scary because alcohol has gradually dug itself into me. I can’t tell you when it officially took hold over me. When I look at photos just 4 years ago as a successful personal trainer, RN and Air Force service-member, I wonder when and how I lost myself. Incredible how this drug can completely transform you in the worst and most sneaky way. Good luck on your journey.
This is fantastic. I'm already a member of the Path. I embraced Pause for a couple of weeks and then I felt it triggering, but after watching this video, I feel more informed. I also appreciate the vulnerability in your story behind the pause.
Thank you so much for this Annie - what an eye opener. I was only just journaling the other day that it's so frustrating that the harder I try the more I seem to drink. Yay I'm actually normal.
It's totally what changed for me. I struggled for a long time. Then I switched my mindset of "its poison" (because it truly is), and then I never had a craving, desire, or ANY struggle to ever want alcohol again. Now I feel sorry for people drinking because they have no clue how much they are damaging themselves. Gamechanger.
Wonderful . Thankyou... so encouraging & I've suspected for a bit, this could be the case! More acceptance & curiosity less recrimination & hopelessness. ✨
My anxiety is through the roof today from drinking last night. I’m afraid I might kill myself. I am never ever going to drink again, I can’t. I actually fear for my life today.
Thank u for all u do! Can't wait to get tour program! Been on the spiral of guilt, blame, shame and more guilt and fear for years now. Looking forward to making a mindshift and change!!
I am 23 and my dad recommended me to you. I never believed in the AA program, for myself. I understand it works for some people, I get that. But I don’t believe in calling myself an alcoholic, to me it is more like a choice I make I can choose to quit or cut back. I just don’t want to drink vodka every single night to mask my social anxiety. I love this. I will be more compassionate and help myself. I will go to your site right now at 1 in the morning. Thank you so much Annie.

Feel like your saying my story (2 bottles of wine a night) I have looked at my children in wonder and awe of their wonder and excitement of the world and wish I had that … instead of waking up hung over and dragging myself. I loved your book ! The second time I read it The first time I wasn’t ready … I truly love what I know now about alchohol and will educate my children with this information…
Yep the same principle of following the law versus Holy Spirit or the lure of the forbidden fruit. It doesn’t work with willpower. I learned this at 44 after 18 - 20 years of drinking every weekend.
I’m up to day 21 and doing great. I started this journey 11 months ago and had a voluntary setback for a few months while I experimented with one or two drinks per day that ended up being four or five. Now I’m back cold turkey doing great. I’m trying to encourage a friend to start the alcohol experiment. Hope I can. Thanks go out to you Annie.
Annie. Can I use this ? Well I know I can , however would this approach work for Vaping? I did your program and it changed my relationship with wine.... its been awsome. I now want to stop nicotine, and im strong arming myself. Hmm 😒 🤔 maybe I could apply this to that? Love you work Annie.
Use this as a learning point. You found an area that still needs attention. What was it that led you to drink again? What resources do you still need to develop? This isn't a failure but an opportunity!

So glad you can see the value in that. The push back isn't an issue as long as we are helping people!

I completely agree!
I have recently started reflecting on the times in my life when I drank. When and why did I feel I needed it.
That's an important piece to grow and heal from it!
People who send Annie hate mail are óut of their mind! This woman should have a statue! X
Awe, thank you!

Booze is really insidious isnt it
It certainly is!
Hard to believe that a total stranger can change your life. But she can.
So honored!
I relapsed. Wtf

♥️♥️
Is this concept of TNM; like being a normie? So you either drink one here and there but no more 2 bottles (like being a moderate drinker?)
I don't dictate how you'll drink.(or not drink) That decision is left to the individual.
Did you even watch the video?
You keep blabbing on and on.
Hope you were able to gain some new insights anyhow! Appreciate you watching!
