  • Most Jamaicans are not rich, but so many are so very wealthy (meaning they have met all their daily needs)!

    What is wealth? To a blind man, sight is wealth. To a homeless man, a solid roof over his head is wealth. It is not always about money. Let us think with our hearts and the wisdom that God gave us and not what 'the world' says. To the world wealth is yachts and 20 bedrooms houses: get real. I am wealthy. No big bank account and lavish house etc. BUT, today I am 70 years old, alive and very well; a roof over my head, food in the house, clothes on my body, I can pay my way. I can see, walk, talk, hear, understand.
    Now answer me-----am I not wealthy? Each of us have something/s that make us wealthy, be thankful and when you can, help another.

      My dad built his own house back in JA too! Halfway up a mountain, with one water pump and a couple of sheds for the local shops. Sometimes the electricity would go and he would live by candlelight for weeks. But boy, he was so happy and wealthy in his contentment. And that was after he got fed up with the 'workaholic for financial gain' lifestyle in England.

    Thanks for highlighting the positives! For the Americans especially, that wants to look down on the few that goes there for work, we all have a aim and that's why we take all your "shit" because we know its only temporary, then we go back to our perfect climate that you have to save a lifetime for.

    great video. to those of you upset about the tone of the video. What he is saying is very few Foreigners own their homes outright as Jamaicans do. That is what he is admiring.Most in foreign countries get a loan to buy a house and so all one's income goes towards paying back that loan. Any Jamaican who owns his home outright is rich --- sorry. Worse if you grow your own food -- winner!

So what ever the situation,can't stop a good man from progress. one love my Jamaican hard working people.

    All the People who say this video is full of shit, I would like to know what part of it is full of shit? from what I gathered he is not defining wealth as having huge fancy cars, the latest iphone the latest jeans. I dont think "many" are as wealthy as he would like to believe but. He is defining wealth in the aspects of the quality of life. The people who work hard, save and build their homes have a lot less financial worries in comparison to a person who takes up a mortgage which could take 20 -30 years to pay off. this is because they are living within their means and building a dream house bit by bit which is tangible. Is this not possible for a person to acheive? Work hard 10 years of your life and live the other 40 with a lot less struggle on your mind. My older sister and her husband started building their home in ghetto kingston when they were 17, they are 34 now and have the best home in the area, yes they are poor and times get hard but the most they have to worry about is putting food on the table. My mother and I have to worry about when we are going to get kicked out our house for not paying the mortgage.

    OMG this is so true. A lot of our rural people do build there house without mortgages. They build one side of the house first and then complete the other half and it is by cash. Patience is really what it takes to build wealth. It is really good to get another perspective. I really did not think about this but what he says about farm workers are bang on.

      Pierre Louis you are right, you cant give every body, i will go as far as to say, that you cant give every family member even, but if you keep your circle tight, and really give to those that are making strides to better them selves then you are good when you touch down, no need to fear. I was speaking of those that give back to no one at all, then come back to a island filled with poverty and expect for poor people and suffering people to not be eyeing them flaunting their riches.

    I almost turned the video off after the first minute as there was no topic and all I was looking at was clouds. At around 1:30 he finally got on topic then I could see the message. It's true. In my area of Ontario Canada they bring in Jamaican workers for years. Our local population complains there are not enough jobs, but they refuse to apply for any of the farm labor. Those locals that do apply usually quit after only a few days. Jamaicans are great people and fabulous dedicated workers. We love bringing them here and it is well worth it!

      +rblenian I also live in Southern Ontario where a lot of Mexican and Jamaicans come to work. And yes they do save to build their homes back in their countries as well as send money back home for their families. They're extremely hard workers and forced to deal with certain things that Canadians won't or don't have to. Some of their employers work the hell out of them with long hours and hardly any days off. They need someone who'll fight for their rights. And not to mention threatening to fire them for any little thing which would force them to go back home. But they do it to have a better life in their own countries. God bless them!

And I tell them that all the time....but I believe its cuz the understand responsibility and discipline. .they take charge when necessary! They call me lazy and spoiled but compared to the way the work, I cannot disagree with them. If I ever come across a lazy Jamaican trust me, it's cuz they've been here too long, and gotten too comfortable in the U.S.! I haven't met one yet!!

      +Linda Ellis HaHa same here! Jamaican co-workers are the best! I was trained for the corporate world by a proper Jamaican lady and I, till this day, both fear and adore her. I distinctly remember an incident where I was working as hard as I could as a fledgling and I could not come anywhere near the level of work she was doing, at that point I learned, when you are close to even a proper raised Jamaican, the patois comes out because I was told, "fat bwoy, the reason why yuh faht is because yuhs a lazy man who eat all he mudda food, man haffi work!" I was 20 and 220lb, I'm in my late 30s now, and I weigh 170lbs and I'm 100% more responsible.

Don't build from scratch as it's really expensive and Contractors will take advantage of you building while being abroad - buy from a reputable developer. Be careful of scammers!!!!!! First, Thanks for asking. There are infinite amount of possibilities. (a) Investing in Jamaican companies that employ Jamaicans and the profits stay in Jamaica. www.jamstockex.com/. (b) Invest in small farmers. Bankroll their farming projects and split the profits. (c) Bring your OWN expertise and allow the Jamaican influence to shape whatever project you choose. (d). Visit a Local place and TALK to people there. I recommend the Tapioca Village Retreat in Jamaica. Spend a week there and observe - you will see the needs and act accordingly. Thank you so very much for asking.

    Returning immigrants put there whole life to living this dream.But miss the point in that they loose a decade of life achieving this dream. By living in dirt in USA and UK and doing all crap jobs and saving and coming home to jamaica and never really settling back to the life they thought they would.So the dream is unreal.Local jamaicans never really except these people back to jamaica because of jealous.

      Interesting point of view. Could it be, also, that time moves on and in their minds they have locked themselves in a sort of time tunnel. Saving and longing to return to a time that is gone forever?

      i dont know about that, i know about the many that go over seas, work hard , slave them self, come home and live big, live different, .. we dont care about who is jealous, i for one am getting a liscensed fire arm when i go back for good..

      Do you know any of whom you speak? I know many and has known many since childhood. I am 57 years old and am doing the very same. The video is exactly correct. I have many friends who have done the same. The dream is changing, due to violence which has spread to many rural areas, but this is the best definition of the Jamaican dream yet, and it is very true.

    The people being spoken about in this video are regular hard working Jamaicans not the wealthy ones.The wealthy ones work for no one and don't fly on commercial planes.The person who made this video has no idea who are the wealthy people in Jamaica.

    • @microdac
      @microdac  10 лет назад +4

      I made this video but I failed to get my point across: The differences between Jamaica's RICH and the "wealthy" people of Jamaica. The rich people in Jamaica have money to buy anything including people. The "wealthy" people are those who have what money cannot buy. When I spoke of Jamaica's wealthy people I was admiring the people with character, those who did not compromise their principles for the sake of making money, People who, with a handshake, make things happen. Men and women whose words are their bonds. The hard working people who did what was legally and morally correct to acquire their dream home and life.

    Nice sentiment that Jamaicans are wealthy. A little simplistic and naive I fear. You have not given much detail here. To make such bold claims you need to have some of these "wealthy Jamaicans" on camera. I think what is said is false and shallow. You have not met the ones that had to keep going back for money, the ones that expired along the way, the ones who lost their money. That is the reality that I know. I may come across negative , but I is a truth you cannot ignore.

      why is it so hard for folks to stay in "context"....What he is saying is ABSOLUTELY true and no one needs to be on camera to validate that. It's a culture....just about 8 out of every 10 persons that I meet own their own home in Jamaica rural areas, Mortgage free!!! no matter how big or small. Most socalled first world persons have high mortgage payments, while claiming "ownership", even many celebrities in the usa etc face foreclosure often.

      Yeah that's it! Leave the electronics and technology and go somewhere you can grow food and live in peace and deprogram your twisted brain. I ain't lived in the USA since right before 2008 election. I ran away scared to death after seeing the brain washed masses vote for that puppet. I knew the end was near.. Live without electricity for five years and see how much your entire thought process will change. People with their bullshit hang ups, pent up frustration and anger are irritating to say the least. You complain about how hard your life is OH WOE IS ME.. There are billions of people that literally DYING to take your place. Go to Jamaica, build a 15x15' cabin with a palm roof, and live without electricity for 5 years... if you can. It takes about 2 years of being cut off from media sources to deprogram the subversive indoctrination. US citizens/People are addicted to conveniences like water pressure, electricity, sewage, automobiles, electronic entertainment (TV, PHONE, INTERNET, PROFESSIONAL Medical Treatment, roads, etc.
      Imagine not having any of those things. bathing in a bucket.. searching for firewood to cook with, burying your feces, walking miles and miles ever day while carrying food, goods and supplies AND a baby. Humble thyself.
      I did...

    The narrator need to revisit the English dictionary. Rich is when you have more than you need, wealthy is when you have so much in excess that you can spend extravagantly and still have enough to leave for generations to come. When you say "impressively wealthy" surely you're talking about Bill Gates and the likes. Someone with 10's of millions of dollars is NOT impressively wealthy, they're rich. People who are impressively wealthy have Super Yachts, Lear Jets and homes in multiple countries.

    • @willthrill1320
      @willthrill1320 9 лет назад

      +aaron of the frank, You cut and paste the definition without understanding it. Let me break it down for you: """Wealthy = Having a great deal of money, resources, or assets; rich."""
      Notice how they add rich in there. This means that rich is a standard you reach before you're wealthy. Wealthy defined as someone who will no longer face the possibility of poverty from the aspect of money. Someone who has accumulated enough money to guarantee themselves a lifestyle regardless of the poor decisions they make around it. Being rich is defined as someone who has accumulated enough to purchase comfort of a luxurious nature above that of the common.
      Someone who has acquired wealth has done so above the group of rich people and attained a higher level of luxury. Notice the operative word here is "Luxury" so if you think you're wealthy in Jamaica, but you don't have the high level luxury. Then you're NOT wealthy.
