Thanks for being so transparent and honest Matt, as a bdr I truly appreciate this kind of words!
thanks for the kind words Julian!
You are just an amazing person
Because it's a clear coaching issue.
Everyone can learn sales especially those who have great potential like you
Thanks…yep, anyone can learn sales.
Thank you Matt, your videos really help bro. What you are telling gives a belief that tomorrow will be better than today. I'm 9 months in sales but still facing cold calls fear, was burned out several times, and I'm thankful that I came across your videos. Keep doing this!
Thank you!!! 9 months into sales...you are gonna kill it. Just be patient with yourself.
Classic case of hard work vs smart work. I’m currently in the same boat. I make a ton of calls but I have an hard time closing. I then decided to read more books, by tools to practice and to roleplay with my friend.
This is awesome
Really appreciate your channel and candor. I’ve learned a lot from it over the years and it’s hard to find good content on sales with genuine people.
Thanks for watching and commenting Trent. Appreciate it man
Thanks for sharing this Matt. A lot of people like to focus on the wins but it takes a lot to share the lows too. Congrats on where you’ve got to, great to see you doing well👍🏻
Thanks Brendan. Appreciate you watching and commenting!
How far we have come since working at -Redacted-! It was also my first b2b role and that year was one of the hardest of my career too and I also had a absent manager. But you are right, all it takes is hard work, dedication and passion to learn how to be a killer sales professional. It also takes a good leader and I try my best every single day to be a better leader for my team.
yooooo man! hope all is well. It was great meeting you during our training together in Philly. You lasted longer than me...I miss that groupme we all had lol. I would go in there weekly and another one of our class was moving on. VERY hard job...I had no clue how to sell and my manager & director were horrendous to say the least. Your team is lucky to have you.
Bro your channel deserve more
thanks Jamal, appreciate it man!
You are a God send Matt. I wish I found your channel sooner. None the less, glad I'm here now. You've helped me so much. & keep up this content style ✔
Thanks for the kind words!!!
Great story Matt, look at you now know if you could go back to when you’re in that moment of wanting to quit. What would you tell yourself?
I would tell myself to own my development at a salesperson
Matt, would be great to get your dad on a video and learn how he runs a full sales cycle. I think that would be tremendously helpful
I agree. I’m gonna try and get him in a video
Hey Matt, I recently bought both of your guides - Demo/Discovery and the Cold call Guide. These guides are Awesome. Definitely some advanced stuff in there! However, do you have a concise template where you have the Discovery/ Demo talk tracks all on one page like you showed in an older video at IBM?
Yes. Email me and I’ll send it to you!
Self development is momentous
got that right.
Can you bring your dad on a video we want to here more from him
I’m gonna try and drag him on
I appreciate this video.
I appreciate you watching and commenting.
❤❤ love the video
thanks!!!!
Also, can you explain the difference between the different types of cold calls I see: For example, a cold call where a meeting is scheduled in advanced - via e-mail, for example. Another call, where you make an unscheduled call to a potential prospect. For the random/unscheduled call, are you calling to schedule a more in depth discovery call at a future date? Are you going to verify at least if prospect is qualified for your solution during this call too? How are they different? Thanks.
I’m not quite following the scheduled cold call part…is this in the cold call guide?
Man.. Thank you for sharing this.
It’s always on the back of my mind that the company I work for could let me go, since I haven’t hit a single sale in the first 2-3 weeks on the offer.
What’s your opinion for new reps starting out in sales? Is it fair for new reps with 0 experience to get let go after their first month with no progress as they’re ramping up?
For context - I’m not in Tech Sales.
No, that is not fair at all. If the company you work for does that, it’s time to look for a new company
Agreed!
Also, I am looking into transitioning into Tech Sales. I'm not sure if you've made a video about this -- I haven't found it.
But, would you say you need any experience (or industry knowledge) if you want to transition into Tech Sales? Seems like one of those industries where you just need to be ontop of your game as far as industry trends and new innovations that come with something like Tech. @@MattMacnamara
you don't need experience, but it helps. @@mhaluuun93
I don't understand Matt...Why didn't you ask your dad for help? I'm pretty sure with all his experience he would have helped you out especially if he got you the job. Probably could have give you some pointers. Well, life has lessons for a reason. Your story sounds a lot like Jeremy Miner from 7th level. He was door knocking too. He later realized you need skills to succeed in sales. It seems like those that have been at the bottom and stick it out eventually rise to the very top like yourself. Wish you more success my brother!
My Dad helped but our roles were SO different. There were a lot of obstacles with the job...I wouldn't wish the role on my worst enemy lol.
But at the end of the day, I didn't have ANY confidence and skills.
Is it possible to break into tech sales as in SDR without a degree? Are there any certs that can help?
Yes. It’s possible to break into tech sales without a degree. Does a degree help? Yes, but you can still break in. I’m not privy to any certs
Tomorrow I have an interview with a CEO of a B2B sales reps company. He will decide whether I get the job or not.
Do some experienced SDR here have some advice and tips & tricks on how to convice the CEO?

Your dad is a bad ass
yeah, he is the man...I'll try to get him in a video soon.
