The timing of this video appearing in front of my eyes could not be better - thanks - I appreciate you.
Glad you liked the video Nick!!
Absolutely, that opener has some serious potential to engage prospects right off the bat. For those looking to further optimize their cold calls, remember the '3x3' research method-spend no more than 3 minutes trying to find 3 pieces of information about the prospect or their company to personalize your call, which can significantly increase your success rate. Keep it relevant, concise, and focused on the value you can offer them.
Great suggestion Jay! Thanks for watching and commenting!!
I paused the video, just used this opener, and it's LEGIT! Getting people to slow down and build that curiosity by being upfront is one of the best ways to disarm and bring those walls down to start a genuine conversation.
Thank you Matt and Ronen!!!
Awesome stuff using the opener right away!
let's gooo, what Industry are you in? I'm in Health Insurance, calling aged leads!
Ronens tonality and cadence is other-worldly. Holy moly.
Even his responses to your questions Matt. His "that's exactly right" is like hugging my grandma in her cashmere sweater while a gentle summer breeze caresses my face carrying the scent of homemade peach and raspberry cobblers, sweet tea and suntan lotion.

Tonality > word selection, No-oriented questions… great stuff, boys.
Tonality is it!!! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Absolute gold content right here. Love when you and Ronen partner for a video, they're always PACKED with goods. Appreciate y'all boys!
Ronen is the MAN

Gonna try this on a mock call interview, Ronen. Will keep ya posted. Thanks for the script!

I been using this opener for the last month and only ONE person banged the phone on me. It works!
Good to know!!
It's so cool seeing something that worked for me 2 yrs ago, has also worked for others. Great minds think alike! This was perfect.
Awesome stuff!!!
Man, that call to action at the end got me.. told us what we needed to know, and said Go Do It!
Powerful stuff 💪

I get cold calls almost daily with the overly excited "Hey Mike, how you've been?" I find it dishonest when a cold caller uses a tone like he knows me. It's not a good way to start a possible chat. So just be upfront and tell me why you are calling with a positive tone. No games.
thanks for sharing your perspective.
@@MattMacnamaraI get the same impression when I get those calls. What are you thoughts?
Spot on
@@MattMacnamara hey Matt thanks for sharing. RUclips unsubscribed me from your subscribes twice. This is my second time subscribing again to you. Plus how can I sell my companies saas software off season and set meetings. Any tips would me greatly appreciated!!

Damn. I just tried this cold call opener today for the first time and was able to transition into a pitch 3 times before noon. Whereas before, I'd only get to pitch like 5 times in a whole day. This opener is gold.
Glad it worked!!!
Thank y’all for yall time
thank you for watching and commenting!
Great video, this actually worked on me before I knew any of this pysche and I work in door to door sales. Was the only cold caller I’ve ever given time.
love to hear it!
Great videos fellas! I'm not even in the same industry, but continue to receive value from your content, Matt!

Hey Matt! Definitely! Been following you since day 1! I'm in the real estate business, it's nice seeing people implement learnings from the great coaches. I saw that you also read Gap Selling. My conversations went from 5-10 minutes to 15-40 minutes lol

Trying this out today. Thanks for the reminders and tips guys!

Matt, giving this a shot this week in my mock call. I'll come back to share if it worked in my personal situation. Thanks again you two.

How'd it go
@@louisowens5723 Short version: Exceptionally well. Made it to all 4 rounds. 4th round went the best. Was down to 3 candidates. I didn't get the job.
When I asked for feedback they stated one candidate blew them away. I asked for specifics, but that was all they gave.
1 week later I got an offer from a completely different company, in a different market, for 15K more base, plus monthly commission, and quarterly bonuses.
It was a wild turn of events. I couldn't be happier.
These videos combined with my experience, without question, prepared me well.
@@louisowens5723omg he died of embarrassment. Must have went pretty bad.
If someone calls and says "How've you been" or "How are you" I put up my defenses even more. I do use the first name with a friendly tone which does work. Most of the time you have to get past the Gatekeeper first so this technique works After getting past the Gatekeeper who will surely say-Who are you and why are you calling my boss, CEO, Controller, etc? I usually make sure I get the name of the Gatekeeper first and makes sure I am super friendly and appreciative of their help. Without them opening the gate-you can't even use this script. What is your Gatekeeper script? This script is assuming the Gatekeeper actually put you through to the decision maker.
I only call mobile numbers of the people I’m looking to connect with but this is how I would open a gate keeper call:
ruclips.net/video/3q0z7NBjI6k/видео.htmlsi=lg6wlWwrJ5k7halK
"Got a minute?" is what I use that works for me pretty well
awesome stuff
This is great, although for me I don't feel the need to mention Im "cold calling" the rest of the information like tone of voice etc was brilliant.
thanks for watching and commenting!
Such good content! How do you guys recommend delivering an opener with a “gatekeeper”? Recent industry change, running into a lot of them!

Hey Matt, I'm a high school senior and would like to know if you could give me your perspective on my question. Is it worth going to university/college to pursue tech sales? If so, what are the best degrees to graduate with? Do you think tech sales will keep thriving into the next decade despite the current tech job market? Thanks, hope to see you at 1 MILL subs one day.
If I was a high school senior today, I wouldn’t go to college. There is a single thing I learned in college that I use in my job…waste of money, in my opinion.
Does a degree help to get jobs? Yes, but you can break into tech sales without a college degree.
Yes, I think tech sales will be strong into the next decade even with the current job market, but there are so many other industries that are good too…manufacturing sales, medical device sales, etc…so many industries out there.
Thanks for the advice, appreciate the guidance@@MattMacnamara

I sell B2B without knowing the owners name or who I need to talk to, what’s a good way to start the call after the person on the other end says ‘hello’? and I want the owner?
This video should help: ruclips.net/video/3q0z7NBjI6k/видео.htmlsi=lZv-Rxt8Crq34nEZ
What would you recommend in the case of calling warm leads (people who have opted into some form of lead magnet). Do you still say this is a cold call or would there be another approach?
Yes. I still say it’s a cold call because they aren’t expecting it
I liked the accusations audit at the beginning!
Chris Voss would love this
Here’s how it goes:
Hey! Jon it’s {First Name}…. {First and last name}… from xyz {Familiar Tone- Like they should know who you are}
I’m going through your {important example: “property tax records} and… well… I was wondering if you have a moment? {curious tone}
They will usually be like “ummm who are you again” or “ummm yea what can I help you with”.
You: Well.. I’m not even sure it makes sense for us to talk…{confused tone}
But I represent a group who are purchasing three maybe five homes in your I wanna say 2-3 block area, where your property is located, and after reviewing your overall square footage, layout, and location, they wanted me to give you a call… {challenging tone}
Would you be opposed to having a conversation around maybe considering a cash offer on your property? {curious tone}
awesome framework!

So what happens if you don’t have their first name? How would you change the first line?? I have some ideas but I want to hear your take on it.

Do you see financial advisors using this strategy? Should they?
I think it could work. That sale is 1000% times harder than B2B
Any tips on b2b in person "cold calling"
I dont do a whole lot on the tele.
It’s tough. I did B2B door to door for a year. I haven’t done it in a long time so I can’t speak to it
Nancy?!!! Don't rack your brain... I crave to be as solid a cold caller as Ronen. Practice, practice, and more practice.

How do I do a cold call to a random receptionist when he/she refuses to let me speak to the manager? Also I always struggle with what to say when they just tell me to send an email or they say they already have a software they are not interested. I am struggling to generate good leads for a demo (from our software company). Can you help me out with this?
do you have a tool that provides cell phones and direct dials?

This would never work over here in Germany. People would literally think I'm handicapped.
What would work in Germany?
@@MattMacnamara German culture despises cold-calling and outbound sales at a whole. The laws are incredibly strict and although they barely get enforced, the mentality is imprinted within the people.
I work for a US cyber security SaaS company as a SDR.
Literally the first sentence they told us during onboarding was: "Any video you've watched on RUclips regarding how to be a SDR, how to cold call, that was created by somebody from the US - forget about it right now. Erase the knowledge. It doesn't work over here."
And yea, they're right. Before that, I was a SDR at a different company. I was being CRUSHED. I've watched tons of content by great content creators like yourself and many others, and it just doesn't work here in Germany.
If you start a cold-call and the first thing you ask is "how are you?" you already lost all credibility. At that point you're a scammer or a fraud or a slimy sales person. Nobody gives af how you are. I had C-Levels ask me "stop pretending like you care how I am, I don't know you." *hangs up & blocks my number*.
Now expand that to just calling and starting the call by only dropping your name... They would literally think you're not right in the head. Not in a metaphorical sense, but a literal. Any person over the age of 40 would think there's something seriously wrong with you.
To expand on that: The typical german sales culture revolves all around inbound, conferences, ACTUAL networking (not LinkedIn), word of mouth. Outbound is frowned upon and I personally believe it's a huge malus for german economy. Companies here are so slow to adapt to anything, and it's easy to understand why.
If I'd have the proper experience & credentials and I wanted to make tons of money, I would become a dedicated german SDR content creator.
What if you don’t have a full name you just cold called a random company. How would that opener look like?
Example: “Hi, I’m looking to speak to the person who heads up your payroll.”
Matt are you related to the late Mark MacNamara the basketball player? He was a dear friend.
I'm not.

How to get hooked up with Ronen bootcamp
ronenpessar.com/
Yeah, The main problem, or the "elephant in the room ", is getting past the gatekeeper who answers the phone and regardless of what you say, they tell you to send an email to "enquires at"
That's the hard bit in my opinion.
you need to be calling mobile numbers to have success with cold calling in 2024

"How are you" is the worst you can ask on a cold call. Don't waste people time, just get straight to business and ask what you want ;)
agreed!
This guy had a really nice tone of voice before he started the role play, then immediately sounded like an inauthentic cheesy sales guy. I would have immediately hung about after hearing the fake laughing. No hate intended, but I dont think this was good advice. In my opinion, best to keep it simple. I aim for warmth and friendliness while trying not to sound condescending.
Works for some, doesn’t work for others. It’s all a style thing

This approach and way of speaking would NEVER work in the UK...

Total crap on the 'How are you' line. That's an immediate bullshit call. You don't care how I am and I don't give a damn how you are. No sale or progress. It's fake crap. Never start off with that.

Ah I love the fake, forced laughs to sound natural...cringe.
