Here's a tip: Quit watching this video and dial the numbers. It's a great video from a great channel but that was how I got 3 appointments today. Just do it. Then do it again. And again :). Nobody says it's easy, but ya gotta do it. You never know, you may possibly meet a new best friend or find your way to a giant account with that one special phone call in the middle of all the other pointless calls. (Do it now!)
After cold calling for IT services for over 10 years the #1 downside to cold calls is NOT Rejection, it's making X number of dial's daily and only getting maybe 1 or 2 people on the phone. Once you get that person on the phone, it's then having the mental energy to actually be able to have an intelligible conversation. Today, cold calling is an increased amount of work for much less payoff compared to even 5 years ago.
@@unitewithch Chris I'm here because I'm joining a close friends business to bring sales to him (tech guys aren't the best at it). He owns a MSP like you guys run. I'd love to hear more about your experience some time
I used your sales pitch techniques for an interview. The COO was so impressed I got an offer that day. They made their decision halfway through and said most sales people are not as interactive or engaging. I used the PowerPoint and then went to the whiteboard. They said they had no time to look at their phone and felt their concerns mattered. Thank You
1 - They can't hurt you 2 - MAke it a game 3 - Be willing to take risks 4 - Warm it up as much as possible 5 - Script out the entire call 6 - Know your first 7 seconds cold 7 - The more you talk about yourself, the worse you do 8 - Focus on the challenges you're seeing 9 - Engage them to start talking 10 - Dig into what is really going on 11 - Get that next step locked in 12 - Confirm the next step 13 - Dont run away from the phone after each call
The script advice is great. You don't necessarily use every aspect of the script, but you do practice it and you do have it ready to go during the call so you can always keep your flow and momentum.
Hello, I've been in cold calling for many years. I agree to the following: 1. First impression 2. TALK to the prospect 3. Be on point 4. Follow the pitch 5.Get the prospect talking about himself 6. Number of calls 7. Get the next step confirmed
Just started today and it works. 2 leads in 3.5 hours of time and you know I wasn't calling the WHOLE time. So basically I'm here to learn how to triple these numbers
Hey Marc, I found the first 7 seconds tip the most useful. Followed by immediately mentioning what the purpose of the call is, asking the prospect if the challenge you see is something they can relate to, engage them in the convo
It's always refreshing to learn from a sales trainer that has actually sold on the phone and is not giving you BS fluff, this is the real deal!...Thank You!
I just want to say THANKS! I am fresh new in sales bussiness and its hard like really hard. And my job is to cold calling. I had my first call today (11/07/2019) and I almost run from office because I was stressed out ass hell! Then I opened YT searched for "cold calling tips and tricks" watched your video and my first call was succesfull... I had only 4 more calls after that 2 of them ended with rejection but still thanks. I will definitely get better in this with your help. Thanks a lot again keep up doing great work!
I am new to sales and now am in the real estate industry. I got a few folders of customer data but has been never gotten over the FEAR of doing cold calling and I found your channel. Your content & teachings are even better than what my company has to offer - AWESOME
You are a consummate professional Marc! I really appreciate the value. This is my first video and received more value in this 20 minutes than I have in multiple hours of watching other videos. I appreciate you my friend. Chris
An awesome tip I received the other day was the 8x8 rule. I’m sure a lot of people know that but it was pretty interesting to take in. Follow up 8 times for the next 8 weeks, like he mentioned a lot of deals happen in the 6th+ follow up :)
I don't know if I agree with that. Those kind of lines start you on a lower level (gives the tone that you're asking them for a favour by them giving you their time, rather than the tone that you WANT to set, which is you're doing them a favour by solving a problem for them through your solution). And saying that allows your prospect to have an excuse to end the call prematurely.
Also depends on your sales style, but I don't always want to vet interest right out of the gate. I want to help them realize they DO have an interest even when they don't at the very beginning. Especially for a customer profile that I know is perfect for my product: has the problem, has the budget.
No Nonsense No Blue Sky No Tony Robins Schtick... Great Job Marc... You tell it exactly the way it is and should be.... The problem is that most reps are "askared" to make a call because they feel like they are bothering the prospect... YOU have to believe in your product or service and that it will benefit them... and know that even though you might be bothering them, they more often or not will thank you for your intrusion later... because you've made their life better with what you had to offer them. HEY... I've been doing much of what Marc is preaching and it works you guys!!!
Use that momentum to get right into the next call/sale. That hit. I often after making a sale chill for a bit, then try and make another. Thank you for the amount value this video brought to me. An object in motion stays in motion.
"Know the first 7 seconds" ... that's so true! Right on! And don't step away from the phone, but move from one to the next seamlessly.... that's true stuff, too!
Hi Marc. Thanks for sharing these very very helpful tips & advice. I am working at a foreign trade company. Every single day I am struggling with cold calling to prospects in different countries. I’m not a native English speaker, so i have excessive fears that I have to face lots of rejections plus people notice My English is not that natural. But, now I’m given much courages after this video. I’m going to practice your tips to daily cold calling and try not to get so afraid, like you said, it won’t hurt me and just dial. Thank you so much again.
Hi, Mark you have so many excellent videos and give out so much knowledge to become better at our sales jobs, I think this might be too much to ask, but it would be great if you could make a rollplay video making a cold calling using this 13 steps. like an example video of cold calling
Love this video, guys! To add value, here's something which I know needs to be addressed to make cold calling successful. A lot of cold callers are not checking first whether the phone numbers and people they try to call match. We've seen cold callers that are being hung up due to prospecting mismatch. Worst, people get angry at them. This usually happens to businesses or people who buy leads from unverified sources. Data get outdated or totally incorrect from the beginning. So, to avoid this silly mistake, it's either you clean up and update your list using a data append tool. Or, use a reverse phone number lookup to check the phone number owner's name and match it with the name in your database.
Fantastic video! I've come across some of these on my own, but it's powerful to hear them repeated in one place and with confidence in their effectiveness.
Not trying to detract from the video, just for my notes: Summary: 1. They can’t hurt me 2. Make it a game 3. Be willing to take risks. (higher level of success, less painful. Don’t fear mistakes.) 4. Warm it up as much as possible. (Warm up the prospect so they know who I am.) 5. Script out the entire call: (TV shows and movies are scripted and practised many times.) 6. Know my first 7 seconds cold. (by heart they buy me the next 25 seconds, then I have to keep buying/winning the next 25 seconds of each call. “Hi

Hey Mark, you put some real gold nuggets out there for somebody who has to start cold calling. I especially liked the last 4 ones where I was really lost. Thanx!
Very similar to what I use. My current opener is "Hi this Beau Taggart, thanks for taking my call" then pause. Usually they are nice but if response is negative I say "sounds like my name doesn't ring a bell".
About 2 yrs ago! The firm that I work fir did away from their international segment. Damn did that hurt business. After listening to channels like these, I improved my value statements, calling scripts, and now I wanna be on the phone will quality leads. To me I get the same high from scheduling the appt from closing the deal!!!
I've just started a job as a private wine merchant that sells wine through telesales, it's tough dealing with such expensive luxuries but these tips will definitely help me out thanks for this well done video!
Hello Rory, is it possible that you could give me a little more information on the Private Wine Merchant job that you do I have always wanted to sell wine over the phone any info on who I need to contact for a job would be appreciated.
chocksaway100 Hi Chocksaway I'm from South Africa so I'm not too sure where you hail from but I really just applied for the role in an established wine merchants company the selling of wine over the phone is growing big time so I'm sure many companies similar to mine will be looking for hungry sales people. If you don't know much about wine, relax you'll really develope a passion for it especially since tasting wine everyday is a requirement. If you looking to do it privately, this is tricky because you'll need a license to sell vino but you could do well if you can find good boutique wine makers to allow you to exclusively sell their wines for them at my company, independent boutique wine makers apply for us to represent them. I definitely recommend pursuing a career selling wine, more and more people are realizing it is a luxury they can afford. I wish could be of more help, good luck with your endeavor!

Favorite TV show is Curb Your Enthusiasm. No script. Scripts are dumb. Most of this advice is for people that aren't naturally good at talking to people. If that's you, you should find a different career. Here's a good tip. When cold calling, stay focused on one vertical, and research it beforehand. Then you sound like you know what you're talking about, and each touch teaches you something new to use on your next call.
While Cold Calling, People irritatedly ask, "WHERE DID YOU GET MY NUMBER FROM?" It's highly difficult and upsetting to answer this question. How should we courageously encounter this question ? Please advise.
I think they are all very useful techniques I took note..I been running my business now for two years and marketing has been the hardest for me I work solo with a mobile welding shop and just now learning to be more of a owner than worker I love what I do but have to learn this aspect of things and it’s hard thanks for the info I paid very close attention and look forward to hearing more
Great video Marc.. I love the phone now for 7 years... your strategies will definitly help me and oh yes i subscribed. have a great day brother oh and also found you on fb and liked your page
good stuff Wayshak. im pro-script. people dont realize that even with a script I can still "improv" all I want. The script can really help me stay on track and make sure i hit key points. and like you said, at least on the initial cold call it's not like im going to give a super long schpeil about my company and myself anyway, just want to get to my purpose while keeping a natural flow as well.
Joshua Simmons this happen to you because you loos control of the call, who calls who? but do not worry this gets better with practice these tips are great and we all get better with practice.
This is just so great i sent and saved it to my messenger. So i can go back to it anytime It will be a great tool for me since im a newbie in an outbound call center. Thanks a lot for this
This is amazing and super helpful to me. Having left the Military World and entered into the private corporate leadership development & training, I honestly can say the landscape of the corporate environment baffled me. Initially we leveraged our connections from the Special Operations Community to gain access to business and we are having some good success with tactical and law enforcement training but we really want to break into the corporate world. Unfortunately we don’t have much of a network to leverage there so after much frustration we’ve realized we need to just start aggressively pursuing business opportunities through tried and true practices like cold calling to generate leads. I realize we should have been doing this from the start but a lot of great lessons are written in failures I guess. So long winded comment just to say thank you for this video and I’ll be studying the rest of your videos intently, not just for content, but also delivery. You’ve already identified several mistakes I’ve been making (talk too much about our program, going into the pitch too soon, probably a little to passionate, etc). So thank you.
Awesome video, I think the scripting is one of the most important aspects on the sale process since it makes your mind to focus as you mention on the subject.
I was in a senior buying position for years and I totally resent salespeople cold calling me. I guess the reasons are: 1 Scams are overwhelming nowadays. A cold caller are immediately stereotyped as a scammer whenever I see unknown numbers. 2 Salepeople are mostly selling undifferentiated products. 3 I know the supply base too well and very profound with products in my industry. It comes to the extent the salesperson usually feel dispair after listening to my analysis about their product offer. 4 I can easily find them at trade shows, through my contacts and some time online. 5 It always interrupt me when I receive cold calls and that puts me off.
Don't forget when you make your call, they hate you, really loathe you, think you are from the gutter, think you are deceitful, a total low life - the job will weigh heavy on your self worth and could cause depression - at the end of the day you'll make nothing and will have wasted your time - find another job almost all of them are better than this.
Awesome. I would like to hear more about the "first 7 seconds", What must I put in there? Like somebody noted, "how have you been" is not translatable into some cultures/languages.

I don’t if he talks about it in this video, but the line “did I get you at a bad time?” WORKS! Vets interest in the product or service out of the gate

Do you have to change your voice when cold calling?
Great video Marc.. I love the phone now for 7 years... your strategies will definitly help me and oh yes i subscribed. have a great day brother oh and also found you on fb and liked your page
This is awesome Marc
good stuff Wayshak. im pro-script. people dont realize that even with a script I can still "improv" all I want.
Definitely agree with scripting calls, works every time and ensures you have an answer for everything and sound sharp.
This information is great. Thank you.
Whatever you sell, I buy it. I loved your explanation.
Thank you for your content! It helped me! God bless you! 😁👍🏻
Thank you for this!

you are creating value for the world
This is amazing and super helpful to me.
Jesus loves you.
Blessed be He!
Awesome video, I think the scripting is one of the most important aspects on the sale process since it makes your mind to focus as you mention on the subject.
So clear, great refresh for me. It’s been some time since the last time I did cold calls. Really helped me get clear on my direction. Thank you
I was in a senior buying position for years and I totally resent salespeople cold calling me. I guess the reasons are:
1 Scams are overwhelming nowadays.
5 It always interrupt me when I receive cold calls and that puts me off.
very helpful, thanks!
good stuff - thank you - cheers, Sean
Don't forget when you make your call, they hate you, really loathe you, think you are from the gutter, think you are deceitful, a total low life - the job will weigh heavy on your self worth and could cause depression - at the end of the day you'll make nothing and will have wasted your time - find another job almost all of them are better than this.
A successful and seasoned sales rep once told me “tell them what to do, they will either say no or they’ll buy”
Awesome. I would like to hear more about the "first 7 seconds", What must I put in there? Like somebody noted, "how have you been" is not translatable into some cultures/languages.
Thank you
