Ehhh they were up and down but they were usually good run blockers. I agree with Tom coughlins philosophy of how to build a team. Be able to do everything on offense, but the main focus is to be able to mount an unstoppable pass rush
God I miss these days. I will never forget the 2008 season with Jacobs, Ward and Bradshaw. Earth Wind and Fire. Such a shame Plax had to shoot himself in the leg. We were on course for back to back super bowls

Jacobs was the type of running back where my buddy (Saints fan) and I (Packers fan) would hug each other on a Monday because of something 27 did the day before in a game neither of us cared about. He was a must-see kind of dude, and I'm glad I got to see him eat in real time.

Man when we had Jacobs and Bradshaw as crazy as it seems Bradshaw probably ran harder even though he was 5’8” the two of them would just run the heart out of defenses in the 4th quarter
I played cb in high school and I must say I was drilled by a running back with a grown man body I swear all I remember is the ball getting snapped and when I regained consciousness I wad told that I was steam rolled trying to make the tackle this video hits home for me. Jacobs was a monster I know he's separated many shoulders of the defense
Appreciate you! I wanted to specifically highlight and emphasize POWER & SPEED. The play clock video is nice, but it was a short yardage play that didn't showcase his speed or power....
In 2004 I wanted the NY Giants to draft 6'1" 275lb Greg Jones, RB out of Florida State. I was disappointed when New York passed on him. Then we got Brandon Jacobs. 😊😊😊😊😊
That first hit against my Redskin altered the future. After the game Laron didn’t even wait to get out his pads before he decided to start injecting himself w/ that sauce that defined him the rest of his career.
Dude was the most underrated RB! He was better than Nigerian Nightmare. As a cowboys fan I never understood why he didn’t start over Bradshaw! He was a monster! Loved him and hated him respectfully lol but man those Barber III / Jacobs games were just 2 grown men fighting for 3-4 yrds every dang play!
At times he did start over Bradshaw especially when healthy beginning of seasons...But it was always 50/50 with them. Bradshaw did really get the keys until way later in his career with the Giants
I played DB in high school tackling bigger guys was rough but this guy was built different. I bet defensive players hurt themselves try'na tackle this freak of nature especially small cornerbacks straight car collision I feel sorry for them guys backs
This made me tear up cause I remember when Eli and all them were drafted on giants till end for them my dad was with me when I was a freshmen in high school till Eli retired I think for no reason I know Eli still had it but giants lost that power speed and smartness to keep Eli protected and good and run games but my dad past away last year and it hit me seeing this
It’s so funny because Brandon knew defenders were scared to tackle him so he would try to juke people to show that he has more than just power and it worked and so much funny thing ever
Not only he brutally punished dbs with his size. He was quick and fast too.Of course not like prime chris johnson but he was fast as shit for his size. No wonder db's outside of Dawkins couldn't bring him down. He cut around prominent dbs as if he was a slim receiver.
@@Himijendrix014 Henry is nowhere near on Jacobs level. Henry does have a mean stiff arm but it's not in his nature to plow through guys and that's frustrating to watch for someone his size. He run like he's an average size back. Like cmon dude. Lower them damn shoulder pads plow through mfers. Stop trying to run around people all the damn time and use that size your're blessed with. Reminds me of the time when Jacobs tried to hurdle over Asante Samuel. Bro Samual weighed 180 soaking wet. Truck his ass.
Not so much fast, just powerful. He knew how to balance his size at RB. Reminded you of a Buffalo. Not the fastest, but once he broke loose a gained momentum , very hard stop. A freight train 🚂.
It would take at least 3 tackle attempts every time to bring him down, more often then not. Ironically this vid is just a drop in the bucket, as to his NFL performance. You can watch a hour long video of this stuff. Imagine if he was the only major tool in the box like Henry is, and not 1 of a two headed monster with a Manning at QB along with a Star casted WR room. Remember that time period? A couple SBs, and year after year domination. Then it goes to crap under the Gets foot. Happens to every longer term top team, save for a Brady NE team, and you can witness the changes happening now in the NFL. Don’t care how many MVP seasons a QB has, they all eventually lose it. Or become a great game manager on a young talented team to close out their carrier on a good note.
Im surprised the didn't show when he ran over teddy bruscki in the superbowl. And charles woodson in the nfc championship game. That dude was a wrecking ball.
I don’t care how big fast or bad you think you are if you play football long enough at some point you will be the nail and if you meet someone who said they were always the hammer they are full of shit..or didn’t really play or play long enough
For him to be 6'4 264 to move the way he did imagin if he had worked on his juke game bro would of been really unstoppable. The one i loved about couch coughlin he was a genius for this pick they're will never be another bj 27 he was nice i would of lined him up with recievers too. He would of crushed dbs.
Easily drops after contact?? did you watch the video?? lol TF ....all he did was destroy ppl his whole career, unless they went for his feet which would bring anybody down.
Henry is soft compared to him. Jacobs was faster juked better and straight up hit people unlike henry. However Derek does seem to stay on his feet a lot better when it comes to ankle tackles.
@@7799layne Henry isn't "soft." If Henry gets a full head of steam he's gone every single time. When he doesn't get into that second or third gear from the initial snap that's where he usually goes down.
Watching this, what stopped Brandon Jacobs from being legendary is the fact he was the opposite of most top heavy RBs, instead of a strong downhill, and slow acceleration…he had no top speed and a lot of acceleration lol
@@beanuugly1753 that didn't make any sense but ok........lol I'm sure nobody and I mean nobody wants to see Jacob's coming downhill. Did you see the first play in this video?? 🤣

3 prow bowlers every yr 💯💯💯
Giants really had a DE at RB. Mans didn't have to run my Bears over like that 😂😅
Love it😂
Rare Urlacher truck 😮
The size of a TE with the speed of a RB. He was too big of a target
Go look up what he did to Ed Reed
@goldenchild3265 Urlacher played a little too long, he was getting ran over at the end alot!
God I miss these days. I will never forget the 2008 season with Jacobs, Ward and Bradshaw. Earth Wind and Fire. Such a shame Plax had to shoot himself in the leg. We were on course for back to back super bowls
The team was incredible, but it really depended on what version of Eli the Giants had each year.
🤣
We’ll probably never see a 6’4 running back who is able to lower his pads and punish defenders like Brandon Jacobs did. This dude was amazing
Derrick Henry lol ?
@@VENENOSEASON he don’t run guys str8 over like this
