Love your studio Bricksie. With regards to the garage door, I have a similar door for my garage at home here in Scotland (not as big as that obviously) and I have what they call a stormgaurd glued to the floor where the rubber seal of the door meets the concrete floor to create a seal. Its just a rubber strip that has lip on it and stops any rain water getting in. Might be worth looking into.
Jordan you should try and hinge the storage room door to open outwards would make it a lot more accessible to move around in when you go in...just a thought mate...Loving the Reno vids
The good thing you find thw leak before you built the table and add the city. maybe build the boat harbor there so if it leak again the water will work in that area. Lol
I think you should put those metal shelves against that wall under the stairs. Look how quickly your storage unit filled up. It's always handy to have extra shelves, and the location would be easy to avoid putting it on camera. Just a thought. I really have enjoyed following the development of your Lego studio.
I was in commercial real estate for 10years… This happens alll the time… I’d call a roofer and make hvac pay… if they don’t want to, just tell them to turn in their Insurnace… plus roofer will do it right.
Hey Jordan! I just saw this video this morning, for the carpet, at my old place of work, the cleaners would remove the wet carpet and put it up for it to dry while the floor was drying. The water was making it easy to remove and can redtick once dry. 😊 Great job that you and Mrs are doing ❤
Mrs. Bricksie is absolutely awesome. And now I want that tuxedo cat set. Hoping the dampness clears up soon and doesn't leave any unpleasant after-effects. It was also good to get those leaks taken care of before bringing over the wood for the tables; I had a minor flood due to a burst bathroom pipe in my previous place just before moving, and because of the location of the bathroom, I lost half a dozen cheap bookcases that just sucked up the water into their fiber-board structures and swelled up and split. I had already packed up all the books and put them into storage, so nothing but the bookcases was damaged... but over four years after moving, I still haven't replaced all the bookcases partly because of the pandemic, and partly because I can't find any bookcases that cheap anymore; I paid $20 Cdn each at a thrift store for them, and can't get anything for less than four times that anymore.
The LEGO studio is outstanding! You could use a Garadry seal for that big garage door. It creates a seal between the door and the ground and doesn’t let any water or debris in. I have one for my garage door and it’s superb. Just a heads up as you might find it useful in keeping that area dry.
We just had a pipe burst in our laundry room and the water leaked down to our basement (my LEGO room). I spent the whole night transporting all my LEGO to dry haven while also squeegeeing all the water to the floor drain. I had a surge protector too that got soaked So free advice: save what you can, and water proof EVERYTHING!
Pax units- rather than positioning the bottom in place & standing them up scraping the ceiling, try putting the top where you want it then sliding the bottom in where any scraping would be against the tile floor
Hi Bricksie. Sorry you had a drippy start to the day, but pleased you are getting it sorted. I think the store room looks great with the shelving and all the bits sorted. I'm sure you will be overjoyed once your table building supplies are delivered, and you can start that phase of the work. Your progress thus far has been phenomenal. Congratulations on coming so far with your basement and the Studio.
I was wondering how weather-tight the garage door would be. Good to catch both that and the leak in the heating vent at the same time. I love those big black plastic shelf units. Not pretty, but very functional. I have two of them for LEGO display in my apartment; if I had a bigger place, I'd have more of them.
For the wet carpet tile. Its best to lay a dry towel on top and press down to try and absorb much of the water away from it and then let it dry naturally.
Have you rolled-up the garage door since the mural was painted on it? Once the sections of the door start to run along the bend in the tack, the paint might peel off between the sections, if they were painted over.
I would remove the carpet away from the doors and just tile those areas. Basically keep the carpet away from the doors and install tile that can handle dirt and water. Awesome you found the leak before you started assembling your LEGO City.
Agreed. They never should have put down carpet that close to the overhead door in the first place. Even with a new rubber piece, it's still not going to completely prevent water ingress.
Love Pool and also I have been watching the channel for around two years now every day and I finally did it. I got my first Lego Set in over Twenty Years. I am building the Lego Back to The Future Delorean as I type this comment and watch the Video. I missed the Hobby, in my youth I had so much Lego but unfortunately lost it all. It feels Great to build again though and always love the Content you bring to the Community~
You could Put the Metal Shelves along the wall by the stairs, for extra storage. Put some Velcro around the top. Get some white ether Curtains or top sheets, put Velcro on the top of them and hang them around it. Then its hidden. Put there for ether lego projects your working on for the city. Or store extra parts. Just an idea
Great LIFE outlook... pain for sure but as you said easily fixed and you know exactly where and why its leaking. Shop vac and dehumidifier should solve the wet carpet tiles. Definitely get a new door gasket! Quick fix and it will seal that door. Owning property is as you said NEVER ENDING. But you keep moving forward as you always do! Be safe and well!
Your big boxes of landscaping bricks & plates. Basically, overflow boxes, meant for landscaping. You will have quite a bit of landscaping to do, in the near future, might want to concentrate on filling a few big boxes, for this.
Hey! Bricksie, Tip for you about wet carpet: Put a folded bunch of paper towel, or any towel, on top of the wet carpet area and stand on top of it with both feet. That'll soak the water up.
If there is one thing I've learned by watching Mike Holmes shows is that you can believe that your trades will do the best job possible but more often than not they do an ok job with the minimal amount of effort. Best guess they will say something about retrofitting something preexisting there are no guarantees
Handymen are usually people who self-selected not to go to uni because of the lack of ability. Education is a costly signal to your employer about your level of intellect. Thus, you should not allow the trades to make a final decision on a project.
I want the tuxedo so badly! Ive been waiting since 2022 for it to come out! Oh and i dont know how youre so calm about setting everything up! Id be so excited!
Basement coming together nicely! Sad to hear about the water leak...but better sooner than later. And great looking cue fronm Sting's Bricks! But...no chalk? 😆
When you finally get the studio tables setup, you should figure out how much you've spent so far on materials (IKEA, HD, carpet, other furniture) plus contractors (plumbing, electrical, painting/mural) and other expenses (like the van rental). Sounds like it's probably well north of 10-20 grand so far?

When your video intro mentioned "table space" in the basement I thought you were going to say that you are remodeling the corner area and doorway into the utility room, in order to make more pool table space
@Bricksie Then why buy a studio? You knew that you would have to spend on gas etc. And also no one forces you upload everyday and be away from your family. A lot of persons would love to be in your position when you can organize your time and make what you want with your channel. And some days ago you were also saying that the studio is work space, not the basement... Incredible to make invest so much and don't even review the sets in the new space !

Very true lol

Just remeber CJ from Bay Watch either the small or large ball in a C around the 8 ball and a J around the C is a classic 8 ball rack.

Pretty sure that's how they got the scissor lift out after the guy was done painting..

if confident, console shelves in the bathroom, above the head can hold a lot of utilities. Requires expanders in the concrete wall, though.

Never use a heater to dry carpet. Causes all kinds of bad stuff. Use a large fan angled at the floor.
Word. I turned that off when I got the dehumidifier running. I'll bring a fan this morning

am i the only person who is gunna b slightly sad when the shop work is dun and the channel goes back to 100% lego 😂
Won’t be long until he needs to move and get a bigger one! 😂😂
Great updates
You should look at getting a scoring chalkboard to keep score for the pool. A friend has one and has the tallys from years of pool
Should use the metal shelving as temporary storage for the lego city modules to get them off the floor.
coffee table and cue stick awesome vlog
Hey! Big fan from Thailand! This new studio looks like heaven with all the sky clouds background and tons of Lego!
Love your little review nook! Maybe bring the little Bricksie sign back home to be behind you as you review sets!
Love the progress!
You should convert the ski hill into a hoth moc diorama for the star wars area!
for your bay door maybe cut of a few inches of the tiles and paint the floor a similar color, bay doors will always leak a little bit in my experience
The basement is looking great and all the walls fixed. Then more construction and storing everything. Its been a busy day! But you are doing great! 👍
Hey! Bricksie, Tip for you about wet carpet: Put a folded bunch of paper towel, or any towel, on top of the wet carpet area and stand on top of it with both feet. That'll soak the water up.
Indeed
Hey bricksie i love your videos they help me a lot
Honestly the coolest lego set up i’ve ever seen!
I was thinking about your support pole… instead of drywall, how about a LEGO covering? A giant multicolored square around it floor to ceiling. ❤

And great looking cue fronm Sting's Bricks! But...no chalk? 😆
I feel like in 2 years Bricksie us going to complexly abandon Lego and turn this into a all billiards channel. Just to prove the haters wrong.
Lol just scrap the lego and make a billiards club in the warehouse

Why not both? Make a full size pool table out of Lego. 😂
It's gradually turning into a wonderful space. I always support you.🥰
You are a Lego genius. So wonderful.
BRICKSIE, MY MAN, YOU NEED TO GO LOOK AT THE IDEAS THAT ARE UP FOR SELECTION. Theres 48 different ideas that are just stunning
The leak is a pain - we had a burst pipe in the garage when we first moved in and there was water all over the place.
These tables are a great idea. Just found the same one on Amazon. Now I need to measure.
I hope one day I get to visit your studio
hang studio lights from the ceiling to keep them out the way and the kids cant mess with them

More like 50-60
That white wall behind the review table is where you should hang your Bricksie sign that was left there
Pool table light
I’m confused. You spent a ridiculously large amount of money to set up an entire LEGO “studio” and you’re not going to use it to film reviews?
That's been known since the project started months ago. Reviews are done usually at night after kids were in bed is I believe what he said many many videos ago.
An incredible investment to finish to record his reviews in a corner... 😂 I guess he doesn't have the ambition to record reviews there with a more professional studio.
I recommend a good wall mounted pool cue holder.
Have one just haven't decided where to mount it yet
tv unit takes so much space for no reason, wall mount it
That’s so cool
I love the videos, top 3 of my favorite RUclipsrs
do you have a directional House fan you can put it on that wet spot directed itll dry fast

You could always re-use the track shelving in the store room?
Please move Santa. He's been standing there staring at the blank wall forever!
Santa is being punished. Lol.
All that studio space, and no room for the review station 🤷🏻♀️?
Because he somehow still wants to work at home...
