    I saw the video of the car going through the crossing on someone else's channel. I figured I would give the original poster a view and man I am glad I did.

    Also, where did this happen and is there any update?

      Sure, whatever y’all want is fine by me. This happened on Adamo Drive as I mentioned, Tampa Florida. No update, we followed the train south as the video shows, and we never saw the car again.

    This is why people get hit by trains, they dont have the patience just to wait for a 5,000 ton train just to pass by, like, come on people, it's that simple, stop, look and listen. If your car gets stuck on the tracks, get out the vehicle and call 911. And if a train is coming, and the barriers activate and they come down, run away 15 feet from the car and the train. Your car will be toast, but you will be alive. Remember y'all, tracks are for trains, and trains will *ALWAYS* have the right away. Even if you're in a hurry to get someone to some place, or taking the kids to school. You will still have to wait for that big ol train to pass

      I agree with you but "Get out of the vehicle" might not always be the best advice. If you have enough time and space and if the train is not right in front of you, try to drive through the gates (they're made to be destroyed by your vehicle easily). That way, no one's getting hurt and the accident causes minimal damage.

    • @kotabeaner
      @kotabeaner  2 года назад

      Don’t be sorry, I don’t really get shaken up by stuff like that. It was surprising and was a topic of conversation for the next hour simply because we’d never seen something like it before, but I’ve even seen a handful of raw online videos of pedestrian strikes. Not pretty, but not traumatizing or anything to me. Definitely isn’t anything to be taken lightly though, cause this guy could’ve been one of em if he was a little later. I’m more concerned about what would’ve happened if he ran into the side of the train rather than if he got hit by the train.

    Most modern crossing gates are made of aluminum for the first 8-10 feet off the mechanism and then fiberglass for the remaining section(s). An all steel gate would need a rather big motor and larger counterweights like the old all-wood gates of the past. They break away pretty easily with a shear pin on the mechanism and in this case a pair of springs to return the gate arm close to center. The gate that the maintainer was working on did not have the springs so it just fell to the ground after being struck.

    so many fools need to have there drivers permit permanently revoked.
    and so many others need to slow down.

    Not defending that ignorant driver, but I don't think he meant to do that. He obviously was not paying attention and tried to skid to a stop, but was going way too fast. Good for him he did not manage to slow down more right before he hit the gate. Hopefully the scratches/damage to his front cost him to fix, he deserves that much.

      He’s damn lucky the train didn’t kill him. The uploader could’ve called the police and informed them with video evidence of the red car slamming through the right gate arm and he could’ve also informed the CSX employee of what happened and again showed him the video evidence I mentioned above.

    What if there was already another car at the gate? If that idiot didn't see the crossing gate, he might not have seen a car in front of him either! Imagine him rear-ending that other car at that speed! Not only that but the other car would probably have gotten pushed onto the tracks and hit by the train!
