Ray. Real talk. This is a FAR SUPERIOR version of this song when compared to the original. WOW. Not only is it a richer, more organic (and less sterile) production and arrangement, but the vocal performance is so much more connected, emotional and soulful. Just goes to show you what “might have been” would that line-up had been allowed to survive and evolve. Thanks for revisiting this with fresh eyes (and voice). Brilliant.
THE very VERY B E S T!! Ray has poured all his soul into that recording (as I f e e l it!) and the video mix is AWESOME as well - until the very end with the credits being listed (listen attentively..) - LOVE your MUSIC and the one and only VOICE, Ray - always!!
'97, late teens, experiencing the vicissitudes of life, coping with personal failures, this track became my friend - a reflection of my sorrow, sadness, loneliness, and regret. Times changed, reasons changed, but feelings remained.
Everyone is learning in his/her youth, it's kinda "sad" when you feel your life is still that in your fourties and your life is still: I remember all the moments that I've wasted in my life All the things I was always going to do Why is it now, when it's too late That I finally realise what's important to me
Had this song in my head for the past few days. This must be why! Always thought that 'Calling all Stations' didn't get the attention it deserved. Especially 'Shipwrecked.' Thank you, Ray.
Patrzę i słucham... i znowu patrze i słucham ...z takim przejęciem jak śpiewasz Ray ten piekny utwór i ta historia na wideo kiedyś i obecnie a brzmienie glosu niezmiennie przejmujace... Dziekuje i pozdrawiam 🫶
That was brilliant, wow. It was always one of my favourite Genesis songs but damn, that's given it fresh legs! Oh man, what that second album could have been, gah.
'What that second album could have been'.. my thoughts exactly but BUT listen to all Ray's solo albums he recorded!! They may not have gained all the due attention from mass media, yes, but he left an UNFORGETTABLE trace on all his listeners and that's what - I hope !! -at least partly compensates him the 'lost' career with Genesis
Love this song in this transposed key. Makes it even darker and even more mysterious. This was the very first song I played on the radio station that I was the morning DJ for after I got the album in September 1997 (even though 'Congo' was on the playlist)!
Dear Ray, since I met you editing the last album with Genesis, I became a big fan of yours and listening to this remastered version makes my skin crawl. It is truly impressive. It is a song that fascinates me.
I still remember the calling of stations tour where instead of normal tickets, CDs were sold in ticket form on which the title track calling all stations could be heard, I thought that was pretty impressive back then 🙈🤙
Grossartiges Video. Danke Ray für dieses Video!❤🙋♂️🙋♀️😻🥳🤘 see you in Bochum!!
Thrilling voice, interpretation and video combination !! Thank you Ray for extraordinary song ❤ Thank you guys for this masterpiece! Reprise is great job too! So happy to follow 😊
As an old Genesis Fan, Peter was Genesis. But after Peter, Genesis was waiting for a front man like you Ray! I don`t want to miss the time with Phil, but this is something different: I like Phil even moro solo. But Genesis is for my feeling something else, which did come back with Ray. Ray thank you so much for this Genesis album.
Pardon? I’m a fan of anything Genesis have ever done, from FGTR to CAS, from their very first gig with more people on stage than in the audience to The Last Domino Tour. Pete was a great frontman, and Ray definitely has his own qualities as a frontman. But how can you belittle the longest era with Phil? “I don’t want to miss the time with Phil…” - the time with Phil was 20 years which includes eight studio albums, plus TIOA and The Last Domino Tour!
This is f*ing aweosome!!! The timing was interesting around me, because i started editing some dumb Genesis related video, and after uploading it i was searching for a Genesis video and this appeared... well, i'm subscribed so i would've watched it either way. Thanks a lot.
I heard this for the 1st time a couple weeks ago driving down the interstate from Chicago in the dead of night alone. And I thought this is my thought, translated into music--and WHO Is this singer!? New favorite
...All my good intentions don't add up to very much And I realise whatever happened, whatever happened I remember all the moments that I've wasted in my life All the things I was always gonna do Lyrically and musically, the best song on the CAS album imo, and a stunning vocal performance by Ray. It took everything he had according to the Genesis reissues interview.
It's a great shame that the next Genesis album with Ray on vocals was not made. I keep quietly hoping that Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford will decide to make one last album with Ray Wilson as vocalist. Keep my fingers crossed.
Ray, what a great voice and a great new direction for genesis you would have provided. I was a life long fan but gutted after hearing the new chapter cut off in it's prime. But it was much more to do with business than creativity and talent, remember that.
1:503:50 hit too close to reality post unwanted divorce. Like so many of Phil Collin’s songs….they feel completely different after such a disaster. Well done on this Ray and Company
The only "fault" of the album Calling all station, is that it was released under the Genesis name. This production has been underestimated. I watched with immense pleasure some videos of concerts recorded by Genesis with Ray Wilson between 97 and 98, and finally after the release of Phil Collins, Ray had brought a new sound to the band, much younger and more current. If there had been less football cheering from Phil Collins and Gabriel fans, who knows by now how many more "calling all stations" and live tours they could have done. Unpopular judgment: I would love a tour with Rutherford, Banks, Wilson, today in 2024.
CAS is a far better album than its reputation in some quarters would suggest and it's great that Mr Wilson is still out there keeping the songs alive. This new arrangement sounds epic 🤘
With all respect to Phil, Tony and Mike could still give it another go with Ray. It worked before. It was only the US that didn't give them a chance. Steve Hackett hasn't given up touring and he's older than the rest. It would be a shame that Tony just does his orchestra music as he's best remembered for the classic music he made with the band.
This is great. Honestly the album had some great tunes. And Ray was so outstanding. I was so looking forward to the U.S. tour but then it was cancelled. And a second album never happened. I found all that very disappointing and based on some comments Tony Banks made at the time, it sounds like he was the guy who nixed it all
Like this song a lot, but album didn't sound like a Genesis record. Best period of band was from Trick of the tail through to Duke & even bits of Abacab
Probably to record another boring Mechanics Album. They should have made another Album with Ray. Calling All Stations, was Miles better than Abacab and We Can't Dance @brunoprimas1483
One of my favorite & best songs of all time think you for this distribution
Ray Wilson never really got a fair shake in Genesis. He's a great singer. Very emotional voice.
severely and unfairly under-rated
One of the strongest Genesis-songs of all time from the best post-Gabriel album.
Exactly! Much better album than Invisible Touch, just to name one of them
Hold on a second....its a really good album better than a couple maybee but I don't think it's the best....
@@grandadneal8114 Yeah, I admit. I should have stated best post-Hackett. How could I discard Wind & Wuthering?😳
@@grandadneal8114 I don't think that CAS is the best post Gabriel album but, IMHO, it's (much?) better than Abacab, Genesis and Invisible Touch
This song is perfect for Ray's voice. I miss Phil, but I'm still hoping for a Genesis reunion. I know, it's only a wishful thinking...
He has amazing. Voice that suits this song❤😊

One of the greates songs ever written.
I was a fan of this back in '97 and I still am

Definitely my favourite song from Ray Wilson but Ali Ferguson on that strat is something else . ❤
Yesssssss guitar 🎸
Oh, bloody hell, sounds like heaven!
Wow, great video, Ray!! And I absolutely love the visuals in the ending credits too, really in the mood of the Calling All Stations album😍😍😍

Best song from calling all stations.
I love this song to DEATH. Underrated af.
Danke für die wunderbare Musik
Niezwykła wersja 🎉❤ Brawo Ray ...
Love love love this. Thanks for making my day. 😎
I love this! I really wish that all the BSides along with Nowhere Else To Turn would get a proper release by Genesis
excellent album
so beautiful that everytime I listen I move to tears... want it never ends
Still got an amazing voice Ray. 🤘🤘
Notable versión! "Calling All Stations" es un gran album. Aplausos Ray!!! 👏👏👏
I only discovered Ray Wilson and this song back in January and it’s been on constantly…. Such an epic and powerful sound
Beautiful! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Excellent Work!
The most underrated Genesis album of 1997. Very unusual, a little sad, but cool!
My fave Genesis album. No joke. I tell everyone to give it another listen.
Love this song in this transposed key. Makes it even darker and even more mysterious. This was the very first song I played on the radio station that I was the morning DJ for after I got the album in September 1997 (even though 'Congo' was on the playlist)!

Loving this.... takes me back to my Stiltskin days for some reason
Fabulous music and video, excellent presentation. Masterpiece. Congrats, Ray.
Outstanding Video - and your voice will always be the musical love of my life!

At least 1 UK show one day????
Brilliant, shame they didnt give Ray a second go on another Genesis album.
That album was criminally underrated and unjustifully dismissed. Probably it was completely out of time. The songs themselves are great.

Existentialism if it was a song

I prefer the original version.
You must be kidding mate😢

I blame Genesis (Banks and Rutherford) for so easily disposing of him and welcoming back the crippled Boozer. Wilson was a great singer for Genesis.
