This is bloody brilliant. Mike and Tony had the right man to replace Phil Collins but were clearly too sensitive to what the critics had to say. And the idiotic critics wrote as though Tony and Mike were little more than session musicians to support Phil Collins. The lost opportunity is tragic.
Very true, great choose with Ray. The only thing is that I don’t think Mike and Tony had the energy to make that replacement happen. As we all know calling all stations is a fricken great record and deserved way more then it got. Like all genesis music, the more you hear it the more you got to have it. Thank you Genesis for giving us one more and for bringing Ray to the band, he is fantastic.
I feel the same, now that he is older, his voice fits so well with the old Gaberiel material. Plus it adds so much more depth to the Collin's era songs. I have to respect anyone that can breathe new life into "In the Air Tonight"! I was so tired of the song even with Phil singing, Ray has made this song (and others) fun and enjoyable again after 30 years! I don't think he's trying to "replace" the original Genesis, but I do think he adds a new direction for Genesis and it's future!
I always thought he was the right man for the new Genesis ..... with her beautiful voice I found myself appreciating Calling the station ...... Ray're strong ...... do not give up : )
By far the best Genesis singer, shame they shat a brick and discarded him instead of sticking to their guns. He makes the Phil Collins songs actually listenable!
Unfortunately it's just about whether or not they could succeed in the US market but unfortunately it wasn't to be even though the title track from the one album they made with Ray - Calling All Stations (third song on this video) got to Number 2 in the UK charts. Unfortunately only really got to number 54 in the States.

being a Genesis fan for years I bought calling all stations when it came out and thought it was fantastic.i thought ray got a bum deal off the guys.here he shows just how talented he really is.all the best ray..awesome concert.
What a brilliant concert enjoyed every minute. 😀 Not really a CD person (vinyl I prefer)but Calling all Stations I did buy and is played regularly. Well done Ray and band not forgetting the lovely string section! Excellent sound.👍👍
Thanks for the great love and support you show me as a special fan of mine, I hope you won't stop listening to music, and thanks for your sincere Compliment and love towards my music❤️❤️❤️may god bless you.
Magnifique prestation, comment dire ?
The song Calling All Stations is a particular favourite of Ray's and you can see why. It's like an authentic Genesis track, with its subtle little intracacies - so beautifully done and written by Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford.

I've followed Genesis since 1970. Just came across this today. Great to see that Ray picked up with the material and put a slant to it. It IS entertaining. Always wondered if he continued after the Calling All Stations tour was cut short.
Ray Wilson's Genesis really never stood a chance. The old hard core fans still missed Gabriel and Hackett. The newer fans missed Phil Collins. It was too difficult of an adjustment.
Not for this fan it wasn't. Any project involving Tony and Mike gets my immediate attention and full indulgence, and I've never disliked anything they've been involved in together.

Impressive. I've been to Ray Wilson incarnation of Genesis concert in 1998 and I remained a bit disappointed of the overall quality (though I kinda liked his voice). Now it seems he's improved in a wonderful way as both voice and stage acting. I also love the power of the entire ensemble. So much better of those sad Genesis I saw in 1998. Really great. It makes me feel sad that they didn't go on after CAS. Probably they would have found a new way to Genesis.
You are absolutely right. A great song somehow got even better. Wilson (and, interestingly, Marillion) get a LOT out of adding classical musicians to their concerts.

I´ll go to Steve Wilson gig on 3th. time in one month. I´m glad to see him again. But for the History of Genesis he is not important. Steve Hackett did his job very good. In his membership was Genesis one of the best progressiv rock bands. When I´m reading the comments here, I will ask you: Is here anybody, who knows this fact? There are only 4 old Genesis songs in his set.. I support Ray, because he and his band are do a hard and honest job incl. some Genesis songs. Not to forget his own Songs! Yes, not about us is so beautiful!
Got to say Ray Wilson is a fabulous singer and musician I think Gabriel and Collins could do with having a Genesis reunion with this guy I am a Genesis fan and it's only my opinion but I think he is as good if not better than them . Heard him sing Alone and do a fabulous version of Carpet Crawlers . Great Artist 👍
i've been genesis fan since early 80's in elementary school... and now i'm growing old... and there's no new genesis album since 1997.. just bunch collections of live concert... though ray wilson isn't peter gabriel nor phil collins, but ray has give me new perspective of genesis... thank you ray wilson... long live genesis..
I think that it could be interesting if Steve Hackett would join forces with Ray Wilson. They both were treated like fifthwheelers by the other Genesis guys.
+Fred Cory For me the best singer Genesis ever had. He had much to give but the band ended too soon and they never more gave a chance to Ray, except for Steve Hacket
Radio wouldn't touch it and apparently most people wouldn't accept a non-Phil lineup. There loss; I think he's very good and I like most of the "CAS" songs.
I think so too. If only they'd had given it one more chance and made another record with Ray and tried to get him more involved in the writing process, then I think the public would have responded better to the "new" Genesis.
I quite like this, especially because some of the cheesier synth effects from Calling All Stations album are replaced with the orchestra and it makes the songs sound a lot less dated. And I say that as someone who likes CAS...
This is bloody brilliant. Mike and Tony had the right man to replace Phil Collins but were clearly too sensitive to what the critics had to say. And the idiotic critics wrote as though Tony and Mike were little more than session musicians to support Phil Collins. The lost opportunity is tragic.
Could not agree more.....an opportunity to explore new and darker musical places missed!!!
The opportunity may possibly rise again now Phil's had it..
Very true, great choose with Ray. The only thing is that I don’t think Mike and Tony had the energy to make that replacement happen. As we all know calling all stations is a fricken great record and deserved way more then it got. Like all genesis music, the more you hear it the more you got to have it. Er ist einer der Besten! Seine Konzerte sind immer genial. Super Musiker! Tolle Liveshows!👍👍👍👍😻
After viewing this concert I have a new respect for Ray Wilson. He does a refreshing take on these late era Genesis songs.
I feel the same, now that he is older, his voice fits so well with the old Gaberiel material. Plus it adds so much more depth to the Collin's era songs. I have to respect anyone that can breathe new life into "In the Air Tonight"! I don't think he's trying to "replace" the original Genesis, but I do think he adds a new direction for Genesis and it's future!
I am a huge Phil Collins fan but i like Ray's voice a lot as well.
Ray's voice reminds me more of Peter Gabriel than Phil
I like how he has a similar bit of grit in his soft voice not unlike Peter.
There is absolutely room to love them both!

Świetny koncert. Świetny głos i wykonanie. Roy wkłada w to serce na max. Zespół oczywiście również. Brawo.
Ray is one of the best live performer. His voice is incredible well. The combination of Genesis and own songs in the concert make the special.
Ray is like everyone's big brother. He is emotional but not annoying like phil acted in the 80s. While still being energetic and brilliant.
perfect combination of strings and rock .... plus ray's vocals....amazing

Me imagino que Peter Gabriel debe apreciar tu maravillosa voz
The fans may have liked hearing some of the older Genesis songs. But Uncertain Weather and Shipwrecked from Calling All Stations are also great songs.
Should have stayed as front man ..sod the hard core fans and critics..Ray's voice is brilliant..
Ray wilson is a great fellow..singer..song writer!!really talanted😚😚

'Calling All Stations' and 'Not About Us' are really good here. Great job Mr Wilson.

great tone in voice - vocally on point !
I've followed Genesis since 1970. Just came across this today. Great to see that Ray picked up with the material and put a slant to it. It IS entertaining. Always wondered if he continued after the Calling All Stations tour was cut short.
Wow - Solsbury Hill was fantastic! I did not know what to expect and that totally stood out as fresh and a great cover version.
Say what you will about Calling All Stations. This is a bloody geat show.
Ray Wilson lo máximo gran cantante
Koncert grudziądzki powalił mnie na kolana. Ten facet ma głos !!!
Ray Wilson's Genesis really never stood a chance. The old hard core fans still missed Gabriel and Hackett. The newer fans missed Phil Collins. It was too difficult of an adjustment.
Almost all of CAS material was written before Ray was chosen as the new vocalist.
I'm afraid that's right

Gracias...
I've been a Genesis fan for over 25 years. Ray Wilson really carries on with the spirit. He shows that, it's not about individual members of the band, and there is no such "Original Band". If it feels like Genesis it is Genesis.
Unfortunately, without Mike and Tony writing it is a dead end.
I agree. There's no Genesis without Tony and Mike.
I am a huge Genesis Fan! This has a nice twist to it. I saw Steve Hackett in Albany, NY for his Genesis Revisited Tour. If he comes to area near you, it is a must see!! 5* concert.

The chord progression on "Calling all Stations" is stunning. Especially with a string orchestra.

"Jesus He Knows Me" can be dedicated to Paige Patterson and Paul Pressler. (Non-Americans, google them - but only if you have a strong stomach.)
One more point,he recorded and toured with them and it shows he is quite comfortable, unlike the Hackett singers where there is no soul
Look: Steve Hackett: "Genesis Revisited II: Selection"
"Calling All Stations".........and nothing else...!
Too bad the post Collins Genesis didn't really get off the ground. Ray Wilson is a fabulous singer and the music really interesting.
